Description:

About this item:

  • 10-20 swings every day will improve swing tempo, strength, and flexibility
  • Easy to use - simply “swing” the Gold Flex back and forth continually without stopping at impact position, as if swinging to a metronome
  • Fights slices and flattens the swing
  • Low-impact stretch for pre- round warm-up
  • Fits easily in golf bag – legal to carry on course
  • Weight and flex improve kinetic sequencing
  • Strengthens core golf muscles and promotes flexibility
  • Low-impact stretch for pre-round warm-up
  • The Gold Flex golf swing trainer is designed to improve swing tempo, strength, and flexibility. The exaggerated flex in the shaft helps lengthen your swing by keeping your hands and arms extended. This creates power to help you bomb your drive and gain more distance. The extra flex also encourages a slight lag at the top of your back swing, establishing the ideal swing tempo. The momentum the weighted head creates when swinging through encourages proper weight transfer and a full follow through for form, balance, and power. Keep the SKLZ Gold Flex golf swing trainer in your bag.

5.0 out of 5 stars SKLZ Gold Swing Trainer - great golf training aid

    M. · 11 November 2014

I have been playing golf for about 4 years, had 1 lesson a few years ago and have a lot of bad golfing habits. Most of my golfing games are spent trying different feet, ball, body and swing variations to compensate for my poor golf swing, struggling trying to get my driver and iron shots consistent.I saw a video demonstrating the SKLZ Gold Flex swing trainer on You Tube and was impressed with the simplicity of the design and could see the nicely controlled flowing golf swings on show and could see the potential benefits, so I decided to buy it on Bolo. The Gold Flex I purchased is 48 inches long which is longer than my normal clubs. At first I thought that it was too long, However when I transferred from the Gold Flex to my normal clubs it did not hinder the lining up with the golf ball. When I first used the Gold Flex it felt a little clumsy and heavy but after a few swings I started to slow the swings down and let the Gold Flex do the work. The weight on the end of the Gold Flex naturally brings your hands/arms into a nice position on the back swing then it flexes behind your head ready for the down swing. Because the swing is slowed down I waited until the Gold Flex had come back over my shoulder on the down swing and could feel the right time to start to power down on the down swing. Where previously I believe I was trying to power back down to high on the down swing,I now practise with 15 swings with the Gold Flex then 15 swings alternating between my normal golf clubs, because of the weight of the Golf Flex I found when I started to swing my normal clubs they felt a lot lighter and easier to swing and my golf swing started to mirror the Golf Flex swing. I can now feel various parts of the golf swing, the start of the back swing from the ground, the hands/arms pulling back, a slight pause at the top of the swing, the start of the down swing and finally feeling the right time to start powering down and through the golf ball.Because the Gold Flex is weighted at the end I have found that it helps me transfer my body weight from my right leg to my left leg (right handed) and my hips and shoulders are forced to turn and now when swinging my normal golf club I can feel the same transfer of weight and body movement. The Gold Flex also lets you feel when your making errors in a swing, for example, if I straighten my legs from a slightly bent position lifting my body up during the swing the Gold Flex starts to wobble and the swing does not feel so smooth. The idea is to try and get the Gold Flex swinging backwards and forwards as smoothly as possible. After 3 days of practising with the Gold Flex and a lot more turning of the hips and shoulders which generates more swing power I have found parts of my body and muscles aching that I obviously was not using before, for example, stomach muscles, general back muscles, back of upper arm muscles, forearms muscles, thigh muscles and hips all aching which shows I have not been using these muscles much in my golf game.On the golfing range today I concentrated on my driver and 2 hybrid/baffler off a tee and ground to see if after only a few practises over the last 3 days there was any difference. With my driver and hybrid I was gaining about 20 to 25 yards and most of the shots were reasonably straight. After the golf range I went out on the course and tried to concentrate on the new swing and slowing it down, I could still feel the different parts of the swing and had some good shots mixed in with a few duff shots as the new swing felt good but took a bit of getting used too, I could feel better weight transfer and the potential for more powerful shots. I had to focus on the new swing and try not to slip back into the old swing and back to bad golfing habitsI intend to practise with the Golf Flex for 30 minutes per day where possible transferring between the Gold Flex and my normal clubs. I can definitely feel improvements with my golf swing within 3 days and hopefully with a few more weeks practising and a few more games of golf it will pay off with a more consistent and powerful golf swing.I would recommend the Gold Flex to anyone who needs help with their golf swing, it is good for warming up before a game of golf and used regularly along with plenty of practise on the golf course hopefully improve your game.

4.0 out of 5 stars Comparison: Orange Whip v Gold Flex

    M. · 13 June 2016

Borrowed a mate's (Mid) Orange Whip after telling him i was struggling with my irons (have a tendency to come over the top with an out to in swing plane which produces my fair share of shanks / slices / powerless fades). One afternoon of swinging this periodically during a practice round of golf and i was honestly blown away by the results! Incredible how quickly i started to hit balls more cleanly, with a straighter trajectory. So much so that i rushed home to buy one (only to be shocked into submission by the price). Crushed and defeated, thinking of ways to borrow (read: steal) my mates swing aid, i noticed the SKLZ Gold Flex for half the price and bought it.Had it for 4 days - using it once at the range, and once during a practice round - and returned it for the more expensive Orange Whip.Reason: The Gold Flex is great as a warm up tool. It's lovely and weighty throughout the swing (your clubs feel absolutely feather-lite after use). It's pretty whippy (just like the Orange Whip), with one very key exception - and in my opinion the defining reason that makes the one product a more effective warm-up tool, and the other a better training aid.The Gold Flex shaft has the same soft flex throughout its length, with a heavy head, giving it a very loose, whippy action. The Orange Whip has a firmer (thick) top end with a more flexible (thin) bottom end and the same weighted head, giving a slightly firmer, whippy action, thus allowing the user to make a more controlled swing action with it.So to answer the first question, both do a great job as part of a pre-round warm up routine, loosening the muscles, and allowing you to groove a lovely smooth, complete swing action. But as a training aid? With the Orange Whip you get a much better sense of the swing plain and the lag generated by it's whippy action (i am not sure whippy is evena word, considering spell check keeps flagging it with 'what the hell are you trying to type'), but it gives you more precise feedback on how your right elbow is tucking in against your hip as you release the club head, flattening out your swing plane, and generating lag without any conscious effort on your part.Yes, you would argue the Golf Flex does the same. And i do agree! It does. What it doesn't allow is for you to feel that same level of control during the swing, so i wasn't able to reproduce the swing with my irons quite as effectively as i was with with the Orange Whip. I did notice more distance with my Driver during the weekend club competition, which considering the length of the Gold Flex, one would presume is its primary target. But whether or not the Orange Whip had as much of an impact as the Gold Flex (on my Driving improvement) could be open for debate.Naturally, depending on your swing issues / needs (irons or woods) / etc. each person will have a different experience. If you can, give both a go before deciding on which is best. Maybe i shot myself in the foot by trying the more expensive Orange Whip first....But as far as training aids go, this is the first product that has been able to produce such dramatic results in such a short space of time! So if you are on the fence about whether or not to purchase this, don't be. You will not regret it.Good luck!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Must-Have Training Aide

    M.C. · 3 March 2013

This is a brilliant training aide. Any reasonable golfer will immediately feel the benefit of using this equipment but a complete beginner may struggle with it. Very quickly you get to feel what a good swing should feel like and you can learn to build up the all important lag. There's no doubt that it strengthens your core muscles in this process and it's worth taking with you down the range even if you do get a few funny looks. It's also great as a warm-up tool: a lot better than swinging a couple of clubs.Contrary to what you may have read elsewhere, there is nothing wrong with the build quality. It's very robust and I can't see anything that might come apart! After using it for 2 weeks I added about 10 yards to each iron and 20 yards to my drives. Now I use it all the time because as well as helping the golf swing it works on the muscles in your waist.I also bought an Orange Whip trainer for a friend so I was able to compare the two products. The SKLZ is a bit heavier so if you are a senior or junior you might be better getting the Orange Whip. However, I prefer the SKLZ because it is heavier, half the price and the grip can be changed; with the Orange Whip it's not so easy to re-grip.

    The grip keeps sliding off...

    M. · 30 August 2024

After a few weeks of use the grip started sliding off the shaft. I would not use it at a driving range or anywhere where people may be nearby.
