  • Please note this Long Pepper is the tasty Piper retrofractum type - not to be confused with the Indian variety of long pepper, Piper longum or Pippali used in Ayuverdic medicine.
  • Its warm, chocolatey, musky aroma belies a floral, spicey, peppery punch that builds slowly and heats the mouth.
  • Crush and grind with a pestle & mortar. Perfect for soups, slow cooking or terrines and pâtés. Try mixing with cream and eating with nectarines or summer fruit.

    Decided to try Long Pepper after seeing Tom Alcott of Peppermongers on one of Nigel Slater's TV programmes. I tried all of the Asian/Chinese stores here in Edinburgh, none of them had a clue what I was talking about. Given the time I spent hunting, it would have been quicker just to order thru Bolo as I eventually did. Arrived two days after I placed the order.Tom demonstrated a version of "Long Pepper Cream" with soft fruit on Nigel's show. I'd used ground black with strawberries before, but this was a completely different beast. The intense heat is superb, and I still haven't figured out all of the underlying flavours. Got a long list of recipes to try, and looking forward to them all.

    This is the best long pepper - don't be fooled by cheaper, smaller peppers: they do not taste the same.This pepper, ground as you need it, brings out the flavour of many foods. Though my favourite has to be a sunny side up with Peppermongers long pepper sprinkled over the top - nothing else! Try it.

    I hate that I paid £6.01 extra to send this small item that weighed ONLY 32 grams and was therefore dearer than the item itself. AND it was supposed to have been FREE DELIVERY. Please look into this thanks otherwise have been very satisfied with all the other purchases that I have made

    These were a lovely suprise when they arrived, different to the normal Pepper you buy in the shops; Well packaged, and some useful information on the packaging.

    First saw this item in use on Saturday kitchen, had never considered how many types of pepper there were. The flavour is as good as described and can think of lots of dishes were it would add an interesting twist. Now inspired to try some more.
