On the one hand, the product concept of the SIGMA 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM | Sports is to achieve the best optical and action-capture performance to meet the requirements of professional photographers. On the other hand, that of the SIGMA 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM | Contemporary is to achieve a lightweight and compact construction for higher usability with similar specifications. It has put a special emphasis on its optical performance by incorporation of 1 FLD and 3 SLD glass elements, optimisation of lens power distribution and minimised chromatic aberration. The dust- and splash-proof construction facilitate photography in the field and the detachable tripod socket offers more convenience for handheld photography.
By incorporating excellent optical glass elements, it minimises chromatic aberration and achieves class leading image quality.
This lens incorporates 1 FLD ("F" Low Dispersion) glass element, which has performance equal to fluorite, and 3 SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements which improve overall sharpness and compensate for chromatic aberration. Chromatic aberration in particular, which could be visible especially towards the telephoto-end even when stopped down, is corrected by the optimised design of glass elements including the FLD lens. The Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting and provides sharp and high contrast images even in backlit conditions.
Lightweight and compact construction for higher usability
Compared to the SIGMA 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM | Sports, it is more compact and lightweight, enabling easy handling and making it possible to do handheld photography for a longer period of time. The tripod socket is detachable so that the lens can be carried by itself. Without the tripod socket, it also fits well into limited space for storage. Moreover, the tripod socket is made of magnesium which is light and strong at the same time. The tripod socket may be detached and replaced with a rubber protective cover PT-11 to further reduce weight and make handheld photography an even more lightweight and convenient experience. This lens is the optimal choice for photographers who desire hyper-telephoto functionality while staying light on their feet.
Intelligent OS featuring updated algorithm
The OS (Optical Stabilizer) function features an acceleration sensor to ensure even higher precision. Two OS modes are available: Mode 1 for general photography and Mode 2 for motor sports and other applications requiring panning. In Mode 2, the acceleration sensor teams up with the Intelligent OS and its updated stabilisation algorithm to deliver effective stabilisation while you move the camera horizontally, vertically, or diagonally-regardless of the position of the lens. This feature helps ensure effective panning and outstanding capture of moving subjects.
Zoom lock switch can be set at any focal length
The new zoom lock switch enables the zoom ring to be locked at any marked focal length. It can be fixed at the photographer's desirable focal length, which allows stable shooting whether the lens is positioned upward or downward. It also helps during long exposure photography.
Water and oil-repellent coating ensures a pleasant photography experience
The forefront lenses incorporate a water and oil-repellent coating that allows water to be wiped away easily and prevents oil and fat from sticking to the surface, even in challenging shooting conditions. At the same time, the maintenance of the lens surface becomes easier.
Dust-proof and splash-proof mount
As with the SIGMA 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM from the Sports line, the lens mount incorporates a rubber sealing to protect the mount part from dust and water drops.
Quieter and Faster "Optimized AF"
The HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) ensures high speed and quiet AF. With the further enhanced AF algorithm compared to previous models, continuous AF (AF-C) improves the focusing efficiency by approximately 5%.
Manual override incorporated to make two full-time manual modes switchable.
In addition to AF/MF, MO (Manual Override) is incorporated as one of the options of the focus mode switch. By setting it to the MO position, it switches to manual focus by rotating the focus ring even during continuous AF. With AF position, standard full-time manual focus is available. Using the optional SIGMA USB DOCK, it is possible to adjust the MO position's sensitivity to switch to manual focus.
Incorporating Rounded Diaphragm
The 9 blade-rounded diaphragm creates an attractive blur to the out-of-focus areas of the image. To use USB Dock, please attach a USB Dock to your lens' mount part, just like you attach your camera to the lens. Please use the supplied USB Cable and connect to a computer which has the dedicated software “SIGMA Optimization Pro” installed. For further information on how to operate the product, please refer instruction manual of “SIGMA Optimization Pro”.

I have had this lens for 2/3 weeks now. I have taken over 500 images with it already. And I have to say it is fantastic. Well worth the money.1st thing I noticed was the size, it's huge. Especially at 600mm. Now I knew it was big, but using it daily I realised how big. And heavy... When I 1st went out with it I thought how can you hand hold it? Now I'm a big bloke, and I felt the size and weight. However, as time has gone by, I don't notice it any more, odd what you get used too.Build is ok, very plastic. But feels sturdy and strong. The lens lock is invaluable, as it prevent lens extending as you walk. I use with a nikon D7200. And I can't quite fit the assembled lens / camera into my lowpro sling bag. I will upload some images of the issue later. If you want to carry around fitted then you need a bag that allows the m to be packed vertically, not horizontal across the bag.Focus is excellent, really fast. And zooming is a bit of a chore, in that you have to twist to zoom then release and twist again to full zoom. Not great if you need to zoom fast. But in general ok.Image quality is far better than my old tamron 70-300mm. (still a great cheap lens by the way).At this time focus at 600mm is slighty soft. So I neeed to tune it to the camera. Looks like another purchase coming up for the sigma tuning thingy.I have bought a gimble for my tripod to help . But all the images except the moon were hand held. And I did take moon shots hand held. the image stabilisation is very good, does seem to pust hand held shots slightly to the right. You can feel the motor working. But its good as you can see.I nearly bought the Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6E, I tried it at Jessops (lovely lens) but I don't regret buying the sigma. I wanted the extra reach and boy do I like it. It is a slow lens though so brighter light is preferred unless you are happy with high ISO's. the D7200 is great, but I am noticing the high ISO, (so noise when shooting moon was noticable to me)Great lens, well worth a buy.

I've wanted this particular lens for almost 2 years. Although it's a more budget friendly option compared to the £12,000 prime 600mm lenses it is obviously not a cheap lens by any means.I've only had a chance to use it late in the evening and around the house which is a worst case for this lens. But wow even at 8000 ISO I was still taking perfectly usable photos. And outside with more light, I was at full zoom taking perfectly sharp photos. The auto focus is impressively fast although it's not the fastest. The image quality compares well to my Sigma 105mm Prime Macro lens which is incredibly sharp and fast. The only thing with the 150-600mm is it doesn't perform in low light as well as a prime lens but I wasn't expecting it too nor do I intend to use it like that.The easiest way to sum it up is like this. Yeah a Bugatti Veyon is a nice car but you'd still be happy with something like a Lambo at a much lower cost. No it isn't as good as the Prime Lenses but I can't complain, it is an amazing lens.Only one criticism would be the zoom ring weirdly rotates the opposite direction to most lenses but that's not a big issue. It is big and heavy but you can't criticise it for that. It's big and heavy because it has a long zoom range and brilliant build quality.

I've just bought a "contemporary" version for my Nikon D810. I have only had it for a short while but am mightily impressed with both its image quality and the performance of the optical stabilisation (OS) system.Hand-held shots are completely viable, even at the full 600mm focal length. OS does its job well.Autofocus works well and fast, even in poor light, with very little "hunting".Build quality is good, zoom action is smooth.Image quality is excellent.I have bought a lens dock but in fact I don't think I'll need it as focus is spot-on out of the box.I bought this lens because I am frustrated with the performance of my Nikon 28-300 zoom at its long end, it never seems to be quite long enough and the image quality degrades a bit. Comparing images from the two lenses side by side is a revelation: not only do you get over twice as close but the image quality is also massively better.Downsides? It's heavy, but then it's a large lens with a reasonable maximum aperture so it can't be otherwise. I wouldn't want to lug it around all day though.Incidentally just for fun I tried it with my 1.4x teleconverter. Auto-focus mostly worked but it struggled a bit at longer focal lengths on poor contrast subjects. Maybe worth it for a static subject where you can set focus manually but not usable for anything which would require active focus tracking.
Nice lens
I bought this for my Nikon D850. Love the combo. Autofocus is fast and precise. Motor is quiet. Optics are sharp and pleasing to my eyes. Colours are rich. A little heavy but that's to be expected for beast like this.

I will start off by saying I only review items that I have gotten to use. I don't review anything right after I took it out of the Box to say oh well this is amazing.. With that being said after using this lens for a couple of weeks I can honestly say it's freaking incredible! With that being said this was my 1st serious lens purchase. Before this all I've been treating with have been kit lenses. I have this on a rebel T5I right now however I do plan to upgrade. The auto focus is sticky and tracks amazing.. Image civilization is Phenomenal. One problem I did have with it is it is when I had this attached to a shoulder sling when I walked the camera got switched and it's auto focus length from 10 Meters to infinity down to 2 m to 10 m. For 2 days I could not get any sports photos that we're coming out clear and was thinking I would have to send this back to Sigma. However the one day it just dawned on me to check that setting and I found that it had gotten switched perand switched. After doing something about it that's what I had realized what it that while I was walking with the camera at my side it probably just got bumped. After switching it back to The infinity setting the the lens works perfectly. Images are extremely sharp and crisp. The background Boca is amazing even at F 6.3. This lens is a terrific investment. I really wanted to get the sport model however the extra $500 was kind of hard to justify especially on my budget however the contemporary lens truly is an incredible lens. If you're looking for or a good sportsman or a lens to take photos of the moon or anything like that I would not not hesitate to get this once again

Zakupiłem obiektyw przez Bolo.pl próbowałem zarejestrować go na stronie sigma-foto.pl nie ma takiej możliwości napisałem maila przesłałem kopię zakupu, i zdjęcie numeru seryjnego obiektywu otrzymałem odpowiedź że obiektyw nie pochodzi z polskiej dystrybucji i nie ma możliwości przedłużenia gwarancji do 3 lat w Polsce. Jest taniej ale za coś.
