This Wonderful Cherry chess set is made from the best pieces of cherry and birch wood and is perfectly finished by hands. Dark squares are carefully prepared to a beautiful brown colour. Lighter squares are left as pale natural wood and are lacquered with perfect finish. Playing pieces are made from cherry wood which are carved and painted by hands. Board lines, numbers and letters are near black. The dark playing pieces are stained in the same colour as the dark squares on the board. The chessboard have a high gloss lacquered finish. Approximate dimensions of wooden box closed: 35cm x 17.5cm x 4.5cm / 13.7 x 6.8 x 1.8 inches. Approximate dimensions of wooden playing board (when box is fully opened): 35cm x 35cm x 2.25cm / 13.7 x 13.7 x 0.9 inches. Approximate dimensions of one square: 3.5cm x 3.5cm Approximate height: King: 6.5cm / 2.5 inches Queen: 5.5cm / 2.1 inches Bishop: 4.5cm / 1.7 inches Horse: 4.5cm / 1.7 inches Rock: 4cm / 1.5 inches Pawn: 3.5cm / 1.3 inches Approximate weight of game set with pieces included: 715gms Inside the box there is a molded insert. In the description of this product it states 'Best chess for the price' and I have to say it certainly lives up to its expectations. When I opened up the packaging I was warmly greeted with a charming yet gorgeous Chess and Draughts set. The pieces are of good sturdy quality but yet still have a delicate and detailed feel to them as well as the board they play on. The pieces are stored in the board and they fit in with ease with plenty of room for comfort.Also with this product it comes in a neatly fitted white cardboard box, now I know it may not seem much, but I am planning on going to University this year and hope to bring my Chess set with me so this box will act marvellously protecting the folded board inside, which is of course ideal.This product truly is unique and I am so happy that I found this offer I can't wait to play with this set over the years with my friends and family developing and forming friendships, while challenging them at the same time.

I was slightly worried by a few of the photos/reviews on the site, but decided to go ahead with the purchase based on the 5* ratings. The board and pieces were intact, complete, and of decent quality - not a 5* display set, but fully stained and as good as I'd expected for the price. As others have said, there's no bag to hold the draught counters when the board is opened out to play - I've stored them elsewhere. It's a good-sized board. The pieces are light but probably robust enough to survive in the felt-lined compartment if they get rattled a bit.

This Chess set is well worth 5 stars, It is the best wooden chess set we saw at the best price for what we where looking for in buying a chess set, It all folds away nice and neatly within its own box. It is a good size to so that your not straining to see the peaces. We have took this set camping with us and cause it is well protected it pacted away no bother. I would say some of the stained wood could be darker in both the black and whight peaces, you see this with the knights most. For my first good size chess set im not compling.I would recomend this chess set to anyone who wants a good set and would like it portable to.

A beautiful little chess set. Very elegant with an overall feel of good quality and a pleasing woody aroma lol. You can buy better quality if you want it, but I think for the price this set is very adequate for my needs. It's a decent sized board and well made, and the pieces look nicely carved. The pieces fit nicely inside the folding board along with the draught pieces. The only negative aspect is having to take all chess and draught pieces out to play, and put them back again after. Personally I have bought a lovely smallish wooden pirate chest in which to store my pieces or at least just the draught ones. It's not a deal breaker but a sliding roof over the draught pieces would have been a nice touch. But then it is very nice to have the draught set included. I'm extremely pleased with my purchase.

This was given as a present and it was well received, the wood stain colour contrast was nice, the board was solid and compartment lining good and was not too heavy and it was used for indoor and outdoor playing.The downside was that some of the pieces were quite light so outdoor play on the beach was challenging at times, a bit of weight or magnets would of helped them slowly moving with the breeze, these pieces had a decent finish though on closer inspection not perfect.The set was the best for value I seen online that included checker pieces, though I had to add my own bag to hold these when the board is opened up for chess, it was a large sized board yet still handy enough for travel.Overall good experience with this and good product for the price, perfection will cost a lot more but you probably wouldn't bring that to the beach.

Come già detto da altri forte odore di vernice, ma questo basta lasciarlo aperto per qualche giorno e sparisce.La scacchiera e molto fragile presenta delle sbavature e gli scacchi non sono carteggiati bene hanno un livello di finiture mediocre.E un peccato perchè bastava poco per correggere questi difetti anche spendedendo 5 euro in più ma avevi un prodotto decisamente migliore.
