In 2019 and this thing is still up to date with the latest controllers, well 300+ spent.
You'll be jammin'!
When I was in the market for a new controller it was between this, a Mixtrack Quad and a DDJ SX. I didn't have the coin for the SX and thought this had a better build quality and long term progression ability as compared the the Numark. I'm not at all disappointed in my decision. This has taken my skills to another level. Lots of great options for cool transitions and music color. The pads are awesome! They have a nice somewhat rubbery feel to them. The EQ knobs also have a similar feel though the low pass/high pass filter is more plasticky. It's a good subtle touch to help you differentiate the knobs when performing in darkened spaces. My only small grip is the EQ's are not infinite kills. That's only a small issue. Anyway, every time I perform I come up with something new to do with the pads, filters and effects. I haven't even gotten to the Pad Plus mode yet and not sure I'll ever need to.The sound quality is soooo much better than the Mixtrack Pro I had been using. You also have good options to adjust the sound via EQ, trim, up faders, and in the settings menu as well. The build quality is excellent in this price range. It has a metal top and plastic sides that feel very substantial. It handled a drop during transport without a scratch. I just love this controller! I was moving from a Mixtrack Pro and missed the reverse symmetry of the Numark products but that's just a personal preference. If moving up,from an entry-level controller and you're not in the need for a true four channel controller, this is an excellent option.
but i am so glad i did it now
I spent ages doing my research and spent more $ than i wanted to, but i am so glad i did it now. This delivers in so many ways and more. Its easy to learn and also has a whole heap of functions i can advance onto once ive mastered the basics.

Features + Price = Great Value
So far I'm a loving the SR. I wanted something that was portable, feature-packed and something that was close in layout to a battle style/hip-hop turntable setup. This fits the bill nicely. A couple of gigs so far and it's performed like a champ. Something I'd like to see on the DDJ-SR2: LED markers on the platters. That would have made the SR perfect for me.
