5.0 out of 5 stars After one use only. It’s very quiet and good at shredding compost material (UK definition).
Unwrap it carefully. Buy the oil but not the bags.I am trying to be as green as possible and in early retirement I have been shredding a lot of old work related documents as well as my daily i newspaper and as much of our lockdown delivery cardboard as fits through the shredder.First impressions: It arrived as predicted within 48 hours and was well packed and Undamaged. As described by others the Castors look fragile and are not free running even after lubrication. It was bought to replace well used (10yrs+ ) but jammed and burned out high end domestic Fellowes machine with a easy to empty basket. ( see comparison in photo ).I am using the plastic bag that came around it in the box, it was also supplied with a single bag inside as well. Buying commercial see through polythene shredder bags will be convenient but they cost 16p each and won’t biodegrade.I oiled the cutter blades before use.Performance after filling one bag to brim:Noise - much, much less noisy than my old machine and more pleasant pitch - you could work in the same room.Capacity- 20 mins continuous use including up to 16 sheets of professional magazine shiny paper, several i newspapers torn in half lengthways, Bolo cardboard book delivery cartons folded double thickness to full width (22cm)I didn’t try it on copier paper. The cooling fan comes on while in use but at no time did it run over after finishing shredding an item.As reported by others, for security purposes, the chads are wider than other machines but for composting this does not matter. I suspect this also the reason for its quietness and speed. It cross cut the newspaper much more effectively and therefore the shreddings sat down in the bin more easily. As a result I got a lot more in the bag than my old machine. I try not to compact the shreddings as that defeats the speed of compost making.Speed: for home use it was comparable to the old Fellowes and for a once a day session I am contentbut you cannot fill an auto feed and walk away. There was a slight delay on both starting and starting to reverse - this might be a good thing. It stopped 2 seconds after the cutters cleared. It stopped automatically on the first fill but I am not sure if that is a feature.Ergonomics: it’s lower than the old machine but the slot is same distance from the front. This made it more of a strain to feed it while standing but it’s shape and size and the (careful use of ) the castors mean it would be ideal for sitting under a desk. The bag sits over the rim at the back and sides and I did not have a significant spillage, the clips at the front are a bit fiddly but once you master the technique it clips in and prevents leaks at the front.I would not want to tip the shreddings straight from the bin into a plastic bin bag as the plastic felt quite fragile and the rectangular shape would not fit easily into the bag for a second fill and protruding plastic lugs would tear the bag. But transferring shreddings form the transparent bag to another bag was pure dead simple.Reliability: no commentExcellent first impressions. If it lasts then it should be more than adequate to supply my Allottment with brown material to go with the kitchen waste and grass clippings
5.0 out of 5 stars Compact But Sturdy
This is the second model of these I have bought for my office and have been more than happy with both. The unit says is can handle 18 sheets at a time - but I feel that unless you are only using 70gsm paper, the correct number would be more reasonable at 7 sheets (80gsm). The cross cut is a good feature for destroying confidential items and the box is easy to remove and empty, with a visible window to see when needed. The shredding is quite quick and although a little noisy, on stays on for a short while due to the automatic cut off. Also, after it detects you have finished shredding, it does a little 'reverse' to ensure no blockages.
5.0 out of 5 stars This is a brute!
I had a large sackfull of the past 30 years of bank, credit card, utility bills, salary slips and receipts. I could just about lift the sack. As it contained a variety of personal and confidential details, I had been given the task of disposing of it. My old paper shredder was just about capable of shredding 5 sheets of paper at a time and would cut out every 5 minutes or so. With the spec of the Bonsaii able to shred 18 sheets at once and a 60 minute run time, I thought this must do the trick !I wasn't disappointed, delivered the following day, the shredder cut through 18 sheets with ease and sheet after sheet went through without problems - except when I fed 20+ sheets but it stoppped, reversed and allowed me to pull out the blockage. From one large sack in less than two hours I shredded and created 4 new sacks of neatly cut paper. Incidentally I discovered that it was easier to line the paper box beneath the cutter with a plastic bag and that made it much easier to dispose of the shreds. The noise level was lower than my old shredder and never in the two hours did it bother to stop and take a cool down break. This is great shredder for the home and probably a small office. Well worth the money and made a dreary job into something that I dare say was a lot of fun!
4.0 out of 5 stars Does the job, but I was a little disappointed.
I already own the 18-sheet version of this 24-sheet shredder and I love it. The 18-sheet shredder is a beast, and I use it all the time mainly for shredding cardboard. My wife decided that she wanted a heavy-duty shredder for her home office, so I decided to give her my 18-sheet shredder and order the more meaty 24-sheet version. First impressions; it works really well, as advertised, but there are a few little niggles that left me a just a little disappointed with it.Firstly, the slot where you insert items to be shredded; even though this shredder claims to be able to shred up to 24 sheets of paper, the opening is actually smaller than the 18-sheet version. This left me having to use a little bit more force to feed in sheets of cardboard which would fit without a problem in the 180sheet version. I was expecting the feeder slot to be a little bit bigger than the 18-sheet version, not smaller.Secondly, the waste bin is advertised as 27 litres as opposed to the 23 litres of the 18-sheet version. This is all well and good, but the shredder automatically stops shredding when it thinks the bin is full. It doesn't use the full 27 litres and in fact I get more shreds in the 18-sheet shredder than I do with this one. Those two minor niggles aside, like the 18-sheet version, this shredder works really well and is clearly very powerful. It's also quieter than the 18-sheet version.
5.0 out of 5 stars This machine is excellent to shred a lot of paper.
This machine is excellent to shred a lot of paper. It's somewhere between a small home shredder and a commercial shredder. I had a small one that would do about 30 sheets continually then jam and take ages to clear and cool down, this machine will happily go continually for 20 minutes without a problem and where my old machine would take 2 or 3 sheets at a time, this will easily take 10 to 15 sheets and also shred credit cards and staples. It may not suit everyone, but for me it is perfect and well worth the extra expense.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product

What a Work Horse
I had a cheaper shredder but the amount of shredding I do I needed something bigger to do the job. Well I am not disappointed with my purchase, this machine is a work horse. Hasn't heated up or jammed on me once. I use the recommended lubricant sheets before every use. I would recommend this and in future would order it again.
Easy to assemble, good instructions, quiet, works great!
I have only used this once since receiving it yesterday, but I am so well pleased by its style and function, I had to add my review right away. I have a smaller version by the same brand/ company that shreds fewer pages and doesn't have wheels. It is okay, but noisier than I hoped and doubted it could manage the amount of shredding I need to tackle, semed a bit stressed after a short session of shredding and therefore I have only used it a few times. I decided to try this upgraded model. So far very pleased with my decision. The pages feed smoothly and quietly, more than any of the other shredders I have used (one my husband had that we gave away before we moved was not too noisy but was not a cross cut and it was a bit heavy and cumbersome) This is much lighter and the wheels area grat benefit. I love the pull out drawer and greater capacity it holds with the window to see as the the bin fills up. Plus I can open it to spred out the pile and push it down to keep the paper from blocking the blades and allow.it to hold more and more paper. It handled a full shopping bag of bills, documents, mail etc. in about 20 mins. Probably could have taken even less time, but I wasn't doing a full 18 pages each time. Love that I could do a variety of paper types and not have to unfold everything. If a small portion of a smaller paper didn't completely shreed it stopped and stayed where I could easily flip and feed again without jamming. There was no jamming, but I feel the reverse switch feature would handle if needed. And no smell of a motor being overly worked. This model makes this chore a breeze., almost fun even. Highly recommend so far, but I feel confident it will hold up.
This is a work horse!
If you have been using those $80 shredders, this thing will amaze you! It does one thing, and does it well. In a week, I have shredded three garden trash bags of paper, including over a dozen old cards. No jam or stopping from heat issues, yet!. I was using two old & cheap Fellowes shredders that had a 10 minute run with 60 minute rest rating. They would slow me down jamming and overheating. Then, one just failed and the other started sounding like the motor was giving out.. This Bonsaii has already done 3 times the shredding in less than half the time! I am about half way done and expect this shredder to keep going for years.. The 18 sheets warning is probably for #10 paper. I am shredding thicker stock, usually old bank statements and bills. I'd say about 10 of those sheets is the limit, but my old "8 page" units could only do about 5 of them.Pros: - It is relatively quiet. - It just keeps going. - It shreds two credit cards side-by-side.Cons: - The basket was broken just above the clear plastic window, making removal and insertion feel a bit flimsy. I went ahead and taped the break, because this thing is so much better than what I was using, and I wanted to get this shredding job done. I have started an email with Bonsaii to see if I can get a new basket.- Nothing else, really...Gripes: - I just bought this for $169.99, and 10 days later it has dropped to $142.79. Do I go to the trouble to return it and reorder it just to save $27.20 (~16%)? Maybe... I need to get this shredding done and this Bonsaii is doing it (:>)I would suggest this unit to any heavy shredder in the home and small office environment!
