5.0 out of 5 stars A lifesaver for plumbing emergencies!
This tape has been an absolute lifesaver in my household. As someone who occasionally encounters plumbing issues, having a reliable solution on hand is invaluable, and this tape delivers exactly that.Let's start with the packaging. The tape arrived securely packaged, ensuring that it was in perfect condition when I received it. The compact size makes it easy to store in a toolbox or kitchen drawer, ready for whenever it's needed. Now, onto the tape itself. The quality is outstanding. It's made from durable rubber material that bonds together seamlessly once applied, creating a watertight seal that effectively stops leaks in their tracks. However, it's important to note that once the tape touches itself, it bonds instantly, so you need to be careful during application.I've used this tape to repair leaking pipes, and I have to say, it works like a charm. Once wrapped around the pipe, it forms a tight seal that withstands water pressure without any issues. It's incredibly reliable and has saved me from having to call a plumber on more than one occasion. In terms of value for money, this tape is worth its weight in gold. The peace of mind it provides during plumbing emergencies is priceless. Plus, the roll is generously sized, so you get plenty of tape for multiple repairs.Delivery was fast, and the service provided was excellent. Overall, I highly recommend the Duck Tape Wrap-Fix Self-Fusing Repair Tape to anyone in need of a reliable solution for leaking pipes. It's a must-have for every household.
4.0 out of 5 stars NEED TO BE ABLE TO PULL REALLY TIGHT TO FIX
Bought to try to hold back a leak on a mains water pipe into Kitchen, as I could not wrap and pull the tape tight enough due to position of pipe to wall, it did not stop the leak but allowed me to keep an eye on a drip rather than a spray of water from the leak till plumber arrived. I guess would be excellent on other leaks where you have easy access to pipe and can put the pressure behind wrapping the tape at the same time as pulling to get a good stretch to the product.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works well
I used this to repair a boiler condensate pipe which had to be cut due to freezing. The repair has remained water-tight.
3.0 out of 5 stars Not usable for pipe leaks.
It is easy to use and hardens quick, but it did not work for me on my pipe 'pause'. Not sure if the leak was to big.
5.0 out of 5 stars A Quick Fix Marvel: Duck Tape Wrap-Fix Saves the Day
When a rogue rat decided to play dentist on my flexi pipe, I found myself starring in a not-so-fun episode of "Home Plumbing Disasters." Enter the hero of our tale: Duck Tape Wrap-Fix Self-Fusing Repair Tape. Not just any tape, mind you, but the James Bond of the tape world – suave, sophisticated, and ready to take on leaks with a license to seal.Applying this tape felt like performing a magic trick. Within minutes of wrapping it around the chewed-up pipe, it bonded faster than superglue on a bad hair day. Despite my initial concerns (and the pipe being as dry as British humor), the tape clung on for dear life, proving that it wasn't just another pretty face on the repair scene. Now, you might wonder about its staying power. Let's just say, if this tape were a person, it'd be the strong, silent type that sticks around through thick and thin, without a hint of degradation or the dreaded sag. And it managed this feat on a pipe that wasn't fully dry, showcasing its undeterred commitment to duty. While its application doesn't require a specific scenario (it's quite the all-rounder), I'd say it excels in surprise plumbing performances and impromptu waterworks. The trick to its magic? Stretch it like you're competing in the Repair Olympics, applying tension with the finesse of a tightrope walker before wrapping it around the afflicted area.In the grand scheme of things, Duck Tape Wrap-Fix turned what could have been a watery catastrophe into a triumphant victory over rodent-induced havoc. It's not just a repair tape; it's a beacon of hope for the DIY-challenged and a testament to the power of stretching and sticking your way out of sticky (or leaky) situations.Would I recommend it? Absolutely – for anyone facing their own mini disaster or just in need of a good laugh at the absurdity of unexpected home repairs. This tape isn't just useful; it's a morale booster in a sleek, sticky form.
1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work no matter how much you use
Just needed to wrap a simple joint to fix a very minor intermittent drip. After using over half the roll water is still finding its way through, regardless of how much I've used and how tight it's wrapped. Save your money and just get some epoxy putty and bypass a load of hassle.
4.0 out of 5 stars Isobutyl is better
I chose this product as I was using it as a belt and braces wrapping for a push fit joint under the floorboards on some central heating pipe. (Yes yes I know you should solder but whatever)I had already wrapped the joint with isobutyl tape from a popular trade counter which was easy to apply and had melted into one solid rubbery cover. I had full confidence in this But I had read that isobutyl has a max working temp of 80c-100c. Although my heating goes nowhere near that I was worried it would fail or become a sticky mess, so I removed the rubber tape and applied this tapeinstead, which claims resistance to 260c.It doesn't apply or adhere nearly as well and doesn't conform to intricate shapes as easily as the rubber tape. It likes to stick to itself though but I don't think it becomes one mass like rubber tape. I'm not sure it will stop a leak from the push fit in the future and it's so much harder to apply for my rather bodge-ey use case.It would be ok as a temp repair but the rubber tape would be better I think, and is cheaper too. I wish I'd kept that on as this doesn't conform very well so is unlikely to be a good repair for a lot of things.
