5.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable, water proof and true to size

S. · 4 October 2024

My husband had a pair of the previous model for years until they wore out. After a frustrating trip around some sports shops I thought to check on Bolo to see if these might still be available. yes! The lower design around the ankle means that, without being as low as a shoe, they are comfortable for his ankle bones which were badly broken and pinned many years ago. They provide good support, offer a standard arch support, and are robust; you cannot twist or bend them easily. Fair price and true to size, (although we intially ordered a size too big because we couldnt read the worn-out size label on his old boots). I almost feel like buying a second pair in case they ever stop making them! Thank you Karrimor!

5.0 out of 5 stars Reliable and comfy footwear

A. · 31 July 2024

I love these shoes, and buy them on a regular basis. I do ***a huge amount*** of general purpose walking and live in these shoes day in, day out, all year. Whilst the supplied insoles are good, I choose to replace them with arch-support insoles, which I replace every few months, but the shoes themselves last me around 4 years a pair, however I have a pair I wear day in day out as my 'iniversal' shoes and I have another pair I keep as 'best-occasion' shoes, and then I switch them to general use and buy a new 'best-occasion' pair when the generals have passed their 'walk-by' date. I do not buy or wear cheap rubbish footwear, I only have one pair of feet.....plus knees and hips, and comfy supportive footwear is absolutely essential. I don't ever deliberately stand in water, or wade through Lake District bogs, but from my experience of *rain* I've certainly not got wet feet whilst wearing these in, I'm going to say, certainly the first two years of wearing them. Like all this type of construction where, in very simple terms, you have an inner and an outer shell, but in-between the two is a sort of 'plastic bag sewn in, they *are* waterproof for a period of time, but eventually the creasing and uncreasing of that (unseen) 'plastic bag' can (but not always) cause a breach. You can buy a rubbish pair of shoes for 15 - 20£, they'll be rubbish when you buy them and they'll be rubbish all the way until you give up on them 6-months to 1year later, and you'll likely have uncomfortable feet for this period of time too.I keep buying them because they give me excellent service, comfort and value. I take a size 8 (EU42) and that size in this shoe is perfect for me

4.0 out of 5 stars Quality & comfort at a reasonable price...

R.B. · 19 August 2024

These Karrimor hiking shoes are instantly comfortable so require no 'walking in' like traditional boots do. They're very lightweight, like trainers, but much more substantially constructed with deep treaded soles & supportive uppers. The outer material isn't waterproof, but offers a lot of resistance to penetration of wet into the plastic inner lining. They're not the most protective hiking footwear available, but for the price & for doing any sort of cross country hiking other than mountaineering, these shoes are about as good as you'll find. It's a shame that the soles aren't made from a more hard wearing material because they do degrade noticably with use. The treads soon were down at the base of the sole making the shoes uncomfortable when walking on stony ground.

Really like my boots. Bought lady size boots and they're a perfect fit, cosy and dry in the wet, good grip on all surfaces, lightweight and sturdy. Will buy again.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, tough boots... While they lasted.

To give a little gravitas to this review, I should get things out of the way early by saying that I do a fair bit of walking. Twice daily I need to walk back and forth to work, which is in total about 3 miles. This may not sound like much, but on a daily basis it really begins to show if you're not wearing footwear that's up to the task.In a push to save money, I went through a couple of pairs of bargain-basement-priced 'walking boots' which seemed ok initially but it quickly became apparent that cheap shoes either leak or the soles on them wear down so quickly that they only last 2-3 months in the end, so buying them was in fact a completely false economy. After my last pair wore out I decided that it was time to get a decent pair of proper walking boots from a good manufacturer so, ever the bargain hunter, I set out on a quest to find a decent pair at a fair price. And, of course, it was after a quick search on Bolo that I found these beauties. The deciding factor was the fact that they'd been reviewed positively by 700+ people, holding a 4.5-star rating overall. This looked pretty good to me, oh and they were half price - so the deal was done and they arrived in the post the very next day.I've been wearing them for about a week now and am actually very impressed. They're incredibly comfortable and feel really well made. I've yet to test out how waterproof they are, but considering that Karrimor are a proper outdoor clothing manufacturer I've got no reason to doubt the claim. The soles of these boots are made out of a fairly firm rubber compound with nice big, knobbly treads so they feel like they're going to last - and they do grip really well in the dry. I have however had one unexpected slip in them in the wet, but I can forgive them as no matter what shoes I'm wearing, it can be a little bit nerve-jangling walking down Edinburgh's Mound, a fairly steep curved hill of paving on which I've seen many a denizen of Edinburgh take a tumble on.If I was to make one very small complaint it's that the provided laces are a little on the slippery side and have come undone a few times, but this isn't a deal-breaker. Overall, I'm very happy with these boots and as with all things it'll be interesting to see how well they're going to last. Fingers crossed I won't be buying another pair in three months!UPDATE on 01/11/2016...So I've been wearing these boots for over six months now and am glad to say that they're holding up really well to my daily walking. The soles still have plenty of tread on them and the uppers are more or less unmarked and are holding together really well. The insoles that some with the boots were, however, completely rubbish and started slipping and moving around after a few weeks of use, so I replaced them with better ones which are mercifully staying in place. Now, if you read that optimistic statement about the waterproofing of the boots and got excited, I'm about to burst your bubble... In short - they're not waterproof in any way, shape or form. I found my feet getting soggy after walking on long, wet grass with these on - so they most certainly won't hold up if you're looking to dance through puddles with them! However, I'm still pleased with these boots as they're as tough as I hoped they were going to be and well worth a look.Update on 08/02/2017...The honeymoon period is well and truly over. I am sad to say that yesterday I noticed a big crack in the hard cap on the right boot's toe and, on closer inspection, discovered a hole big enough to poke a finger through right behind the toe cap. The admiration I had for these boots appearing to be tough just vanished in a puff of smoke. They just lost two stars. Don't get me wrong, these are good, comfortable boots - but are not tough enough to stand up to a three mile hike every day.

Ayakkabı, ilk bakışta ağır gibi görünmesine rağmen yolda yürürken sanki hiç ayağınızda yokmuş gibi hissediyorsunuz bozuk zeminlerde bile.Son derece titizlikle düşünülüp yapıldığı anlaşılıyor.Emeği geçen herkes için çok teşekkür ederim.

Gran calidad.

La compré por referencia de mi primo. Ciertamente no exageraba cuando me abro de su calidad, confort y resistencia. Si a ello le sumas que estéticamente se ven súper bien, pues creo que ha sido una compra muy acertada.
