Good budget multitool.Good few little accessories, did its job and is still going after being put through a houserenovation and doing all the strange little jobs it was used for.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for the price

    L. · 7 July 2017

I brought one of these to replace a well-used Draper multi-tool, which was quite literately starting to fall to bits and an faulty Aldi version, which the store it was brought from refused to replace. There appear to be several brands selling very similar looking tools and I suspect they are all made in the same factory. This was one of the cheapest and it was interesting to see where the cost cuttings had been made.First off you *don't* get a carry case. Supplied instead is a cardboard box with the tool, a case of accessories (as pictured) and a zip-lock bag containing what is essentially a brief safety leaflet. The tool itself is middling; it lacks torque but makes up for that with rotational speed. No additional brushes are provided although there are ports to access them. I suspect replacements won't be that hard to find.Centering is about right, given the price and I had no problem making some fairly accurate cuts in thin solid aluminum tubing. One thing that annoyed me slightly though was the use of collets to hold the accessories. Three of differing size are provided although I would have much preferred a drill-style chuck. The largest of them is needed for the majority of the accessories but I found it was a tight fit. It's made of brass so no doubt will loosen a little with use.As for the accessories, these are cheap but I found the sanding drums of a higher than expected quality. The cut off discs on the other hand are *not* reinforced and are shockingly thin. I lost two in short order, once when trying to get the holder with disc mounted into the tight collet and another doing the reverse. On the other hand when used properly they were surprisingly effective and as previously mentioned made short work of the aluminum.I also tested two of the grinding stones, they are of the fine-grade type and both in appearance and effectiveness the same as every other cheap multi-tool stone I've tried. Other than that two things which annoyed me slightly was the omission of grinding discs, something which Draper provides and which can prove to be very useful, and the annoying tendency of the smaller sanding drums to block the closing of the accessory case. These though are pretty minor niggles.Overall you get what you pay for; I needed it in a hurry but will continue to use it. It's fine for light DIY and accurate enough for modeling work and the compatibility with Dremel accessories (which I didn't test) should allow the user to overcome the shortcomings with some of the accessories. Just go easy on it and don't treat it as a high-torque drill.

So I sceptical in using a brand I'd not heard off.I've always used a dremel, but to be honest this is a great bit of kit it's lighter than my dremel, easy to use and my dremel bits all fit it and half the price of my dremel.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for occasional hobby work

    R.L. · 12 January 2022

This is a copy of a Dremel, so it has all the features but not same build quality. I use a Dremel at work, so I know the difference. The case has a marked resonant vibration above half speed, so I wrapped the case in heavy duct tape which cured the problem. Don't cover the ventilation intakes or outlets. The cutting head shaft was slightly bent, so I had to straighten it before use. Once these glitches were fixed, the tool worked fine and will be great for hobby work, so suits me since it is value for money on a hobby level. If you plan on using a tool like this professionally, get a Dremel.

The attachments do not lock in place. Not sure if it’s faulty or it’s the norm with this product. However, I’ve contacted the seller, and had no response. Therefore, I would not recommend this item.Very disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars It works just fine . . . but

    P.N. · 7 August 2021

My first go at using a tool like this and from my inexperienced point of view I find it 'bitty' and probably should have purchased something a little more robust or just researched things I could have attached to my drill - that's the reason for a 4. For all those craftspeople out there who are into polishing stones or metal or making things and can specifically use this type of tool, I think this Hi-Spec tool is very good value, pretty good quality and seems sturdy - so in terms of value it's a good buy - so if I was a craftsperson I would give it a 4 as some of the attachments such as the sanding discs are bitty and too flexible and slide around too much.I used it to grind into a fibreglass section of a boat where there was limited manoeuvring room and it did the job. Too much pressure, too fast or too tight the disc will shatter but after a few goes I learned how to use it - a craftsperson would probably already know this so if that's not you I don't recommend it - find a drill bit attachment instead. The summary is: a good quality tool for the money; some of the attachments not the greatest; buy it if you are looking specifically for a tool like this

    Smooth and quiet

Hit or miss on Eva foam

    L. · 21 July 2023

Okay, to explain the colors on the photo:Red: the detailer on the slowest speed had a habit of cutting too deep, too fast, getting off track (mainly used the cone shaped metal tip for deeper designs) and borderline destroying the design (later used the pink tipped cone attachment to blend edges)Yellow: the detailer tip I first used (skinny metal one with a slight twist on the tip) was too shallow and only imprinted the foam, the next one didn't handle turns very well (the metal one that resembles a pencil tip)Blue: the tip I used often got stuck and suffered a lot of melted foam which caused extra clean up time (the pencil-like tip was used here)With that explanation done, my main issues were heavy product build up on the attachments which I had to scrub off with a baking soda paste and a toothbrush. Most of them were saved, but the pink tip sander one is still stained black and feels like the abrasion is already worn so I might just need to replace that altogether. These issues with the tip cutting too deep, getting off track and product build up happened on the lowest setting but foam is more delicate than plastic for a melting point and the directions insist to use lower speeds to avoid melting products such as plastic. The product itself is nice, lots of attachments and sander pieces, foam tips too and the brush attachment is so helpful for getting things ready to paint. The directions on changing the tips was confusing at first but I got it once I realized the flared out black cap was meant to twist off first. Also, if you're confused still after that you just need to hold down the metal button while turning the black nut to add the attachments that are smaller, the bigger ones get added right to the nut and you put the flare screw back on.

EXTREMELY dangerous device... Randomly accelerates to full speed ...

    R.H.B. · 2 July 2023

This is the third one of these I have had to order because they fail constantly. The first one, after several weeks of use, started suddenly accelerating up to full speed even though the speed setting was at the lowest possible setting on it. this is not safe because I use this along with cutting wheels and the last thing I need is for my tool to suddenly accelerate to ridiculously high speeds and go shooting out of my hand and end up cutting myself. I figured that maybe I just got a dub so I ordered a replacement one and within 3 days of starting to use it the little button that you use to stop the axle from spinning while you try to change the tool out.. that button just kind of popped off and went God knows where. fortunately I had managed to save the spring so I just use my 3D printer to make a new one to hold me over until Bolo could ship me a replacement. the very next day this one started doing the acceleration trick as well and I almost cut myself once again. the replacement arrived and I sent the old one back. this was two days ago. today I tried to use this new one and not only do the button come off yet again but also this one took off like a rocket at maximum speed even though I had the dial set for the number two. these things are incredibly dangerous, and an absolute liability to own. stay away from this tool or you will regret it.

    Works as expected.
