5.0 out of 5 stars Totally love this awesome cooker!
Makes the best risotto I've ever had, 30 minutes in total. I'd never normally make risotto due to time and hassle, but I love eating it, this cooker makes it in around 30 minutes and its the best ever! Easy to follow, but not many recipes come with it so you have to google (which is fine). Very easy to clean as it has so few parts. I would say though that the pressure cooker bit doesn't do nice stew, we use the slow cook setting after one failure. Its expensive but in terms of saving you on pans and washing up its great. The only other complaint (very minor) is that the recipe book is dishonest about cooking times as it doesn't allow for quite a long "preheating" before cooking can begin, but its not a problem, it beeps a lot so you can go and do something else and it'll let you know when its ready!
5.0 out of 5 stars Easily the best in its class
I'm a big fan of Sage equipment and have had many years of good service out of the slow cooker I got as a freebie when I bought a food processor, so it was a no-brainer to go for the Fast Slow Cooker Pro when the slow cooker reached its best before date. I have to say, this lives up to expectations. It's easy to use, versatile, efficient - and comes well packaged. I'd happily recommend it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant risotto
After 8 years of almost weekly use this risotto maker still works like a dream. Great risotto effortlessly. Not so good a a rice cooker but slow cook and fry functions are great. My fave kitchen appliance - and I have many!
4.0 out of 5 stars Would be perfect except ....rice always catches !
I waited until I had used all the functions before commenting. Pretty pleased with all aspects - apart from not being able to do rice pudding with milk and also rice does catch if you use the sear button to brown other ingredients first, slightly dispointed with this. The risotto setting works well, although I have yet to get the setting right for one portion. The fast and slow cooker works really well, so far I have done lamb shank, braised beef and chicken curry - all great. My biggest success has been the steam function, salmon, asparagus and sweet potato all done to perfectionIt also looks good and is easy to wash and store. So why only 4 stars - well the rice issue, plus the bowl does seem a bit flimsy. It's an expensive piece of kit, but it does a lot
5.0 out of 5 stars Astonishing
I read a newspaper article about this appliance (and several others in the same range) and after some deliberating, decided to give it a go. £99 is quite a lump of money to me,but I do quite a bit of rice based cooking, and use a slow cooker at least weekly, albeit mainly in the autumn/winter months.First off was basic straight forward boiled rice, that was fine and fluffy as it should be.Secondly I tried a mushroom risotto from Heston's recipes. Now,I make a lot of risotto, always using the same organic Arborio rice, and I consider that my efforts are quite good. I have to say that this machine put even my best efforts in the shade. Quite astonishing, the texture of the rice was superb. Really amazed that this could be produced using ingredients that I regularly use.Next, I decided to "go for broke" and went for a Lamb Biryani. I used one of my own recipes for this, and adapted it to suit the functions on my new Multi-cooker.The result exceeded even the previously mentioned Risotto Absolutely Outstanding. I marinaded the Lamb overnight in yoghurt and spices. Next evening I began by choosing the "sear" setting and put in more spices for 3/4 minutes, next, the onoins, followed by the Lamb and marinade mixture. When the meat was nicely browned,I put some lamb stock into the pot and switched the "slow cooking setting" on high. After a couple of hours, I put the rice into the mix,and switched to "rice" setting. Approximately 20 minutes later, the beeping told me it was ready. My oh my. This was a restaurant quality Biryani, and easily surpassed a good many restaurant meals. If you are considering whether or not to purchase one of these, then I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the Multi-cooker. Please understand that I am not given to over-enthusing about about things, and not given to buying "boys toys" for the sake of it. This is a machine that will be well used over the foreseeable future, and I am quite excited at the prospect of adapting my existing recipes for a whole range of meals. It's worth the money just to get that amount of enthusiasm. Love it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Practical and high quality
Great quality and easy to cook with
5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible
You've never had a ragu like this. You've never had risotto this quick.Slow cookers used to be giant machines that took up way too much space, hauled out of a kitchen cupboard for 2 occasions during winter before being put away to collect dust. Pressure cookers were generally thought of as saucepans with a prepensity for coating your kitchen walls in stew before going into the bin.No more! I love this thing. I love that I can sauté onions and carrots, before dumping in some minced pork, a wallop of red wine and sitting on the couch while dinner is essentially made for me. There isn't any chance of something boiling over or getting burnt, it's all carefully regulated so you don't have to worry about it. Risotto is amazingly easy, bourguignon is easy and incredible, potatos go from raw to mashed in minutes. If you have a slow cooker, throw it out and get this. If you are tossing up getting this or an InstantPot, the truth is you can probably get either, but this looks lovely, has finer pressure control, and generally a better user interface over all. The cookbook you get with it is very good as well. There are some issues though. You might think Bolognese takes the 20 minutes the preset is set for, but you factor in prep (10-15 minutes), building up pressure (5 minutes), cooking (20 minutes) pressure release (2-5 minutes) and then any reduction of liquids (10+ minutes) and it starts to add up. Don't think you can make dinner in 20 minutes with this thing because you can't. You often need to reduce things you cook as there is nowhere for the steam to escape to, so you don't get any natural reduction. Also sometimes the buildup of pressure can take quite some time, especially for Risotto.Still. Get it. It's amazingly versatile and a great addition to any kitchen.
