I'm a woman in my late 30s who's been losing hair due to a combination of stress, PCOS, and malabsorption for over a decade. It wasn't until the last year or so that I realised my hairline was severely receding. My temples were completely bare and my front hair line had been pushed back significantly, making my already large forehead look even bigger. I'm not a particularly vain person, but I was distressed. I was used to having bald patches on the back of my head that were covered by my waist length hair, but losing hair around my face was new.I looked into the various hair loss treatments, deciding the medication from the doctor had far too many side effects, and the shampoo didn't have nearly enough evidence that it actually worked, and so settled on the over the counter foam. If it didn't work then I'd only wasted 40 quid, and if it did, I could easily justify the price going forwards. It's no more than a coffee a week, if that. Incredibly, the "for women" version is twice the price for half the product, despite having identical ingredients now that they offer the same percentage of minoxidil. They suggest that men use the product twice a day, and women once, so I bought the "for men" for a much better deal and applied it once a day. When they say you'll lose hair when you start treatment, they mean it. But it is hair that you would have lost anyway, as part of the natural hair growth cycle, you're just losing it sooner. All of the hairs that I lost were very thin and weak compared to the rest still in my head. I didn't lose any thick hairs, or chunks, or start balding where I'd applied the product (on my temples and across the front of my hair line, where my hair loss was showing, even though there were many claims that this specific placement wouldn't work). I didn't have any topical reaction to the foam at all, except maybe some slight itching, but that could have been my imagination or even just the summer heat. I just lost the weak hairs that were going to fall out anyway, all at once, over the course of a couple of days. And then nothing.Within about a week of use, I could feel fluff on the previously completely smooth areas I'd been applying the product. Once nightly, although I definitely missed a few days here and there over the longer term. The foam itself dissolves quite quickly on the hand and I was finding it difficult to get it onto my head before it turned to liquid, which then ran down my face, so I started spraying it directly onto my head at one temple and spreading it across the top of my forehead to the other temple before rubbing it all in. Very sloppy, highly unattractive, but it worked for me. I made sure to massage the foam/liquid in to my problem areas until it had been absorbed, just like a moisturiser. Any that dripped down my face just got wiped up as I was washing my hands afterwards. It wasn't a big deal or difficult in any way. I managed to get my hair pretty damp when I was first figuring it out, but it dried down quickly and didn't leave any residue or need washing again or anything. I pretty much halved the amount they suggested using so that it stopped running down my face and didn't see any negative impact.Maybe a month after starting, I was losing one or two hairs every few days. Nothing at all compared to the brush full I'd have to pull off after brushing, or the massive amounts that would actually block the drain when I washed it. I switched to a Tangle Teezer as they're supposed to be more gentle, and carried on my haphazard application every day (or so) until last month, which was the 3 month mark. At this point I hadn't even finished the first of 3 bottles. That happened at 4 months, a few days ago.My hair has always grown fast, but I now have 3-ish inches of brand new growth around both temples and along my front hair line. I look like I'm growing in a rather pathetic fringe. There are still areas on my temples that haven't taken to the treatment and the hair is definitely not as dense as the rest of my head, but given the placement and the fact that I'm fair anyway, I feel like this is normal. I'm now applying the foam once every 3 or 4 days just to maintain what's there and have been doing this for a month so far without any hair loss as a result, although I'd not like to try and go without and have to start again. I've read a lot of people say that their growth started falling out within a week of stopping and complete loss occurred within a couple of months. Just the stuff they grew because of the foam, not their whole heads, this will not make you bald if you're not bald to start with. I've also noticed thickening on my head in areas where I haven't applied the foam, like at the back of my head where I do have thinning and patches but it can't be seen unless my hair is tied up tightly, and along my parting. I assume this is because the drug has entered my blood stream, but I haven't noticed growth anywhere else on my body increasing at all.I wouldn't say I'm a changed woman or that my hair loss has been completely reversed, but there is a very obvious and significant difference in pictures from July and November that I can only attribute to using this product. I had no expectations going in, but knew that if it did work, I'd need to keep using it. I don't see it as any different to taking a prescription medication, except instead of stopping a heart attack or diabetic attack, this stops hair loss. I still have 2 bottles left, and at the rate I go through it, they should last me until this time next year.I'd definitely give it a try if you're curious. A taxi home after a night out will cost you more, and you might end up surprised by the results. And if it doesn't work, there are options from your GP or even transplants if it comes to that. It's not going to work for everyone, but that's normal as we aren't all losing hair for the same reason.

I’m in my early 40’s now but noticed that I was in a losing battle with my hair when I was in my early 30’s, I got my last haircut in a barbers when I was 33. My head looked like a lollipop that had been dropped on a dirty carpet so I decided just to bite the bullet, accept baldness and start shaving it off myself. Anyway - I’d heard of minoxidil (from watching the Simpsons) and had never given it much thought until 5 months ago when I started wondering what it would be like to have hair again so after some research I decided to give this a try. Does it work? I would say it definitely does work but it’s not a quick fix and I’ve accepted that I will need to use this forever if I want to keep/have hair. I shaved my head regularly for the first 3 months of use then let it grow for the past 2 months with just a little trimming and the results are what you see on the pictures, first picture is 1 month of using this product (I shaved it off the next day) second picture is today 5 months after first use. I never thought this would work for me but I took a chance and it’s definitely doing what it’s supposed to. If you are considering giving this a try then please note that it’s not cheap and you will have to use this for life, I’m yet to decide if it’s all worthwhile but for now I’m happy with the results and I plan my first trip to the barbers next month for the first time in 10 years. FYI- I use as directed on the leaflet 1/2 (half) cap twice per day starting at the crown and massaging onto the scalp on the areas needed, it says on the leaflet it does not work at the temple’s but I’ve noticed a great improvement around that area. Ps: after 3 months of using this product and after a lot of research I started using finasteride too, I’ve had no side effects from either product but if you are considering using finasteride I would suggest that you research thoroughly and read all possible side effects and decide if you are willing to take the chance. Hopefully this review will help even one person decide either way if they want to go ahead and try this stuff or decide against. Good luck on the journey.
