My 5.5 year old daughter expressed interest in archaeology and this was such a fun way to introduce her to fossils and have a good at digging. Because the fossils are so robust there is no chance of damaging anything no matter how hard she digs at the plaster and the variety is really interesting. The little guide book gives age appropriate info. It takes quite a while to dig out all the fossils so it can last a long time. The plaster can get a bit messy so would recommend doing it in a container outside.

My daughter loved this and was hooked from the moment she uncovered the first fossil and now really enjoyed studying them and identifying which is which.As others have said, the brick is a bit hard to start with so it'd be best to add water to soften, but poke some small holes first to allow it to soak in. The fossils were also quite grouped together, so to get one out, you'd reveal another which had to come out first. And yes, this gets quite messy, which of part of the fun!We also found it quite tricky to get all of the plaster off when rinsing, and although we got all 15 out intact, the shark tooth broke whilst we were cleaning it, so I'd recommend being quite careful with them; some are more fragile than others and younger children might be a little heavy handed when digging.Overall, a brilliant gift for any child interested fossils/science.

This is the perfect gift for enquiring young people that is so beautifully low tech.I bought one for my granddaughter and one for my great nephew. They have absolutely loved ‘digging’ out their fossils & then identifying them from the enclosed booklet.If you’re wondering what to give a child who’s probably got a lot of ‘stuff’ already, you could do a lot worse ( may buy one for myself!) . Recommend.

My child loved this toy as did I. Great value for money and will keep kids entertained for ages, there are 15 fossils with a handy booklet clearly explaining what each one is and the set comes with the excavation tools needed. Adding water helps break up the 'rock' and makes getting the fossils out easier.I find most science toys underwhelming but this one was ace. A big thank you to whoever thought up this great kit - please bring out more like this!

Makes a great gift.
So much fun and worth the price!
This was an absolute blast for me and my boyfriend to do together. The fossils are beautiful and fun to learn about. I would highly recommend as a fun activity to do on a date night. Definitely not just for kids! Some of the fossils are tiny, so you really have to make sure you search thoroughly. We ended up with all 15 fossils. So worth it!

Despite everything, the kits of the company NG are a great discovery. I will certainly buy the kit with the stones, but not this one. Buon prodotto. Ho acquistato questo gioco come regalo per mio figlio di 8 anni.È stato molto apprezzato. Si è divertito molto a scavare e poi ad incollare tutto in una cornice (presa a parte). Ha portato poi il "quadro" con i fossili a scuola alla lezione di storia.Piccoli lati negativi:- fa molta polvere in casa durante i "scavi", quindi consigliato di fare all'aperto su una tovaglia di plastica,-certi fossili sono molto piccoli e quindi si fa fatica a trovarli (1 non abbiamo trovato!)- istruzioni in inglese
