This is a quality item and replaced the rusty tin can with a slot cut in the top that I've been using for blade disposal.The item is bigger than I expected and I can see it taking many blades and not needing emptied for years at the rate I change my blades.There seems to be some confusion in the reviews, or maybe some people have received a different item, but the bottom of this blade bank can most certainly be removed for emptying.It's a good purchase and will look nice next to my shaving kit. No need to hide away.

I started DE shaving maybe 2 or 3 years ago now, and could never go back to disposables or electric. The blades are plentiful, and cheap not matter what brand you pick, and you of course need some way of safely disposing of them after use. Some blades come with in a box you can put used ones into (Feather) but I prefer Astra blades as they maintain an edge longer in my use case (although I do use a Feather handle). This blade bank is a single-use item and so once it is full you have no choice but to dispose of it and buy a new one. I like that aspect, and will definitely buy another when this is full...which at my rate will be a in a couple of years so it's hardly bank-breaking.Edit in June 2023 - the new version does allow blades to be emptied without repurchase, and it's only just near full, 6 years on! Gotta' love Astra blades and their longevity.

Small and unobtrusive. This dispenser may be on the expensive side, but given it will last for years that's not really a problem. It's porcelain and looks good in the bathroom.
