5.0 out of 5 stars Strong and good quality clips
I have not actually used that towrope yet, but it seems to be very strong and of good quality. A good price as well.
5.0 out of 5 stars Much better than a rope
Towed my Mazda 6 Saloon about 15 miles and was a breeze to put together and much better than a rope. Make sure the towing eyes on both cars are on the same side, and let the lead car do all the accelerating and breaking. This is now an essential piece of motoring equipment that now lives under my boot floor- just in case.
4.0 out of 5 stars great bit of kit with some minor niggles / wishes
I bought this to save a £70 tow for my broken down smart car, Upon opening the package my initial concern was the gaps between the lock that goes over the towing eyes. The Smart car towing eye was quite thin and I was afraid that it could be forced out of the lock and the pole detach, so I wrapped lx tape around the lock closing the gap. This made it feel much safer and secure. The Smart was towed by an automatic Bmw X5, this didn't even recognise the extra weight on the back until we had to go up a steep incline when the X5 felt slightly more sluggish than normal. We kept the towing speed under 35MPH on a the by-pass (AA recommended 25MPH) and 15-20MPH on major roads. It helped that we had hands free phone contact between the two cars so the smart could start braking at the same time as the X5. The tow bar felt perfectly adequate to tow the smart and I would now be happy to try it on larger vehicles. I would like to see a secondary safety bond connected through the pole to both eyes, but that is my choice. The bag that houses that pole has an on-tow sign printed on it (To comply with the law, the towed vehicle must clearly display an ON-TOW sign) BUT it doesn't have any easy way of fixing it to the towed vehicle. I ended up cutting the corners off the bag and running a rope through it securing it to the boot.Make sure that the person driving the towing vehicle thinks well ahead for any manoeuvres and share what you're going to do with the car being towed - communication really does help.I'd happily recommend this TOW BAR for vehicles below 2.5/2 tons... Make sure that your car is capable of towing the weight of the on-tow car before you start.
5.0 out of 5 stars ... bought this AA heavy duty tow pole as I hate using rope
I bought this AA heavy duty tow pole as I hate using rope. When it arrived I was surprised by its weight. On opening the box, I saw that the storage bag it came in had a hole at one end so was worried that small parts might have escaped, however the parts are all secured with chains to the poles themselves. On putting it together for a practise, I found that the retaining pins to be very light and made of too thin a metal and I do not have faith in them actually staying in. I will be buying thicker ones independently as these look like they could fall out. The holes they go into are much larger than the pin so will accept a heavier version. The poles are bright red and are easy to put together. The 'On Tow' flag in the middle of the pole is a nice little touch.Coincidentally, on 14/01 I needed to tow my son’s car off a dual carriageway after the clutch failed. On setting about putting together the pole, I found it difficult to apply the whole pole to the towing eyes with it ready made. I had to separate the three parts, then attached each towing eye individually to each car then attach the middle section with a small amount of manoeuvring. Once built up it looked good. I instructed my 19yr old about the technique he would be experiencing which included the sound of the knocking metal. I shook the bar to simulate the noise to stop him worrying. At this point I realised that an improvement could be made by adding a hard rubber grommet that could be slid over the hook after attachment that would quieten the sound dramaticallyI will be going to a DIY shop looking for an ideal part. Once underway the towing was easy and well controlled. At times I had to slow or pull away from junctions, where the towing eyes banged against the towing hooks and made a horrific banging sound, I had to keep checking that he was still there.Once home, the towing bar was undamaged.I was going to buy one of the cheaper bars off EBay but I am glad I chose this one. It comes in a bright red bag that will sit in any boot, and as it only cost me £21:78. I have already saved over 3-4 times its value over hiring a breakdown vehicle to take the car home. I would highly recommend this bar
5.0 out of 5 stars Good product
Tow my son's car, 🚗+ value for money
5.0 out of 5 stars Does the job
Good to tow a car to a garage if you don't want to pay for recovery. Solid design and sturdy in practice. Used an insignia to tow a freelander 2 that had broke its clutch and stood up to the task. Hooks on to towing eyes and locks in to place. Spring softens blows when breaking. Will only work on tow eye not tow bar so make sure you have one.... as I found out the insignia doesn't have a rear tow eye so had to modify. Still worked amazingly.
5.0 out of 5 stars Tow rope

the product it self is easy to set up how ever i have only used twice and one of the hooks snap of as I was towing a car lucky we were able to pull over safely.
