This is a very good camera, I'am used to filming with very high end broadcast cameras Sony like pmw 400 xdcam costing 10k plus lens or pmw 500 ,fs7 35m so when i say this it good for the money it is ,just love it nice small light great as a back up if needed has high mbps recording which for me is good.. also headphones out mic jack in takes micro sd cards GREAT...

Bought this after buying a cannon but found the cannon wifi no good , so Sony , small camcorder a bit small for large hands, its pretty good but what lets this down is the Play memories that you have to download to view pictures first it refuses to view videos!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and if you try and take out the micro sd card then it is blocked by sony so you can only play videos on their web page !!!!!!! wished i bought Panasonic nowyou can wifi and thats good but it will not download videos to tablets also . it looks good onto tv by HDMI but need now to get a av lead so see if i can download to cd or dvdPretty poor development of software by sonyADD TO THIS NOW BEEN IN TOUCH WITH SONY SUPPORT AND TELLING ME THAT ITEM SHOULD BE USED IN ENGLAND SAYING SOFTWARE MIGHT NOT WORK IN GREECE WHERE WE LIVE EVEN THOUGH BOUGHT UNIT IN England ON STAR NOW

Wanted to get back into my filming after a lot of research I heard that this camera was very similar to the Sony pj series.So I made a decision to purchase it and I have to say for the price I am pleased.Firstly it has a socket for a microphone which is awesome some reviews I read said no but it does!The picture is very good better than expected and zoom really keeps quality along with a long ass zoom which is 60xThe touch screen is a good edition aswell as navigating menus etc is done with ease.I would say it's a very good camera for someone starting out and it's cheap.Also I was surprised with how small it actually was... I was like ohhhh really when I opened the box to be met with wow this is pretty goodObivously certain lights effect with motion blur but it pics up colours really well.The normal mic is what you would expect background noise etc but the details it pics up is awesome

Having returned the Canon Legria R806 due to its lack of sound input (unlike its US equivalent model with sound input!), I bought this Sony CX450 with mic input, only to realise later that its USB only has output and NO input! Yet Sony happily announces on their product guide that non-Europe models do have USB input/output!!! - See Sony's help guide - Model information section. Can Sony explain why Europe is discriminated against???My advice is: don't ever buy from Canon and Sony, and any other company who discriminate against certain consumers, unless they can explain why. Are the EU bureacrats forcing these manufacturers' hands in creating more product variations with less functions?!

My wife is a freelance singer and we needed a camcorder with the capability to plug in an external Mic so we can have a very high sound quality when filming her.The camcorder is small and light. The WiFi works with an iPhone, and appart from recording and zooming in and out, it is the only option you have. With a bit more work, they could have added the settings or more option...But that is the only positive comment I can say about it.The first time I tried the camcorder, the image quality is very poor and noisy. Indeed, it was in a room with not much light, but you would expect that the Auto mode would be able to handle it. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. As for the sound, we connected a zoom H1 to the camcorder and should a note be to high, the camcorder would automatically adjust it to lower level. (We recorded the sound at the same time with the zoom, and it doesn't do it, so I know the problem is coming from the camcorder) It can be problematic if you are recording someone playing the piano or singing a piece of Opera.I contacted Sony support who was kind enough to give guide on how to use the camcorder, and on my second attempt, even though it was in a room with a lot of natural light, the camcorder is still trying to adjust the image and there is still a lot of noise. Even on object that doesn't move! As for the sound, even though I had set it to manual, the camcorder was once again adjusting the volume by itself.So in order to use the video, I have to invest more money on a good editing software and a plugin which will remove the noise on the image.In conclusion, it may be a good device, but it is sad that you need to be an expert on camera and film in order to be able to use it. For £250, you would expect to have a camcorder that would be able to take a very high image quality without having to study photography...So you have the choice. Spend more money on a camcorder, or stick to the iPhone or Samsung phone which will take high quality videos automatically without all the fuss.
