About this item:
The SIGMA 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary large-aperture standard lens gives owners of mirrorless cameras the opportunity to experience the fun of shooting wide open, with F1.4 brightness. Photographers will enjoy the beautiful bokeh effect that only a large-aperture lens can offer and the exceptionally sharp optical performance expected from a fine prime lens. Leveraging SIGMA's latest technologies and design insights, this new lens fulfils the concept of the Contemporary line, in which varied elements come together in optimal balance. A prime lens with a 35mm equivalent focal length of 45mm and F1.4 brightness, it offers an angle of view very similar to human vision. The photographer can use the shallow depth of field at wide-open aperture to take stunning portraits and table top still life shots. A member of the high-performance Contemporary line, featuring SIGMA's latest technologiesFor optimal balance with light, compact camera bodies with a short flange back distance, SIGMA designed the new SIGMA 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary lens to be extremely compact. Moreover, the special design of the focus lens group allows fast and smooth AF performance for videography and more. This lens combines a compact design and comfortable operation while prioritizing outstanding image quality. Featuring SIGMA's latest technologies, this lens digitally corrects optical distortion. The front lens element features high-refractive index, high-dispersion glass for extra power and a shorter overall lens length. To optimize the lens for mirrorless cameras, two aspherical lens elements help ensure outstanding image quality and overall compactness. The SIGMA 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary features SIGMA's inner focus technologies, while lighter lens elements in the focus lens group make possible a more compact actuator. Moreover, this lens offers outstanding stability whether the photographer is shooting handheld or has the camera placed on a surface. Structurally, the lens features materials and parts that contribute to its compact, lightweight structure. In summary, this is an unprecedented lens that combines outstanding optical performance with exceptional portability and usability. Image quality rivalling that of our Art line lenses The large-diameter lens with F1.4 brightness makes possible a shallow depth of field for a beautiful bokeh effect-unavailable until now in a standard lens for mirrorless cameras. In addition to featuring an optimized layout and power distribution, this lens incorporates one aspherical lens element and one double aspherical lens element, as well as an element made of high-refractive index, high-dispersion glass with high anomalous partial dispersion. By effectively leveraging these technologies, the lens delivers an outstanding level of light to the edges of the image while minimizing lateral chromatic aberration. To correct distortion, the lens takes advantage of the image correction capabilities of the mirrorless camera body, using the corrective power of the optical system to enhance sharpness. The final result is an extremely compact lens that delivers image quality that rivals that of our Art line lenses. Shallow depth of field for a beautiful bokeh effect The large-diameter lens with F1.4 brightness makes possible a shallow depth of field for a beautiful bokeh effect-unavailable until now in a standard lens for mirrorless cameras. The 9-blade rounded diaphragm creates an attractive blur in the out-of-focus areas of the image. Fast and smooth AF By incorporating a stepping motor, the lens offers exceptionally quick and quiet autofocusing performance. This feature is especially useful when using the camera to take videos. This lens is also compatible with Sony E-mount Fast Hybrid AF. TSC used for a more compact structure and enhanced performance Since new material Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) is highly elastic, it exhibits minimal deformation. Parts made of TSC are therefore less prone to develop gaps between each other over time. The SIGMA 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary features a lens barrel and aperture parts made of TSC, which contribute both to the compactness of the lens and the smooth functioning of the aperture system. TSC helps increase the precision of cells holding lens elements and parts related to the focus lens group, further enhancing lens performance. Please attach a USB Dock to your lens' mount part, just like you attach your camera to the lens. Please use the supplied USB Cable and connect to a computer which has the dedicated software “SIGMA Optimization Pro” installed. For further information on how to operate the product, please refer instruction manual of “SIGMA Optimization Pro”. As long as the computers have the dedicated software “SIGMA Optimization Pro” installed and have an internet connection, you can change your computer and still operate in the same environment (excluding history of connected lens feature).

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow
I've attached a couple of unretouched, straight-from-the-camera examples that hopefully show the sharpness and bokeh of this lens, in low and bright light. What's great about the Sigma 30mm f/1.4? Firstly it's sharp and bright! I was able to get pin-sharp results handheld at night with just a table lamp in the room. Secondly, it feels like quality; with nice weight in the hand and is reassuringly solid to the touch. The focus ring turns like butter: perfect. Value for money, this is a no-brainer: the Sigma lens is easily as good or better than more expensive alternatives. My only possible question about this lens is the bokeh, which I'm still trying to make up my mind about. Purely subjective of course but is it a bit busy in bright light? Overall, this is a definite "buy" if you are looking for a very good quality lens with a bright aperture and don't want to spend a mint.
5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have m4/3 lens....with an advisory
I have recently switched to Micro Four Thirds from Four Thirds, and this lens has been the best thing about the move. Lives pretty much full-time on my Olympus OM-D EM10 Mk II (a great camera of itself). When I bought that I also got the Olympus 25mm f1.8.....an excellent lens in its own right, if there's a difference between that and the Sigma it's in the latter's colour rendering (I like full, rich colour and the Sigma deivers that in spades, maybe a little saturated for some tastes). And images are pin-sharp 9.5 times out of ten.The Sigma is a much bulkier lens than the Oly, but on the EM10 it adds substance to the overall look and feel of the camera in use. On the EM-5II it looks pretty standard, and is equally a joy to use.The advisory......reading about this lens online brings up references to a tendency to focus-hunt, even stopped down and in good light.....have to say I have seen this on the EM10 and it can be distracting. I will check it out on the EM5 as well. What appears to eliminate it is to set the camera to S-AF/MF, though I will monitor this aspect of performance. I can see that for some it would be a deal-breaker - it isn't for me as the all round optical performance is that good, and I'm finding 30mm a better focal length to work with than 25mm for everyday, carry-around use (though in a bag rather than a pocket given the size of the lens). On Olympus cameras the lens firmware is updated with the lens in-situ, and I'm using the most recent version. It's not a consistent issue, but it is a noticeable one, and hopefully there is a fix somewhere down the pipeline. I'm looking forward to the 16mm f1.4 version of this lens, and it would be a shame if that were similarly afflicted. But if you have an m43 camera, this is a lens you really must have. The focus issue is the only slight downside....in every other respect this is a lens you are likely to become seriously attached to. Go and enjoy.
5.0 out of 5 stars Quality lens and value for money
Amazing quality prime lens and well made. Low light performance is good and images are sharp and bright with creamy and smooth bokeh.
4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing picture quality and form factor, mediocre autofocus
Bought this lens for my Sony A6300 a few months ago. Using it for both photo and video but primarily video. It's nicely built as we've come to expect from Sigma's Art and Contemporary series. The picture quality is amazing, really sharp and the contrast & colors are very pleasing and natural to look at. Not quite on the Sigma Art level but certainly close which is amazing given the price. Like mentioned by many others, it's great in lowlight with a minimum aperture of 1.4 or if you simply want that shallow depth of field look. Sharp all the way through pretty much, I mainly shoot between 2.0 and f 11.The only flack I can give it is the autofocus which I'm surprised many Youtubers reviewing it, haven't talked about more often. It is pretty jumpy and hunts quite a bit when filming lower lit scenes or fast camera movements. It's not terrible but the main problem is that it is hunting a lot, so going back and forth when looking for the point to focus on. This means it can mess up some shots completely in certain situations as it is pretty jarring. I've tried to update the firmware and change/adjust my focus settings but it didn't improve by much.Concluding I would say this is a great portrait lens and amazing to film experimental or very controlled scenes (like low budget music videos, interviews or short films) with. Any run and gun stuff where autocus can be really important, I would use it sparingly. Picture quality & look are fantastic, build quality is top notch. Overall, a really nice product!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great lens, great value for money
I love this lens! :) The picture quality is sharp with nice colours and skin tones. The bokeh at f1.4 is lovely. I use it for landscapes, portraits, street photography, indoors, outdoors - it copes with alsorts and is my 'always on' lens. The only problem with this lens is that you don't get straight lines when photographing walls and other straight lines on buildings, however this can easily be fixed in post with a teeny bit of editing. I also have the Sony 35mm lens and although the problem with straight lines is not seen with this lens, the sharpness and picture quality of the Sigma lens is superior.
Absolutely stellar
I wasn’t sure if this contemporary lens was going to have the sharpness that I desired, but after shooting with it for just one day, I can tell you that this lens is far above any Panasonic or Olympus lens of a similar price.I wanted to purchase the art series lens, but since they don’t make that lens currently, I thought I would take a chance on this lens. I am not disappointed in the least. The color rendering of this lens is incredible. The fit in my Lumix GH6 body is absolutely Perfect. On top of that, this lenses weather sealed. I have already shot in inclement weather with this lens, and the results were stunning.10/10 for sharpness, 10/10 for color, 10/10 no chromatic aberration, 8/10 focus speed. Because I am using this lens on a contrast based auto focus system, I can’t speak to how accurate this lens could be on a PDAF system, but I will say that it is pretty good.If I ever upgrade to the G9II, or the GH7, I will follow this up with a report on how it performs with such a system, but as a micro 4/3 junkie, I can tell you that this is the best lens I own now.I own several LUMIX lenses, but this Sigma is the greatest lens that I could have added to my collection. I am already planning to purchase the other two in the same series. I am very happy.
I love this lense
It's a super sharp lense with a really nice look and style to the images it takes
Impresionante!
Great for Low light and f1.4 for nice Blur
The sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary lens is a good performer, especially at the price. Wide open, corners are slightly soft but very usable, and center sharpness is very good. Image quality improves a bit upon stopping down. Auto-focus appears to be good, with little hunting or missed focus. The Sigma is a very good addition to my lens collection, and will allow low-light photography where a slower zoom will struggle
Versatilidad
Con la lente no tienes que estar cambiando de objetivo a cada rato. Puedes tomar buenos retratos y buenos panoramas con la misma. Es excelente la calidad del material y definitivamente 3 escalones más hacia fotos más nítidas y profesionales
