5.0 out of 5 stars Great machine. Be aware; doesn’t cut thicker dies than thinlits!
I love this machine. My first one needed to go back because the pressure was to much. But Crafters Companion customer service was faultless and amazing. Sent out a new machine AND replaced my hot foil machine that also had an issue. But to keep me safe they replaced both. I as blown away by how helpful they were and how serious they took my issue. It does not take thick dies. Which is a bummer. And the pressure is so great you MUST make sure you watch the YouTube vid on how to look after the cutting plates and other plates. Or else you will end up needing new ones SO quickly. And make sure it’s a proper Crafters Companion vid.And DONT listen to the youtubers who tell you to do things differently! You could void your warranty. If you spend money on this machine, don’t get substitutes for plates! Pay the price. IF used correctly the plates DO last. You MUST learn how to rotate them correctly.Don’t bother paying extra for the magnetic shin with the measurements on it tho. It becomes useless very quickly because of the pressure leaving imprints on it. And they sell one without for cheaper themselves. Invest in some strong office clips to try to keep your plates as flat as possible. That helps too. I also put something heavy on top of mine when I am not using them. It’s worth having a full set of backup plates in case you need them. Don’t panic if it does stop half way! Take a deep breath. And press the backwards button! And do ring them if you need too. I found them so very helpful. And it’s an A4 size which is HEAVEN! I can do all my dies in one go! I am very pleased I brought this. The price could be a little cheaper I think. But I am still glad I brought it. It is VERY heavy. So be aware of that. Even tho it has hand grooves built in. If you have dexterity or arthritic issues get help to move this!It will NOT always cut intricate dies (tattered lace for example) first go. I was a bit disappointed with that, until I realised I wanted it to cut 300/400gsm. It didn’t like that at all. It annoys me you can only use flimsy card for those dies!! (Who wants a stationery case made of paper!! I want a really strong lasting one!!) And also this machine has a maximum card thickness card it will cut! Be aware of that, you who love mod board! It will not cut it! But when I did use thin card, the yes it cut the intricate tattered lace dies nicely. Do invest in one of their brush and foam release tools. They are wonderful. And they truly work! It makes removing small irritating bits a pleasure. And the tool itself is well made. The foam IS just foam! But it does work. They come together and I paid under £7.So. If you intend on this. Pointers: You are making and INVESTMENT so1. Spend extra on another set of complete plates. Proper ones. It’s an investment. Cutting corners costs!2. It will NOT cut thick dies. Only thin metal ones like thinlits, tonic thin ones or crafters thin ones.3. It only cuts up to a certain thickness of card! Unlike the manual crank machines.4. It’s heavy. Very heavy.5. Watch those Crafter Companion tutorials for how to use it, and how to extend your plates lives. Don’t do the ‘tips and tricks’ of other you-tubers breaking the rules, UNLESS you don’t care about your warranty!6. DON’T buy inferior plates! They don’t last and they will void your warranty!7. The crackling sound is normal! It’s the pressure cutting out your die. Don’t panic!
5.0 out of 5 stars No more turning handles!
I use dies for card making and for collages and love this machine. I found it came at a reasonable cost, is easy to assemble and use and the results are great. The one thing I found a little awkward is that, in order for the machine mechanism to grip the sandwich, I have to lean on the sandwich to propel it through the slot until the mechanism takes it up. After that it goes through easily. It can make cracking sound when it goes through, but I found I stopped worrying about it after a while.
5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Gemini Global Version Machine
What a fabulous die and embossing machine. I wish I had bought one years ago! I have two manual machines and was struggling with intricate dies, but with the Gemini, all it took was one pass - absolutely BRILLIANT! For those, initially like me, I wondered what the difference was between the 'Global' and original version, all I can say is, I received two Power cords, one was a 3-prong plug power cord and the other was a 2-prong plug power cord. There is also a black 'On/Off' switch on the back of the machine, which makes me think that is why it is called 'Global', correct me if I am wrong! I also received 2 x clear cutting plates, unlike others which have a purple base cutting plate and a clear cutting plate. All I did was mark one of my clear cutting plates to make it clear to me that, that one was the Base plate and NOT to be used as a cutting plate! Now all that is left, is to get used to what sandwich to use, and for what, as its very different to the sandwiches I use on my other two machines - however, the User Guide and video's on the Gemini are very informative. I am such a happy bunny, and so far, I know its early days after the purchase, and time will tell, but I certainly don't regret buying the Gemini.
4.0 out of 5 stars Think think this is is the best and easiest to use cutting machine on market
This is my second Gemini. Bought the other one nearly ten years ago, second hand, so its had some use. No messing with the cutting plates, just one way for die cutting, embossing, 3d embossing etc, no having to figure out plate order. I love it, hence ordered the second one. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars, is that the pressure is so good on it, that the plates are not fit for purpose. dies cut into both plates and plastic shim so they won't last long, and will mark cardstock. They should talk to Slipscreen.co.uk, as they make cutting plates that will outlast the machine. 6 yrs so far with these replacements and no warp or cutting into! Sorry, but they need to be told! there are better alternatives to the plates, but not for the machine itself.
5.0 out of 5 stars If you cut a lot, this is a dream.
I've been resisting buying an electric machine but, because my finger and wrist arthritis has worsened, it finally made sense (especially with a good price and five months free credit). I used it for the first time today and achieved in thirty minutes what used to take four times as long with my Sizzix. The top cutting plate splendidly bowed (as rhymes with slowed) but, following the guides and tips on YouTube about turning and revolving, by the time I finished it was scratched on both sides and back to flat. Every cut was clean and any poking was very easy to do. I will order some spare cutting plates, considering the use one can get from them the cost is very reasonable. It is not overly noisy, easy to operate and will certainly make my Christmas creations easier to do, saving my fingers for the delicate stuff. Further update; today I tried using my Gemini Foil Press for the first time, having bought the extender plate so it would fit the Gemini. YE GODS, the palaver you have to go through so the machine accepts the plate, the horrendous clunking as it goes through and the utter lack of any info anywhere about these possibilities is not reassuring. I like foiling so have bought the Gemini Junior purely for that, I don't want to muck up my big machine.
Good product but over priced in India.
The product is good I like it but I still feel that it is being over priced.
Gemini electric die machine.
Love this item and that it has the wider plates. Very easy to use.
Efficace et simple
Ma précédente machine manuelle m'ayant lâchée, je me suis tournée vers celle ci.
