5.0 out of 5 stars Great item, great price
Strange review this one for me as the product is good and does exactly what I wanted it for but in hindsight I wish I’d bought a different piece of equipment. I picked this up as I wanted to start incorporating dips into my programme and I’m not strong enough to do them on my gymnastic rings just yet. I’d tried them on the corner of my kitchen unit (tip I saw on YouTube) and it actually works but you can’t lean forward much to target the chest. I saw this dip station and thought they were a good price.Construction was fairly simple, you’ll need two 17mm spanners, ideally a socket wrench and one spanner and large Philips screwdriver. One spanner/screwdriver to hold the bolt in place and the other spanner to tighten the nut. You don’t need someone to help but if there’s someone handy to help you’ll build it faster. After a couple of workouts the station seems solid, no wriggle or bend. I’m 6ft and the height is fine, you do have to bend your legs but you have to do that anyway with chest focused dips. Built as to the instructions the handles do go very wide at the ends, I had to have my hands at the narrowest point and it feels okay but still wider than I’d like. An optimal hand position for the dip is right by your sides. As per other reviewers have mentioned you can build it the opposite way so the bars go inwards which is how I’ve chosen to have it.My only real criticism of the station is that it has a very smooth gloss finish all over including the handles, I’d like to have seen the handles have rougher finish, maybe even some knurling to help with grip. I may actually take some sand paper to it to help with that. After building and using the station I wish I had spent a bit more money and bought parallel bars instead as you can do dips just as well but they offer more versatility in terms of exercise selection and they’re easier to move around.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great piece of kit
Have been wanting to add a dip station to my home gym for a long time, but in the past have found the ones that can take my weight (I'm 15 stone) plus extra poundage on dip belt, to either be to expensive or poorly reviewed, so never pulled the trigger on purchase. After receiving some gift cards recently I saw this one, and, after reading the mostly positive reviews I decided to take the plunge.I am glad I did.Being only 5ft 7 and a half inches tall the bars are a perfect height for me, anyone over six foot might struggle however as the height is not adjustable.Despite the horizontal bars being tubular and held in place by a weld they are incredibly sturdy.I like the taper design as well, allowing for various width settings to allow for tricep or chest focus. It was relatively easy to assemble, but I agree with other reviewers that if you don't have the right set of spanners it would be a pain, fortunately I did, but the set does not come with any.The item arrived in perfect condition and looks great in the home gym.I paid just under £45 for this, free delivery, and it arrived a day after ordering so no quibbles there.Overall, a must for your home gym, worth every penny.Highly recommended.
4.0 out of 5 stars It's a good product but there's a reason for less than perfect rating.
So I really like the product and as far as value for money is concerned, this really hits the nail on the head. It's great for dips as intended but you can also do leg raises on it as well as using it for a good rest station between sets of squats for example.I'm 6'3" and it's a good height for me. Overall I would definitely buy it again, so the product does what it was intended for. So why the 4 stars?Firstly, those plastic/rubber non-slip protection caps. There are four of these caps and typically when purchasing products like this (experience with aluminium industrial shelving and this) some of the caps tend to be deformed or produced with an imperfect angle to fit it onto the desired place. This is annoying because it's usually the first step in the assembly and can leave the person assembling it thinking "what other problems may arise?"It took me 15 minutes to try to force the pads onto the metal which resulted in the paint being chipped and still they don't fit properly. That said, they're on, so unless we experience an earthquake I think they'll stay on.Aside from that little defect, it's also worth noting that using a wrench solely might not work. I ended up using a 17 ratchet spanner as well as an 11/16 open headed spanner to tighten the hexagonal bolts. And a large flat head screwdriver and 17 ratchet for the countersunk bolts. Do be careful when putting the product together to keep the countersunk holes at the bottom of the frame as the instructions don't give a heads up on this one.Overall it was about a 45 minute set-up time, which on the grand scheme of things isn't that long. Someone experienced will most likely do that in half the time.I'm not going to lie, I'm somewhat skeptical of the lack of weld in the handles to the frame so I tend to hold the handles near to the frame (about two inches away). That said, welds tend to be quite strong so it should be ok.Definitely, a five-star product for the price but with the minor issue of the pads and the absence of all the tools required it's left me giving it a very honest four-stars.Oh, and one final point to take into consideration. Often when I purchase a product off Bolo the delivery time is on point. Other times, despite ordering in the specified time required for next day delivery I still sometimes get deliveries 2-3 days late. Now I ordered this on Friday night and upon receipt, I noticed delivery on Tuesday. Bit annoyed about that (I like next-day delivery) but to my surprise I got the delivery on Sunday. So that's brilliant.
5.0 out of 5 stars great alignment
very strong feel - solid.angles dip bar for this price excellent.im 6ft and can dangle my feet if i straighten them. great for releasing lower back pressure.angled dip makes for more natural feel ,hold .will need to 2 spanners for the bolts - which are solid in them selves. perfect for frame.i did fit by myslef.
5.0 out of 5 stars Bargain, solid product, Need two spanners to assemble
The polls flare out making it more comfortable to do dips on, Easy to put together, Surprisingly sturdy, i weigh 100kg/220lbs. Need two spanners to assemble (metric), Doesn’t come with any grip on the handles (bare powder coated metal), so I got some gorenation grip-tape 10m for about £8 that is really good
3.0 out of 5 stars Well built, bit wide.
Study and well made easy to assemble. But, bit wide when used, I will adjust them to suit. Just bear in mind when buying, one size does not fit all.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good.
