Got a pair of these XA PRO 3D GTXs to complement my old GTX X Ultra 3s. These primarily differ in that they have a rigid plastic arch plate.Objectively, this makes them easier to use for long trail hikes over rocky ground but on the flip side they do take a bit of time to wear in and mold to the foot (the X Utras fit like a glove pretty much from day 1).The sole tread seems similar to the X Utras, in that it's quite soft so they do wear. (the X Ultra 4's look like they've got a longer lasting tread pattern). I reckon I'll get maybe 250-300kms out of them by the time the lugs under the sole are worn pretty low. I'd have liked Salomon to use a slightly harder compound: the uppers are still going strong but the soles are dying.Both mine are GTX and it's a nice to have when it's wet. I don't have any issues using them in the heat. The autolacing system works great and I find them very comfortable, even if you have to tighten them every couple of hours. You have to do that with laces too, so the convienience is great.All in all these are both great trail hiking shoes and light enough to run with for shorter distances. If you are carrying serious weight you may want something with a hardered tread compound as the do wear fairly quickly. The flip side of this is they provide sure footed grip on most surfaces, even in the wet.Recommended, I'd give them 4.6 stars, dropping the 0.4 points because I wish they had a little more durable (longer lasting) soles, but well worth it if you can get them at a discounted price.

Firstly I suffer from Plantar Fasciitis in my right heel, I was looking for a firm heel in a trainer and read the reviews on these, I can confirm these are amazing and after just 2 days my foot is feeling much better.My only tip is if your a size 9 then get a 9.5 as they are a tight fit as I found out when I ordered the 9 and had to return them. But 100% recommend these

Ok, I admit it, I no longer run, however I have done and ran sufficient times to have warranted two knee replacements. So I am walking rather than running in this pair of shoes. What I believe that they are is very suitable for trail running, particularly over rough terrain as they provide far better support than the normal trainer and when this is combined with the rigid arch plate, they could even be used for ascents and descents on steep slopes. Combine this with gortex material which should keep feet dry, and more importantly dry off quick if the feet get submerged, make this an ideal all weather walking shoe.In terms of comfort, it is early days for me, but having walked in them with our dog to get them worn in, I feel that they could and should pose no problems for me feet. What I don't like about this shoe is the pointless quick tie auto-lacing, as I am not confident it will last, I am sure of it. I haven't had a pair of this type of shoe where I haven't had to change the laces and the laces in this shoe don't look as strong traditional laces. Additionally the clamps which holds the lace is unlikley to grip the laces as it gets subjected to the elements and stresses of bendinng your foot. No problem, just fit new laces? Nope traditional laces will be difficult to fit through the loops on these shoes, so it is a case of wait and see, I hope that i am wrong. 4 stars on the basis that these excellent shoes are spoilt by the laces.

The shoes replaced a pair of size 10 shoes that were exactly the same - I wear a size 9 gentlemans shoe (Loakes/Jones's) but need a 10 in Nike etc. Have always bought size 10 xa pro 3d Gore Tex in black but in 2022 walked around Disney Paris in the Salomon only for both big toes to turn black. It took me over a year to grow out the disgusting nails. Being tight I was determined to wear the shoes out before trying a 10.5. They've arrived - I bought used but as good as new and OMG they are like brand new and really do fit so much better. As my big toes had worn through the gore tex in the old ones - thrilled to be waterproof again. These shoes really are legends - love the v7 version for grip and durability and will buy as long as there is stock.

High quality, superbly comfortable fit and stylish to boot!These are the 2nd pair of Salomon walking shoes that Ive purchased and have done so because of the high quality, durability and supreme comfort.My 1st pair of Salomon goretex lasted 8 years and walked, Australia, New Zealand, Tasmania, The Big Sur, CA, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, France, Spain and numerous walking locations in the UK!

Well built sturdy and look super cool.But without a doubt the most uncomfortable pair of shows iv'e ever had. At first i put it down to not being worn in.But after 2 months and god knows how many miles, iv'e decided to give up trying to wear them in.The toe area is just to small, with not enough give in them to ever be worn in.i'd previously bought a pair of salomon speedcross 4, which i'd had no problem with. infact they're the most comfortable pair of shoes iv'e ever owned. i'd hoped the GTX was an upgraded version of what i'd bought before.God knows where they went wrong with the design? But my pair have never felt like a size 9 to me.i'll be contacting the makers to try and get a refund.Avoid these shoes, total waste of money.

Again, 3rd pair of salomon’s ive now owned. You can walk unlimited miles in these and arrive feeling like you can do it again. Anyone disagree? Fab fab fab. I hike at least once a month in all weathers and these take a beating in both sense of the word.

This is the third pair of these I've had, and I suspect they've changed the design slightly as it is a little smaller than previous, and the 'laces' are shorter so less easy to get your foot in. I would suggest that you go up a size from what you would normally wear. ½ a size isn't enough as I've found out to my cost... ☹️Delivery and service was spot on though 👍

Great pair of shoes!
I had my first run in with Salomon products in Europe when I decided to try skiing out. Everything was a rental from the boots (Salomon SX91, the bindings were Marker and the skis were K2) The boots fit like a glove and there were no pressure points at all on my feet.Forward to 2024, I ordered these XA PRO 3D Gore-Tex Trail Running Shoes to try on because the brand I was going with for my duty footwear kept changing their design and they finally ran out of the model that I liked so I figured I'd try these out. Bolo has this "try before you buy" program so I decided to go that route.These shoes are designed for on-road and off-road as they have an aggressive lug sole that is comfortable and a reassuring grip. The shoe is built well and has a comfortable sole. The lacing system is different and it didn't take long for me to like the speed lacing system that Salomon uses for their shoes.These shoes do need a bit of a break-in, about three days.I was impressed with this pair that I bought another pair to switch up for my uniform.Mar 31,2024 (update) I've had these (I bought 2 pairs) shoes now just short of 2 months and daily wear and I have to admit, other than the fact that it's a little on the small side (it broke in really well) I am still happy with my purchase and they're holding up well.

Super Qualität und Passform
Genial konzipierter Allrounder, der einerseits warm und andererseits trocken von innen und außen hält. Neben Trail, Biking und Hunderunde nutze ich des tollen Designs wegen den Schuh auch zu alltäglichen Anlässen mit Mischwetterlage. Kurz gesagt: wann immer ich rausgehe, bin ich positiv gebeugt, den Salomon mitzunehmen. Wie sich der Schuh bei richtig kalten Temperaturen verhält, kann ich als Kölner vmtl nie mit Gewissheit bewerten, aber für die rheinische Tiefebene inklusive Stadionbesuch in Pokalspiel des Effzeh gegen Hertha ist er perfekt.
