I don’t usually do reviews but feel I have to on this purchase to help others with an honest review.Well like probably lots of you I have so many old CDs that I haven’t used and we’re now in an era of music online , I found a way of rekindling with my old tunes.The radio was great from the first touch , found 90 stations on the search . Haven’t changed it from a station that I’ve never heard of but it’s right up my street .The sound is great , the sound can be loud without losing quality . I paid just under £100 with a voucher and it’s on par with more expensive well known makes .I can vouch for that , nearly 3 times the cost.The sound is clear , sharp and ideal for kitchen : lounge and outside too.Loud and clear enough on level 1 the lowest settling , I used at 8 am today in fact .It is punchy enough to get you dancing with the kids like a loon too!Overall it’s a great addition currently to our kitchen , looks great (walnut )Modern and sounds great.Also you can add an external player to it and there’s Bluetooth option also.I still have the stacking seperates stereo in my workshop delivering my punch , but this new system is ideal, even perfect for us , not taking too much room , looking modern and sounding crisp , without annoying the neighbours yet! 🤐. Enjoy .

Considering the low price, I am pleased with this purchase. As a fairly old musician, slightly deaf, I needed a cheap unit to play my considerable collection od CDs; with a radio combined, in my fairly modest kitchen. A surprisingly good sound for Classical, jazz and more unusual stuff! Small gripe - max volume is not very loud, particularly for classical CDs. (not because I'm slightly deaf!) The sound of the DAB radio is excellent, I mainly listen to speech radio. My main complaints are with the instruction manual - poor print quality and very small - I have to use a magnifying glass with my glasses to read it, Unlike some reviewers, I found instructions for setting up the stations and other features very confusing. Still not properly mastered! There are also long delays in changing stations and from CD to radio. The display is very poorly lit, and very small and the remote is a little flimsy But a good sound, looks good, and satisfyingly cheap, so 4 stars.

1) A well made and attractive sound system.2) Sound quality of radio on all BBC stations + DAB stations all very good here in Newcastle Upon Tyne and were easy to set up using the adequate instruction manual.3) CD sound quality excellent.4) Blue tooth pairing with iPhone for streaming with Spotify easy and works well.5) Equalisation control allows setting sound characteristics to suit individual taste eg:- ROCK, POP, NATURAL, CLSSICAL, JAZZ. I have it set to classical for every thing which suits my ears very well.6) Headphone out put is very useful for late night listening the volume control on the remote works well but BASS , TREBLE and EQUALISATION do not adjust from the remote so you must set these adjustments before you plug in your headphones.7)The Remote Control is very good and well laid out but switching over from CD to Radio or changing radio stations there is a delay of about 5seconds but you quickly get used to it8) The system has adjustable BASS and TREBLE controls which I use and are excellent for adjusting sound quality to individual taste.9) The control buttons on the radio facia panel are well placed and work well but the markings on them are difficult to see but I use the remote control for every thing so its not a problem for me.10) USB input for iPod works well but I have not yet tried connecting the TV to use the radio as a sound bar but as every thing else seems to work I think that it will be just fine.CONCLUSION:- I am delighted with this radio sound system and very pleased with the sound quality. I have it set up in our main sitting room which is fairly large and the volume can be tuned up to room filling without distortion. I do have a HI-FI system set up in another sitting room for serious music listening but I find myself listening more often to this Oakington radio because it is there and its just nice. My purchase was influenced by the reviews I read on the Bolo web site and I hope that anyone reading my review finds it helpful.

I was looking for a mini hi fi system so I could play my old CDs but was disappointed by the limited range available at reasonable prices. I have very good neighbours and do not wish to annoy them with loud music so wanted a good, basic system which offered DAB/FM stations with a CD player. Most of the other options only offered a one year warranty as against this one with three years - says a lot! Sounds very good, programme selection and storage easy and quality through headphones every bit as good as it needs to be. I would highly recommend this unit, particularly at it's very competitive price.
