The media could not be loaded. This is a review of the Kmise mahogany beginner ukulele set. I purchased this as my only other soprano is a much lower quality laminate from another manufacturer which i bought on Bolo (and did not get favourable review) and performs poorly so I wanted something to take out and about and enjoy. This is more than a welcome replacement, this has actually got me loving the soprano body again from many months away playing on concert/tenors.In the kit -I got a generic branded tuner, spare strings (unlabelled manufacturer but Aquila style nylons), padded gig bag and gig strap, fret sandpaper, chord diagram and starter guide. None of those bits are standouts or amazing, but I love how this is set up for a beginner - it is everything you need, even if you don't think you need it. Considering most other manufacturers barely supply a gig bag for Ukulele's that are £100-£300, and this is very much welcome. The ukulele -Pros -This is as described - a solid mahogany body, really nice touches like the sealed gear tuners, very nice feel with a wider than expected fretboard allowing me to play through chords with ease given my pudgy fingers. It has real bone nut and saddle, and some very nice feeling thinner nylon strings (almost like D'darrio Titaniums to feel). I cannot fault it for how it looks. It also holds tunings really well - in fact better than another of mine that cost triple the amount! Tuned on day one, pretty much the same there after - testament to those closed geared tuners.Cons -Free tuner is generic and you might be better off with a better one, and being ULTRA picky also it had a couple of marks on the fret metal itself around frets 11-13 presumably where strings compressed onto the fret or from manufacture. The logo is a screen print but might be nicer as a laser etch branding, and the faux abalone rosette markings are screen printed too but otherwise the item is blemish free - no damage at all. I also note it is not a gloss finish, but has a light lacquer so bear that in mind - play with clean hands and wipe any grease, skin oils or such away to keep it protected, or you will have the odd mark from playing. Those are all areas that I can live with for this price point and the only indication this is not a £150 model.Sound quality -The ukulele has a real bright quality springy sound with a surprisingly good bass undertone which comes from the sound hole. This projects really well with good intonation and the resonance is certainly up there with my concert sized solid wood Ukuleles, and not at all cheap and twangy. In terms of quality, it sounds as good as something that costs double the price. Sure, if you have £300 soprano's (and more skill at playing than me) then this *may* sound less impressive but Ive included a video of the sound quality because I actually think it sounds like it should be double or triple the price. It just feels so bouncy and nice to play, it is just so fun!Overall -Simply unbelievable that for around £40-50 you can get a solid wood option that has as many features as this - from looking, I cannot think of anyone else making something like that, let alone with these features. I mean this is literally as well made as a £100 option from well known brands like Kala, but at a price where most are laminates/part laminates with thick poor quality strings or half the features (ABS instead of bone for example). I mean most of the Ukulele's in the world are made in the Far East anyway, so it is amazing to see a manufacturer who cares about quality (as in using best features like the closed gear tuners) as much as this to ensure it sounds as good as it can for the price they offer it at. Thus, for me as a result, it is not a cheap toy, but a seriously nice instrument. As a beginner, there are millions of options, but for anyone seriously starting this is just perfect and I'd strongly suggest this is a good place to start and will make sure you get a lot of use before you need to start treatment for your inevitable UAS (Ukulele Acquisition Syndrome). For that matter, it also suits anyone like me who wants a cheap playable addition but have features of a very high quality Ukulele as a *cough cough* 6th 'extra' to compliment an already strong collection (aka UAS!) this is just hands down high quality for a great price. I am extremely happy with my purchase as I am sure you will be.

As a retired person I need to consider carefully before spending a chunk of my pension on any new interest or hobby but I have a few friends that enjoy playing the ukulele and i fancied having a go myself, so I started looking to find one that would be good enough to learn with, and still be good enough to be able to enjoy playing - hopefully for several years to come !There are plenty of cheap ukuleles available, and advice from several sources was that there was no need to spend too much on one to get started, so with that in mind I started my search with Bolo and liked the look of the Kmise Soprano outfit that came with a soft case, and a spare set of strings with a neck strap and basic handbook. From what I could see online, the ukulele looked to be nicely finished and had some good reviews, so I decided to part with £49.99 and make this my first ukulele purchase, even though I know of nobody else that had bought one of this make.On delivery I couldn't have been more pleased. The finish of this ukulele was first class and it looked and sounded like a much more expensive instrument. The neck has a lovely "low action" that makes it very easy to play (with no buzzing from the frets) and the tone that it produces is absolutely beautiful. The soft case is also good enough and the included neck strap fits and works as it should, so my first two days of ownership has been very encouraging.Ownership day 3 however, brought me back down - with a bump!Bolo started selling this exact same ukulele outfit for just £39.99 - a massive £10 less than I had only just paid for mine! Naturally this has not been received too well, but I could send it back after ticking the reason for making the return as "found at a better price elsewhere".In an attempt to save unnecessary handling (and courier charges), I have asked Kmise (via Bolo) if they would consider giving me a £10 refund, or a voucher to spend on another Kmise instrument in the future so I can stay with this excellent manufacturer/supplier without the hassle of returning this ukulele to them only to re-purchase exactly the same one again to save myself £10.This £10 saving is 25% of its overall cost, and this makes an already very good instrument package an absolute bargain - unless (like myself) you had only just paid £49.99 for it!****Kmise customer service is outstanding - they refunded the tenner! I can definately recommend buying Kmise - and I will doing so again in the future!Thank you Kmise.

This is perfect for the beginner budding ukulele player. Every thing needed to get started is included here: a nice ukulele, soft case, tuner, spare strings, strap, even a basic tutor book and chord chart. The ukulele I got had low action which made it easy to play. It has a nice mellow sound and the intonation is good which means it stays in tune at all frets up the fret board. The tuning gears do their job and stay in tune after the strings have bedded in. The tuner is easy to use and caters for different instruments, so make sure you choose the uke option. The uke has two strap buttons instead of the usual one and the strap has a boot lace so that you can choose between tying the strap at the nut end or using the strap button on the neck. I prefer the latter. The tutor book is very basic but is good enough to get you started. I suggest getting a book with more interesting tunes in once you have mastered the basics.I have had Kmise stuff in the past and have not been disappointed and this uke is no exception. I think anyone would be pleased with this beginners bundle and represents good value for money.

    Laute Akustikukulele
