5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth, good body, good range of colours.
As I usually paint in acrylics or watercolour, gouache takes some handling. Putting highlights on a watercolour, for instance, can kill it if you overuse it. I shall use it as a separate medium. Nice paint and it will be a useful addition. Good consistency and value for money.
5.0 out of 5 stars Would buy again!
The box comes with a wide range of colors, the paint is nicely pigmentated and bright. Given the quality of the colors and their price, I think this was the perfect purchase for a beginner such as me.I think this could also make for a nice gift. Overall, very happy!
4.0 out of 5 stars Gouache that gouaches
Paint sometimes dries and seals the tube such which isn't ideal for weaklings like myself. Other then that this paint is alright. Not the best I've used but pretty good if you're starting out, so long as you have good grip and strong arms for when the paint doesn't want to be used
5.0 out of 5 stars Arteza gouache
Despite quite low price point, this is really good gouache paint.Colors are vibrant, mixes easily into different shades. Most of the paints are very opaque with good coverage.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic paint for the price
Excellent paint for less than £1 per tubeGreat for honing your technicVery happy
5.0 out of 5 stars Seems great
I'm super new to gouache I initially baught daler rowney simply gouache at range (I'd previously sworn to never get paint from there again as I always have problems but it had been a while and I had problems so back it went)So I have seen a few people using this one YouTube and it really looked like it was my kind of thing I looked at all the gouache paints no idea what to get I wanted good paint but what if I didn't like it?So this seemed to fit the bill I've had a chance to play with it now it really is highly pigmented I had to dilute so much to get it to appear lighter it's smooth as butter and not streakyI'm tempted to try their other paints now
5.0 out of 5 stars excellent opacity! If I wanted transparent I would use watercolours.
I recently started painting with gouache again, after a break of many years. I bought some gouache paints made by two other famous brands. However, I found some of the colours were not very opaque and dried looking very patchy, which was disappointing. In fact some colours were so thin that I needed to use two coats of colour, which is tricky (made me swear a lot) on large areas with lots of detail. I started reading reviews of different brands of gouache, in an attempt to find a more opaque range. Several reviews praised Arteza, so I took the plunge and bought some and so far I am impressed. On the label of each tube is a little square conveying information about the opacity of that colour. If the square is filled, the colour is very opaque, a triangle in the square means not so opaque. The colours provided are fairly vibrant and have transformed my paintings. Unfortunately I was half way through a painting when I changed to this brand, so half of the painting looks OK'ish and the new half looks much better :-) Anyway, I would recommend Arteza gouache, it won't turn me into Botticelli, but I am working on it!
4.0 out of 5 stars Great beginner's set
I bought the 24 tube set, and also a 24 half pan paint tin by Arteza. This is my first venture into using gouache paint. The paints are really nice quality and are a joy to use. They can by used in lighter washes and can also be applied quite thick and opaque. I squeezed some into the paint tin for convenience and am impressed with how well they last. I left the paints for a couple of months and they did dry up. They can still be used like that, but I was able to reactivate them with water spray, a couple of days, and patience. Good as new.My only gripe is the range of colours in the 24 set - I really miss there being true orange shades. There are yellows and reds. Personally I could have done without the bright neon pink (which I hardly use) in favour of at least one orange shade without me having to mix one up with the red/yellow shades each time.I am a fan of Arteza - great quality and affordable. Would recommend.UPDATE: a few of the tubes have puffed up and one or two have 'exploded'. Still not a deal breaker as this can happen with paint tubes I believe. I've just squeezed the contents into an airtight paint container and occasionally spritz with a little water to stop them drying out.
Good quality-price for begin with the gouache technique
I have always enjoyed using watercolors, but I was very excited to learn how to use gouache. I didn't want to spend too much because I wasn't sure if the technique would suit me, so I decided to try two popular beginner gouache sets: Arteza and HIMI.The set comes in a box that is easy to store and doesn't take up much space. It includes 24 colors with a plastic divider inside that keeps the gouache organized. Despite the price, the gouache has good pigmentation with a thick, creamy consistency, especially the opaque colors. You can see the opacity at the bottom of the tube, indicated by a square; if the square is filled, it is very opaque. Comparing this with another student grade gouache, in terms of pigmentation and colors, I prefer Arteza.Another important factor for me is the information Arteza provides: the lightfastness, transparency, and pigment number used to create each color. This helps me a lot when I want to follow tutorials to achieve the same results, and I am very satisfied with this. This set is very suitable for beginners, and you don't need to apply many layers, unlike other student grade gouache brands. Keep in mind that it is not professional grade, but it performs very well. Despite not being professional, the pigments resist fading over time, especially if you use them pure. However, if you dilute them (tint), many of them, especially the pinks and purples, will definitely fade over time.I've been following several tutorials to fill my first gouache sketchbook, and after 31 paintings (5" x 8.25"), I still have many colors left, except for the white, which is totally fine. In gouache, you will need a lot of white, so keep that in mind. The set comes with two whites: titanium white and zinc white. Titanium white is more opaque and helps with highlights and reducing color saturation much faster than zinc white. From one beginner to another, I am really satisfied with Arteza, more than other student brands. I'm looking forward to finishing this set and moving on to a semi-professional one.
Bellissimi
Bellissimi, pratici consiglio
Superbonito
