This has been accurate so far. Some of the test strips claim code Lo which is annoying when you have a giant blob of sample. So I'm not sure why it cones up with that. Anyway that means that strip is useless and wasted as it won't allow you to take it out and put back in. It will just come up with an error. So once you activate the test strip, don't remove it and put it back in or you lose it. So far I have used it 4 times a day for 2.5 days and 2 strips have also been waster due to Lo code. You have to wipe away the first blob of sample and test the second. You also shouldn't squeeze the blob out and only apply light preasure down the finger towards the lanced area to obtain a natural sample. As for value for money, the starter kit is reasonably good value for what you get, but overall it ends up not being good value for money due to how much the replacememt larnces and strips cost on a regular basis. There is a leaflet in the box to hand to your GP for prescriptions but when I went to my surgery to request, they told me I have to have been issued the moniter by NHS. But as my medical record show no such issue, I am not entitled to prescriptions for replacements. So yes, these are available on prescription but not all will be able to get a prescription for them. The finger lancet pen is good. It is not pain free but it isn't as painful as I expected it to be and not as painful as when the nurse with their one time use disposible ones. The reusable pen clearly makes a difference.I have thin skin so I only need it on 2+ - 3. It is easy to set up and use the pen.In short, good, reliable, but very expensive long term if you don't check you will have access to prescriotion before buying. Other test stripes won't work in it so you are left having buy the specific replacements for this item.
5.0 out of 5 stars THE easiest and best one I have owned. Can’t recommend it more highly.
I had owned two other brands before this one and after finding both really awkward to use I did some research. This one is used by NHS paramedics and hospitals and St. John’s Ambulance and I can tell why. There is a little card in it to give to your GP to say what brand it is so what brand lancets and strips you need if getting on the NHS (not all brands do free prescriptions).Firstly the pen. Very simple. Screw off lid, pop the same brand lancet it, click shut and choose between 1-5 (including half measures) for how firm you like the finger prick. 3 works for me. That always draws blood with no effort or pain. The machine is not huge or chunky so it’s great for taking anywhere. You set it up with dates and time and can put alarms on if you’d like to be reminded of when to do your readings (I don’t). It stores all your readings and you can set it to give you an average reading overall over 30, 60 or 90 days. My favourite feature compared to others is when you push the same brand test strip into the slot or turn the machine on ready to go. No on button then waiting. It has a fabulous little slide button on the back to just pop the used strip back out, no need to touch it. I pop it in my sharps box where my used lancets and insulin needles go.It’s so easy and I’d recommend this for first time users as it is so simple. The only slight negative is the soft zip case. As it has nothing to hold things in, stuff can tumble out. I used a case from another brand which has elastic loops for the pen, the machine, the strips container and a zip area for lancets. I think you can get empty type of cases on their own to buy if you prefer that type too.I was so impressed I told my diabetic nurse that this is a better one to give out than what they gave me to start which was so awkward and a nightmare to use. There is a good reason this is used by professionals. Definitely the one to go for with good peace of mind of accurate readings.

Well known make and seems accurate
5.0 out of 5 stars Provides accurate and concise blood sugar readings.
As of recent I am required to take record of my blood sugar readings. However, upon searching on Bolo there are tons, if not thousands of different blood sugar monitors. I decided to put my trust in this brand by Kinetic as it is the official blood glucose monitor used by St John's.Compared to others, it is super simple and easy to use. It comes with 25 lancets and 25 blood glucose strips, 2 batteries and a small bag containing pouches which hold all of the components.Simply unsheathe the protective tip tip of the lancet and place it within its safety mechanism, set the length and it is good to go. The glucose strips accurately suck the blood onto the strip itself, thus there is little room for margin of error leading to a wasted strip.Within the box, you will also find the instructions and also a small paper diary for blood glucose monitoring.Zero complaints about this product, display is a nice blue and easy to read as well. It takes 2 triple a batteries which come provided.
