(function(){ P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function'){ A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })() It is not too heavy to hold up when drilling smaller holes at awkward positions, quite light really.OK, it’s not the most powerful drill in the world, but if want to drill small holes you do not need a massive drill. So, for me, it was perfect for when I ddi not need my corded drill, and also far more convenient. No need for extension cables etc.It made very very light work of hammer drilling 4 5mm holes into an outside wall to mount 2 solar powered lights with PIR sensors so my balcony is lit up in the dark when I go onto it in the dark/winter. (Good quality masonry drill bits also helped a lot!) this is what bought it for. Then turn it from hammer drill down to power setting one, and it screwed the screws into the plugs without effort, without overdoing it.I could have paid someone to do the work, and not bought this, but that would have probably cost twice as much, and not left me with a nice little cordless drill.I will take it to work. It will probably spent the rest of its life undoing screws that hold bits of trim and the like onto cars.As a side note is is not brushless.Bought to do one job. And it did it effortlessly. The rest is a bonus.DOWNSIDE.I fully charged the battery on the day it arrived.I drilled 4 holes. To mount the lights mentioned, and then put it to one side for 4 days.I liked it so much I bought a second battery, so that I can just swop them at work, and carry on.Day 5 I went to use it and the battery was flat. After under 10 minutes of use on a fully charged battery.Put the second battery in, and it worked. So I plugged the flat battery into the charger, and ‘red flashing light’ on charger. IE battery defective. The battery that came with it, that I have had for under 10 days. Unplugged the charger and removed the battery, and tried again. Same result. The battery lasted under 10 days, and under 10 minutes of use.Put the spare battery into the charger, green light. Charger is working, drill is working.I know I only really bought it to do one job, and that it did that job. I did not expect the battery to only do that one job, and stop working almost instantly after it was done.I going to assume I received a defective battery in the case with the drill. So I put in a return request, and bought it again. Have paid for the second battery, and i did like the drill, lets hope i was just unlucky.Update: the second one arrived over a week ago, and has caused no problems. I got a full refund from Bolo for the first defective one.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great but not suitable for drilling into bricks
It's inexpensive and works quite well. Battery lasts a good while. Not too heavy. For minor DIY work it's perfect. For drilling into plasterboard and wood it's great. For drilling into bricks it took a lot of effort and time and the drill bit got stuck dead in the drill afterwards. Fortunately Bolo exchanged the drill or me. Otherwise it's a good drill. I'd suggest drilling into spaces between the bricks rather than into the bricks themselves.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good home drill but it struggled with masonry
This has been really handy as I’ve moved home with furniture and fittings however it did struggle a bit when in the masonry settings to make large holes (10mm) I had good quality drill bits but it wasn’t as easy as I’d hoped. Think it was in red brick from the dust I was making so would probably work better on breeze blocks. With the drill struggling the bits got stuck in the drill and I had to buy grip tools to get them out. I think this drill is probably suitable for most at home use but if you’re going to be doing lots of masonry drilling or mask art drilling with large drill bits into a very hard surface then probably need a more powerful tool. Otherwise happy, battery is nice and compact and charges quickly.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works well in masonry for a cordless device
I've wanted a cordless hammer drill for ages but didn't think I could justify it because I have a brilliant Bosch mains hammer drill I bought back in 1998. The problem is you can hear it from several roads away when on hammer action.I have bought this for small jobs only. I have tried it on brick with a draper 3mm masonry bit only. Without hammer action, it drills but very slowly. When I stopped drilling, turned on hammer action and tried again the bit sank into the brick quite quickly. The percussion noise level was much much lower than my Bosch. The drill is well made, feels good in the hand, and is quite light compared to my mains drill. I can't comment on battery life as I've only just bought it but I'm sure it will be OK. The battery can be used on other Black and Decker devices which may prove to be useful in future.I like getting a case with it and the fact that it is a well known make at a very good price.I read several reviews that bothered me before I purchased. However, I read the user manual carefully when it arrived and am following the instructions...You should manually tighten the chuck only. Don't operate the drill and hold the chuck.Only change gear or mode when the drill is not being operated.Don't put too much pressure on the drill when operating.Etc etc.Im hoping this will last a while and am pleased with my purchase.
5.0 out of 5 stars Bricks beware
I had an old cordless drill that packed in and bought this one. What a difference. It is a powerful drill and the little light is a nice touch.Well pleased.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality and just what I needed
Great - not too heavy and easy to recharge the battery. Not overly expensive for a lady DIYer and better than my previous version. Quality improvements and a good box to keep it all together.
Strong machine

MfgPeter Fesenmeier
Misleading Description – Not “Fully Equipped”
Does this drill really come with just the battery, the drill, and a single Phillips/slotted bit? Because that’s all I got. The listing says “fully equipped” and “ready to work,” but there are no drill bits, no extra accessories—nothing. Just a big box with mostly empty space. If this is how it’s supposed to come, that’s unacceptable. A drill without drill bits makes no sense. The description is completely misleading, and I wouldn’t have bought it if I knew. Very disappointing.
Chargeur non compatible avec les prises électriques françaises
Très bon article. Seul problème, le chargeur est avec une prise anglaise. Comment fait on pour recharger la batterie sur des prises françaises ? Il n'y a pas d'adaptateur dans la boite....
