5.0 out of 5 stars Lives up to the high sound quality in other online reviews
I wanted high resolution sound and a good bass response from a portable bluetooth speaker. This unit features the AptX codec which is a big improvement in audio quality (although not the lossless variant). You'll be amazed at the bass response from this size of speaker, the secret appears to be the extra "passive radiators" over and above the two active "woofers". Passive radiators are essentially speaker cones which don't have voice coils or magnets, instead they are moved by air pressure inside the cabinet generated by the active woofers. This effectively increases the surface area of the diaphragms producing the bass and the result is enhanced bass but with a great amount of detail because the active woofers are small enough to reproduce it. As every review I've seen says, the sound out of the box is not optimal but after a couple of minutes downloading the Soundcore app and tweaking the graphic EQ it sounds DIVINE. Don't be put off that this seems like an older model with only Bluetooth 5.0 - think of it as a mature model with all its bugs sorted out and still sounding so good that Anker (or anybody else) can't make anything better in this size and price bracket to touch it. Just buy it.
5.0 out of 5 stars An absolutely brilliant speaker
This is just a brilliant buy. I researched for ages and definitely chose the right one.Thoroughly recommend.
5.0 out of 5 stars 1st Bluetooth speaker.....
Seriously impressed with the sound produced by the Motion+ after using the Soundcore app to optimise settings on the equaliser. Great bass for small unit, solid quality feel, thoroughly recommended. Very tempted to buy second unit for stereo effect. Easily lasts a complete day on a charge.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good sound, very loud and detailed... Well made, poor coating
I bought this along with a UE boom3, UE megaboom 3 and UE wonderboom2The soundcore competes very well in terms of sound with significantly more sub bass than the boom3. However the soundcores sound profile is a lot colder than the ue's... Yes it has nice deep sub bass at below 60% volumn but the sound is very cold and this makes vocals sound quite high pitched....Both UE speakers have a darker more realistic timbre and the megaboom 3 produces more sub bass upto %60. The boom3 is left in the dust in therms of sub bass. The megaboom3 though distorts horrendously over 60% volumn and the bass becomes more woopy than boomy... It's really quite atrocious... The soundcore does not distort at all but the bass over does reach a max level and then stays there whilst the treble continues to increase making the speaker very shrill...In terms of high frequency. Both UE speakers are fine but have very little treble seperation... You can basically hear one symbol where as the soundcore is very defined and it is easy seperating all the high frequency and high mids. You can tell how many cymbals and vocals... The UE in comparison is a bit of a dry mess. The UE wonderboom2 however sounds more like the soundcore with vastly better seperation and high end detail than its more expensive bigger brothers.... The wonderboom2 sounds a lot like the soundcore only quieter...My main problems with the soundcore is its lack of warmth which the UE boom3 and megaboom3 have (wonderboom2 is colder) as well as the soundcores desire to become quite treble piercing... This is not to say the soundcore is a treble monster but unless you tweak the eq it can be a little painful at higher volumns.I also found the UE speakers are able to project the sound further providing a more 3d sound. The soundcore is more limited to an area close to the device. This is probably down to the nature of the soundcore being front firing whilst the ue's are side firing.I also truly hate the rubberised finish on the soundcore.... It becomes very dirty quickly (unlike the ue's which so not attract finger prints at all). I have the black soundcore and every single time I touch it it looks a year old. This would be fine if not for the trouble it takes to clean. Water simply will not do and I have to resort to alcohol wipes... The metal grill will also allow dust, sand etc and I assume the grill will have to be removed for cleaning at some time in the future....All in all, all these speakers at below 60-70% sound good (megaboom 3 has the bass issue mentioned) but the soundcore just gives you a lot more information, more definition, clarity and seperation... The UE boom3 and megaboom3 have a warmer easier to listen to sound.. the wonderboom2 is probably the best all rounder despite being quieter (not by a great deal)I would recommend the soundcore to anyone for use in a bedroom on a shelf or in an office where volumn isn't too important and you never have to touch it... The booms I recommend for carrying around, especially the boom3 which is light, feels indestructible and will go to full volumn without distortion... I would say forget the megaboom3 as its pretty poor unless at low volumn which to me makes it pointless....The wonderboom2 would work brilliantly in the office or outdoors...Update:I tried 2 of these as a stereo pair and they sound truly amazing!!!! They are tws so one speaker sends the signal to the other. This requires no apps unlike all other Bluetooth speakers and is more like true wireless earphones. The sound is beautiful and enchanting and I will definitely be keeping 2 of these.I tested battery life by using one as a soundbar plugged into my TV. I set the eq to high bass and after 9 hours of the TV being on at quite high volumn my battery indicator shows a drop of quarter.I have not yet managed to use these long enough to run them out. Unlike to Sony xb32 which I ran out in 5 hours and which lost 50% battery without even being on... (I have 2 of the Sony's and both are the same)The soundcore are more the UE boom3 in terms of battery. They just seem to keep going. In terms of soundcore sound. I have found myself setting a personal eq setting with bass set to plus 5db, miss pretty much at +1 and upper treble at 0 with treble at plus 4... V shaped but with the 1-5kh being lowest as I feel there is a boost there.150hz about +4db - 250hz at +3db to retain some warmth without introducing boomI don't find any of the presets particularly pleasing but if I had to pick one it would be heavy as the others sound somewhat thin.... I am not a bass head by any stretch but like a natural sound....I also found that one speaker plugged into my 3.5mm cable from the TV will still allow signal to be sent to my second soundcore motion plus creating a stereo pair from a 3.5mm into one of the speakers.... Brilliant
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing
I like my hi-fi system of the old days as these modern Bluetooth speakers are no match when it comes to sound, bass and treble, but I have to say this speaker is something very special. It is very nicely made and feels solid in hand. First out of the box with bass turned on, I thought this isn't right as it sounded too flat and then tried the available equalisers via the app but this didn't make too much difference either. As I always do, I started to play with the custom setting equaliser on the app and after 10 to 15 minutes I was amazed how much difference it made and it was very impressive, better then my 2 SONY speakers which are expensive and SONY isn't what it used to be.The app is very easy to use once it's been paired via Bluetooth, the only downside I have found is if the speaker isn't connected to the device like mobile phone constantly then it turns off and you have to turn it back on again to use it, would like to see a setting on the app via which you can always keep it turned on rather then the 30, 60 minutes time out.I have found the following equaliser setting best for extra bass and extra treble, everyone has their own choice so you can tinker as you wish with the equalisers.
Most versatile/useful speaker I have ever owned, with superior sound quality to boot!
Like the heading says, I use this speaker for EVERYTHINGGGG!! lol! For example, when I'm home I use it as a surround sound speaker for my tv/movies. If I need more bass, I hook up my minirig subwoofer, via hard wire, and voila! Instant cinematic sound! I also use it for my DJ set up with records for scratching and mixing/listening, and thanks to it's ZERO LAG it works perfectly!! Then when I go out on my ebike for work, I put it in my little camera shoulder bag, where it fits PERFECTLY facing up, and I have INCREDIBLE sound for my entire ride, with barely 20 percent of the battery being drained due to it's also amazingly sized battery!! No it isn't quite as convenient as a strap or clip speaker like I have owned many in the past, but the sound quality and loudness really outweighs any of that! I also learned just yesterday that it actually works phenomenally as a handsfree speaker phone if i need to talk on my phone while riding without getting dangerous, so that was just another amazing little surprise that this tiny speaker is capable of. I must point out however, that it doesn't sound that great out of the box. Very important to know!! It needs to be tuned, but thanks to the soundcore app, it is actually very easy to do!! I included my personal tune that I created, which is a hybrid of a couple different youtubers I found on Youtube, and then I really fine tuned it with my records to make sure that everything would sound good (no, amazing) coming out of it. I posted pics of my tunes. This is with the latest firmware, and I tend to move the last two bass levels up and down depending on if I'm inside or outside. It also sounds quite different depending on your placement in a room, etc. due to it's passive subwoofers on the front and back. Speaking of which, they don't make speakers like this anymore!! It has a total of SIX speakers!!! TWO tweeters!! Yes I said tweeters!! Which really give it that extra special sparkle. They'r also stereo!! Who does this anymore??? Two drivers and TWO passive subwoofers!! The trick I learned with the passive subs, is that you really need to be aware of where you place the speaker to really take advantage of the passive subs. Meaning, put them near a wall, or even when I have the speaker in my bag, it helps to bring out the bass. Which if done right, is actually super impressive!! If I go up on the roof to smoke, I put it in a chair near one of the walls and WOW!! Super bass heavy!! It honestly doesn't take much. But if you just have it on a table by itself, not near anything at all, then the bass can only do so well. All due to the two passive subs and their placement. The great thing about that though, is that you can really bring out so much more of this speakers potential, just by experimenting! Really fun actually to hear it in different circumstances. I obviously can't say enough about this speaker, and in my opinion from experience with most of the best portable bluetooth speakers on the market (including the UE ROLL 2's the MINIRIG 2.1 and several JBL's and other random speakers) this is hands down, bar none the best portable bluetooth speaker on the market!! Especially for it's swiss army like versatility, as well as incredibly top notch (after you tune it) sound quality! I can't wait to get a second one to pair them in stereo!! I can only imagine how insane that will end up being
Impresionante
Worth the money!
I am an older musician that has owned quite a few high quality pieced-together stereo systems since the late 60's, but the though of getting good sound and at the same time, getting rid of all the wires was all I needed to give this a try.I am quite pleased with the Anker Soundcore Motion+. Can you knock a wall down with the bass? No, but you sure can hear the nuances of jazz and more thoughtfully produced recordings like Steely Dan, and honestly, the bass is not bad at all. The app is very much needed to bring the frequencies to life, so don't forget to download that!I had to buy one to see how good it was before I bought a 2nd one to pair for wide stereo. In a short while, I will definitely be buying another one. Awesome product, well designed and manufactured, (I can't believe how heavy and solid this is). I'm glad I bought it.
Great quality bluetooth speakers for a low price. Hi Res Aptx codec supported. Barely decent Bass.
I own several Bluetooth speakers, JBL charge 3, JBL Xtreme2, jbl flip4, Sony SRS-XB32, Sony SRS-XP700 and Ultimate Ears Hyperboom.Do not expect miracles here, you get what you pay for. While Motion+ has better audio quality than my flip4 and and jbl charge 3, its bass levels are its Achilles heel and are inferior than Charge3 and SRS-XB32 for example. I was expecting more to be honest. This is my 2nd disappointment I got from Soundcore products after liberty 3 pro TWS earbuds that didn't live up to expectations.Sony SRS-XP700 and UE Hyberboom are in a different league, JBL Xtreme2 is also much better than Motion+.Now let's talk about the good of Motion+, Sound stage is good, treble is good, mids are pretty good, bass is a lackluster. Motion+ is loud enough for interiors.Yes, I did use Soundcore App and EQ to tweak my music, my audio sources are from Tidal Hifi Plus(master) playing from my Samsung Galaxy S21+ 5G using Aptx bluetooth audio codecI also was transmitting bluetooth audio(Aptx) from my Mac using 24bit 192khz FLAC audio tracks from HDtracks using FIIO BTR30 Pro which currently is the best bluetooth audio transmitter in the market.I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it or get the much better Sony SRS-XB43 which has same size as motion+ and way better looks. To be fair, SRS-XB42 is also more expensive.@Soundcore, you need to use larger and better quality drivers to achieve a better bass experience. I'd gladly pay more(up to $200) for it as long as it delivers same audio quality as motion+ with an improved and deeper bass.Update (02/14/22): After resetting my Motion+ after putting on a full charge, started working as intended. Changing my rating from 4 starts to 5 stars. Decided to get a 2nd Motion+ to compensate the overall lack of bass. I'm satisfied now. Pairing with 2nd Motion+ was a breeze. Having 4 passive radiators and 4 tweeters to listen to my Tidal Hifi plus master tracks is not peanuts. Impressive and immersive sound with detail clarity and a very good bass, not perfect but much better than having a single Motion+. I'd still prefer Motion boom bass or JBL Xtreme2 bass.Still would recommend getting a device like BTA30 Pro for the ultimate bluetooth Aptx audio quality experience. Will wait until Anker soundcore releases an updated "Motion boom Pro" with Aptx and preferably LDAC codec, 2 dedicated tweeters like Motion+, a USB port for charging and last but not least, dedicated physical buttons with preset EQ settings, same ones available from Soundcore app for those who wants to use Soundcore BT speakers with a PC, Mac or Linux machine.Showing in my picture my 2 Motion+ paired together working from BTA30 Pro connected my Mac. Also, my older JBL Charge 3 pic as a reference for size comparison.highly recommended bluetooth speaker if you're looking for an excellent audio quality in a budget.
