What is a PSA test?
Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) is a protein made by the prostate gland, which is naturally secreted into the bloodstream. A raised PSA level can be due to conditions such as enlargement of the prostate gland, prostatitis or urinary infection. It can also be an early indication of prostate cancer. The PSA antigen test is the most valuable tool available for the early diagnosis of prostate cancer. However, many men with a raised PSA (≥ 4.0ng/ml) may not have prostate cancer.
Why is this test important to me?
This test detects abnormal levels of Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) in the blood and is designed to detect levels of PSA above the expected normal range, producing a visual result in minutes. Prostate cancer is less common in men below the age of 50 and the average age of diagnosis is over 70. This test can provide indication of a pre-clinical condition before any symptoms develop.

Great product and fairly easy to use. Had to swing my arm a bit to get enough blood but soon have enough to carry out the test. Follow the instructions carefully and you won’t go wrong. Happy as showing negative 👍

Followed the instructions carefully with no problems. Simple to use finger prick device and little pipette for the blood sample.

The instructions take a few minutes to read but are good. They include a link to a video which demonstrates it well. Collecting the blood in the pipette was a bit fiddly and took some patience, but eventually I got enough in there. The instructions say it takes 10 minutes to get the result, but as with Covid-19 test kits, you quickly get an indication of what the result is going to say (which happily for me was negative).

Both of the lancets did not work and had to use a needle instead. Don't waste your money on this product.

Simple enough to use. Results are quick. Most GP's automatically get in touch when the physical examination is due. Not such a bad idea using a test kit at home, whilst waiting for your GP to get in touch.

It's not very sensitive and even a tiny increase in PSA levels can be medically important. Although this test gave me a false sense of security, a proper blood test revealed slightly elevated PSA levels and, long story short, I had prostate cancer. Don't rely on tests like this. Get checked by your GP. I could have lost my life had he not referred me.

This test is one of the easiest to use a bit like rapid covid tests but read the instructions correctly.The hardest part is collecting the blood the pipette must be pressed against the skin and the blood will fill the tubeSo I used the end of the finger not the side as shownWhere my blood flows better this was my experience I hope it helpsPs my test was normal levels I can't comment on accuracy not a doctor I just trust the test
