5.0 out of 5 stars Best all around grinder
The Cuisinart line of kitchen products have never let me gown. The Mini-Mate grinder I've owned for at least 20 years now and still is going strong. But since I bought it in the US and now live in the UK, I decided to buy a grinder here eliminating the voltage converter I had to use. Well this Spice & Nut Grinder has so far has proven to be as good as the original Mini-Mate. I put it through some torture in the week I've had it. I grow my herbs all summer to harvest and put away for winter. For several days I have been grinding basil, oregano, tarragon, coriander, cilantro, marjoram, etc. Rosemary ground down slightly so it is more friendly in food instead of twigs. Gave it a go around with whole cloves. Cardamom had its turn. While none of this spice grinders have a large capacity - which is good as you are able to control the degree to which you want things ground down [you don't want to powder everything] - it is fast so capacity is not a problem. Unlike the Mini-Mate where the top can't be cleaned efficiently because it is the motor, this Spice & Nut Grinder has the motor in the base, so everything that comes in contact with the food can be efficiently cleaned. It is also easy to operate by just pushing the lid down - which requires very little pressure. The unit will not operate if everything is not correctly locked in. For those that complain about a motor burnout, this is a small unit designed to grind as needed. It is not commercial grade, and not meant to be run consistently non-stop. Used mine for about an hour with no problem. Also, taking the lid off as soon you finishing grinding will create a suction as the items are turned inside as they are grinding. Lifting that lid before they settle [about a second] will have some things flying out. This is a kitchen must. Having read other reviews - I will update mine as time goes on to see if the complains are an inherent problem with this model.

1.0 out of 5 stars Broke after a few weeks: another instance
I’ve noticed a few of the reviews posted from early 2024 with lower ratings cite breakage after a few weeks as the reason for their low score. I’m another: the thin plastic keeping the grinding mechanism aligned with the metal outer housing snapped one of its pins, and the grinder can no longer grind (unless I hold it all in place with my free hand - which defeats the purpose).Additionally, I noticed two other glaring design issues when it was working: 1: the base of the charging station collects enough build up to misalign the unit when charging, preventing it from connecting properly with the charging pins. 2: the grinder is SLOW. Up to 15 seconds for a US teaspoon of pepper isn’t a workable result for a busy home cook.It might last longer if reserved solely for aesthetic tabletop use? Spend cash elsewhere if you want to use this for daily cooking.
4.0 out of 5 stars Helps mum eat more healthy hard-to-chew foods
Bought this principally to help prepare healthy meals for mum who has no lower teeth so can't chew hard foods. It has become indispensible for mum's meals. And I can sneak extra virgin olive oil into her meals this way.+ grinds nuts easily (cashews for Magnesium, walnuts for healthy omegas)+ allows mixing in a little olive oil, honey, yogurt+ lid allows storing directly in bowlBut you must get to know the foods and the grinder - e.g. you must pulse grind nuts to break them apart before a continuous grind to make a finely ground meal/flour, and some foods eg apples (no matter how fine I chop before grinding) will get thrown off the blades and not fully fall back down, leaving the grinder blades spinning free unless you either patiently push the food back down with a spoon. Here a little fluid helps e.g. a little yogurt/olive oil.If you leave lumps in before a continuous grind the blades can throw the lump up taking fluid with it and covering the top of the lid - as there is no gasket ring, you can end up with trickles coming down the sides of the cover, messy and wasteful. Maybe Cuisinart could add a gasket somehow without it interfering with the lid's ability to act as the activation switch. We had a problem with our bowl - the blades became loose on the drive axis so the motor would not spin them unless the bowl was empty. (They were replaced under guarantee without too much fuss - appreciated.)
5.0 out of 5 stars Streets ahead of my last spice grinder
Bought this spice grinder after my last one died (killed by grinding cinnamon sticks). This Cuisinart unit grinds hard cinnamon effortlessly. Also good for nuts, almond, walnuts, hazelnuts etc. You have to judge the grinding time correctly with certain nuts, or it go's from powder to butter. Easy enough to adjust quantity ground, and time, to stop this happening, unless you specifically want nut butter. 2 pots are supplied with storage lids. Pots clean very easily as they are stainless steel. One speed only, activated by hand depression of plastic cover over the pot. Do not know how long this unit will last yet, has been good so far. Better than the last unit I had. Would recommend.
5.0 out of 5 stars Quality blender great motor
Good little spice mill well built and durable push lid down to start machine grind spices well easy to clean easy to use definitely not like the cheaper branded ones wich grind spices poorly would buy again.
bad product
I am rather unhappy with this purchase, when i got it in June I tried it out and it worked well so I set it in its home base to fully recharge. As I still had some salt and pepper in my old (IKEA) devises I used those for the first 2 -3 weeks after which I started using the new machine and now after using it just a few weeks one side already does not grind any more. At first i thought is was the salt I was using so I changed that but it still does not work !I am not sure if there is still any warranty on this product , kindly let me know. Thanks, Ido Bakker

Mala experiencia al venir con una clavija incorrecta para su uso en España.
Mi experiencia específica con el producto por el momento es mala, ya que la clavija que trae es de tipo UK y no se puede utilizar en los enchufes españoles.
Great !!!
Bought this a second time as we drop and broke the last one!
