5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning Price Point
Photography can inspire with one simple click and yet there is this preconceived notion that you have to pay thousands of pounds to take a good photograph. Great photographs do not come from that preconceived notion but rather in the way you use your individual creativity to compose that image. That said, it brings me to the JINTU 420-800mm Telephoto lens. Price wise you simply cannot go wrong with this lens. It is very well made and extremely easy to use. You absolutely need to use this with a tripod but the results are really good. Definitely well worth the price.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good lens for the money
Like others say it's a good lens for what it costs , 100% need to use a tripod, it's not the best looking lens but gives good results if you know how to use your camera correctly
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent at the price point
A manual lens that performs surprisingly well for the price. You get exactly what it says on the tin, so do be aware that this lens is entirely manual, however it delivers excellent quality considering the low price. Lack of image stabilisation and the size of the lens makes a tripod almost a requirement, even with in-body stabilisation of the G9. A remote shutter release also helps greatly.I am using this lens with a Panasonic G9, and the lens performed well. The seller was incredibly helpful, and kind enough to provide a M43 adapter instead of the included Canon/Nikon adapters.Picture quality has been good, with little distortion evident even at 800mm. Very clear at 420mm, producing comparable results to a Panasonic 100mm - 300mm telephoto. Chromatic aberration was mildly pronounced at 800mm, but nothing that couldn't be fixed in Lightroom.
5.0 out of 5 stars Think this is brilliant, but don't want to jinx it
Well, a Telephoto lens for under £100!? When I saw this I discounted it thinking it was a joke, the current Canon version which has less functionality is over £1000. I got it for my daughter who is studying Photography at College, didn't;t think it was going to be much but at the moment I am pleasantly suprised. Its a bit fiddly, no auto focus and focusing on things is a bit cumbersome, but once you have the hang of it then it works really well. Better than its £1000 counterpart, I'm not sure and will probably never knwo as I'll never have £1000 extra to spare, but for the price I think it's really good. And at the end of the day if it doesn't do what its supposed to do the send it back! We are keeping this for the moment, like the price and think it does well.
3.0 out of 5 stars Lens
Sent back, looks great, but not as expected
1.0 out of 5 stars Not even mediocre
Firstly it’s not pretty,Fitted it on my Nikon and turned camera on ,Message on camera,(no lens)Put camera in manual mode and took some shots but pictures were very very dark,It’s just too much faffing about,I like ease of use and this is not,
5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good for the money
I mounted the lens to the Jintu 2x teleconverter and set it to the full 800mm focal length and pointed it at Jupiter. My setup uses a basic tripod and a remote release, so it's a case of lining up the shot and getting the focus just right and then balancing out the ISO and exposure. The aperture is low but the object (Jupiter) is bright, but with 800mm focal length, x2 teleconverter and and APS-C crop sensor DSLR, celestial motion becomes very apparent. Fast shutter speed is necessary with ISO high enough to gather enough light but low enough to avoid excessively noisy images.I think I reached the limit for how far I can push it. The resolution is low at this magnification and when combined with atmospheric distortion and how little light there is reaching the sensor, to be able to see some of Jupiter's characteristic stripes is quite impressive.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good value if a little fiddly
For 85 quid this is great value. It is fiddly. It is a manual lens. You need to have it on a tripod and know how to set your camera manually you dont set Fstop it is what it is at whatever focal length you set shutter and ISO. The problem is keeping it still. They recommend tripod. It is impossible to get any sort of result without one. They also recommend remote shutter release. I have emailed Jintu as the one I have doesn't seem to work with this lens due to it being manual. I suspect that I may need to change something in the menu of the 1100d I am using it with. I have used it at 700mm on a tripod and used the 2 sec timer to reduce shake and the results are pretty good, well worth 85 quid... just need to sort the remote shutter issue
Ottimo
