5.0 out of 5 stars Compact, Efficient, and Ideal for Small Spaces

    C.K. · 4 September 2024

The Philips 800 Series Air Purifier is a small but mighty solution for improving air quality in your home. After using it for a few weeks, I’m impressed with how effective and easy to use it is, especially for smaller rooms like bedrooms or offices.Key Features I Loved: Compact and Space-Saving Design: One of the first things I noticed is the sleek, compact design. It doesn’t take up much space and easily fits in any corner of the room without being an eyesore. Perfect for apartments or smaller spaces where you don’t want a bulky device. Highly Effective Filtration: Despite its small size, the 800 Series does a fantastic job of purifying the air. It has a three-layer filtration system, including a pre-filter, an activated carbon filter, and a HEPA filter, which traps 99.5% of airborne particles, including dust, pollen, pet dander, and even some bacteria. You can really feel the difference in air quality, especially if you suffer from allergies. Quiet Operation: This air purifier runs so quietly, especially in sleep mode. I can run it all night without any disruptions, which is a big plus for light sleepers like me. Even on higher settings, it remains reasonably quiet. Air Quality Sensor: One of my favorite features is the air quality indicator. It uses a color-coded ring to show the current air quality in real-time. Blue means the air is clean, and red means there are pollutants present. This feature helps me keep track of the air quality at a glance. Energy Efficient: The 800 Series is energy-efficient and doesn’t significantly increase electricity usage. It’s a great option for anyone who wants to run it continuously without worrying about the electric bill. Easy to Use and Maintain: The controls are straightforward, with just a few buttons for power, fan speed, and mode. Replacing the filters is also simple, and it doesn’t require frequent changes, making maintenance low-effort.What Could Be Improved: Coverage Area: The air purifier is designed for small spaces up to about 160 square feet (15 square meters), which is perfect for bedrooms, nurseries, or small offices. However, it may not be powerful enough for larger living rooms or open-concept spaces. You’d need a bigger model for larger areas. No App Control: While it functions well, it lacks smart features like app control or Wi-Fi connectivity that are found in some competing models. A remote control or app would add convenience, but it’s not a dealbreaker for me.Final Thoughts:The Philips 800 Series Air Purifier is an excellent choice if you’re looking for an affordable, efficient, and compact air purifier for smaller rooms. It’s easy to use, incredibly quiet, and offers strong air purification performance. If you suffer from allergies or just want cleaner air in your living space, this little device gets the job done and is definitely worth considering!

5.0 out of 5 stars Super happy. Simple. Low wattage. Cleans the air and no mold

    s. · 30 November 2024

I'm currently in a high humidity environment. Humidity in the home is well above the recommended 50% to 60% and doing nothing can mean itchy eyes , itchy scalp, mold and allergies. I've spent hours researching air purifiers, dehumidifiers and humidity, and re. the air purifier I went for the Philips AC0820/30. I want to thank Bolo too. I bought 3 and 2 of them were from Bolo Warehouse and the actual condition of the items (not boxes) was totally new.First, this "older version" AC0820/30 does the job with no problems in areas up to 49m2. The newer version (the one I don't have) is recommended for 65 m² and comes with a filter with an Activated Carbon layer (for smells).BUT if your area is no more than 49m2 not that both come with the HEPA NanoProtect layer and the replacement filters are the same for both versions, so you can buy a filter with the Activated Carbon layer if you want this for the older version too. This AC0820/30 has no Bluetooth connectivity and only 3 settings but quite honestly it is much cheaper, purifies the air, and you don't need to control it with your phone. Basically when it arrives, you take the filter out the bottom and take it out of its packaging (don't just turn it on) and then put it back in, turn it on and leave it.When you switch it on it starts in automatic mode and switches between Good (blue), Fair, Poor and Very Poor fan speeds drawing in air for air quality. It purifies 20m2 in 16 mins and 49m2 in 38 mins. Once the air is clean, the purifier runs for me 99% of the time in blue at a quiet hum continuing to keep the air clean at only 2.5 W (yes 2.5!) so no issue running it all day.Pressing the button again puts the fan at top speed (turbo mode) which runs at 18.5 W. Pressing it again turns the fan into sleep mode which forces the purifier to run at the lowest fan speed of 2.5 W regardless of air quality. The pre-filter layer traps dust mites and pet hair and the filter's main HEPA NanoProtect layer sucks in the fine particles like pollen, air pollution (pm2.5), bacteria, viruses, pet dander and - yes - mold spores. The optional Activated Carbon extra layer in future replacement filters is only for absorbing smells and odors, such as from food, cigarettes, pets, indoor waste and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).The purifier has a built in clock/timer that works out when the filter needs changing based on the fan speed and length of time running. The warning light will appear on the top display when the filter needs changing. Ignoring the light over time will apparently lock the device (which makes no sense to me since it just means the air is not cleaning and the light tells you that). However, at any time you can long press the button on the top for 3 seconds and the warning filter light will flicker a few times to tell you the internal counter has been reset. This is what you do when you replace the filter, but you can do it any time (before the warning light appears) too so you have full control of filter replacement. You can take it out, clean it, or replace it before the warning (for one with an Active Carbon layer for example) or after the warning, reset it and use the same filter a little longer. That's all it does and all you need it to do - so I'm well happy. Replacement filters are around £30/€30 for 2 with Active Carbon and HEPA filtration and cheaper without the Active Carbon and it is recommended they should be replaced at minimum every 6 months. So does it work? Well, with humidity here in the range of 70% to 85% (mold spore heaven) no mold is forming! (dehumidifier on the way). That means that while a dehumidifier stops mold from growing in the first place, this air purifier is perfectly capable of removing the mold spores floating around.I don't have pets or allergies or cigarette smoke in the house so I can't comment on the other reasons and ways people might evaluate its effectiveness (so I'd read other reviews for that) but if it removes 99.5% of particles as small as 0.003 microns (µm) which is smaller than any known virus on planet Earth, and - much more importantly - I don't have to worry about mold; I'd recommend cause very happy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Discontinued product?

    T.B.R. · 8 September 2024

I picked this up in the sales for what I believed to be a bargain price. I have since read that this is because the item is now discontinued. While that might not seem to matter, my worry is; Will they still make genuine replacement filters for them?Currently, Philips sell genuine hepa replacement filters for around £40. Each filter lasts up to a year, depending on usage3rd party filters don't seem to be up to the jobThe machine itself is brilliant. Works just as advertised. It reduces smells (great for cooking smells and farting animals, including husbands) and blows out clean, fresh air after going through the hepa filterThe noise can be reduced through the sleep mode option, but I kinda like the noise it makes... it's almost like a white noise machineAppearance wise, it looks like a dalek (great if your a Dr.Who fan)TLDR;This really is a brilliant machine. Does exactly what it says it will. Great value in the sales. I just worry wether the filters will be available to purchase when needed in 12 months

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to set up

    C. · 5 January 2025

The Philips air purifier was super easy to set up, and the app makes it really convenient to use. I love that I can schedule when it turns on and off, so I don’t have to think about it. It’s always measuring the air quality in my room, and I can check those updates anytime on the app, which is really handy. In sleep mode, it’s so quiet that I barely notice it’s running, which is great at night. Overall, it’s a solid purifier that’s simple to use and works really well.

    Good so far

    S. · 5 July 2022

Nicely designed quiet air purifier. There are 3 modes - Sleep, Auto and Turbo. Sleep mode is very quiet. On Auto mode, it detects the level of particles in the air and adjust the power accordingly. It is quiet on the Good and Fair levels but louder on the Poor and Very Poor levels and might disturb your sleep. There is a really nice coloured ring which shows blue, purple, pink and red according to air quality. When I was sweeping my room, it interestingly went up to red and showing that the level of dust had increased.Really feel like this works!Do note however that my room is only about 100 sqft.

small quiet perfect for small Singapore rooms !

    K. · 24 July 2022

very quiet even on auto. big fan hub design is so smart to keep noise low! slight fan buzz if you move very close. THIS is what im looking for! other brands audible even at lowest speed. size is perfect for tiny Singapore rooms. uses true HEPA filter, easy replacement stocks. A pity no timer or memory function. but it cleans air im certain, no sinus in morning or heavy air-con-air. Love it's tiny size and energy efficient for expensive home living in Singapore! Thanks Philips! Best purchase this year! Just buy it!

    Simple & quiet

    E.G. · 4 November 2022

Not sure why there are a few reviews complaining about the noise level of this filter but for me, as long as you use auto or sleep mode it's quiet enough. For turbo mode it's understandable the noise level would be louder. Have been using only for a couple of weeks and no issues or complaints so far.
