5.0 out of 5 stars The Practical Utensil
This pan is a reliable piece of equipment, a solid block of cast iron that suggests durability beyond my own existence. I found it necessary to remove the pre-seasoning, a small yet laborious task that seemed indicative of the modern age's insistence on control. Now, with the surface seasoned to my liking, it performs admirably, allowing me to prepare omelettes and fried eggs with ease. In a world often distracted by the ephemeral, this pan stands as a quiet reminder of simplicity and utility, a tool designed for the honest work of daily nourishment.
5.0 out of 5 stars Never seen such wonderful caramelised onions. French Onion Soup season is approaching...
I was testing this new pan out (after a few hours seasoning the inside of the pan on the stove)I tried sausages and onions. The beautiful caramelising of the onions without sticking is something to behold. For cooking with wine, tomatoes, sherry etc. may I suggest googling "cooking acidic ingredients in cast iron cookware" and "myths of cast iron cookware" for some great advice.Afterwards, Just wash with warm water, dry completely by heating on the stove, then apply a thin layer of oil if you've cooked with acidic ingredients.Next - bibimbap in cast iron. The cast iron pan will be fantastic at doing the crispy rice!
4.0 out of 5 stars Really good if you stick to the rules.
Non-stick pans are okay, but only when used occasionally. This pan does the heavy lifting and produces consistent results. Speaking of heavy, it is, you will need to bear this in-mind, especially when it's hot.Cleaning is fine, soapy water with a brush gets 95% of the gunk off, the final 5% can be shifted quite easily.Initially I was concerned that I'd got the smaller pan, but it's never been a problem, mainly because the heat distribution is excellent. A thin pan will lose much of it's heat energy when you add a cold item, this isn't the case with this pan.Beware that it is heavy, it doesn't have a non-conducting handle, so make sure you use an oven glove to move it off the hob. Otherwise, it's a good purchase.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great pan
Exactly what I needed, perfect
5.0 out of 5 stars Surprised
A bit dubious when I hear pre seasoned but this has restored my faith. Great pan and have used several times. Easy to clean and just a little oil after and is as good as new.
1.0 out of 5 stars Received a used pan
item received was used already , with coating worn off and with scratches.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great product
Very sturdy. Comes pre-seasoned. Easy to season yourself afterwards. Cleans nicely with just soft sponge and warm water. Steaks never cooked as well before we had this pan. Absolutely fantastic steaks. Not uncomfortably heavy
3.0 out of 5 stars not happy with this quality
Build quality is not good. The surface is not consistent, feels like it got patches here and there. To me it is a product cannot pass quality control so sell it cheap online. Not happy with it, I just can't be bothered to return it.
