It is shipped in a skinny box. The tree is squished into a vertical state. So after taking off bubble wrap, etc, the fun starts. You carefully determine the major branches and separate them, which is pretty easy by color in my case. Then you start working all of the sub-branches of each color. That is time consuming, since you need to be careful. The stones are held on by thin copper wire that goes through a hole in it. I found one that looked like it might come loose, so I reinserted the wire in one side. This continues on and on, until all the stones are on their own, filling out the tree. I had zero issues with stability that some others mention. I could see an issue if you didn't evenly spread out the major branches, so the overall tree is filled out on every side. Definitely think the result is beautiful, which was all I wanted.
