5.0 out of 5 stars Should've bought this earlier
I've gone through a few bits from kits that I picked up at Screwfix or Argos. Sure, they're cheaper, but the difference in quality is very noticeable. Dreaded T5 screws have been my nemesis for a while, and I've stripped and drilled out my fair share. When I thought I'd stripped another one, and saw the bit was mangled once more, I figured buying a new kit every time wasn't economical in the long run, and bought a reputable kit.Don't waste your time with the cheaper stuff. They're not worth it. But this, it's absolutely worth the price. The quality and finish are great, and additionally, you're supporting a company that has time and again proven it cares about right to repair.Magnetised bits would make this the best tool I have, but there's ways around it
5.0 out of 5 stars Strong bits
Expensive but strong bits and nice lit magnetic to hold screws
5.0 out of 5 stars Quality - you get what you pay for
Should last a long time, no issues so far, wide range of bits - had to look a few of them up :) the big Y shaped bit is for hooks, love it - feels really nice in your hands - both handles - love the little click as you put the bits in :) - raging I never bought something from these guys sooner - been through tonnes of cheap sets over the years - yes the labels on the foam are hard to see, but you can see the bit itself so meh! - also you can have a look at their site and get a nice easy to read break-down (I had not even noticed that they were all labelled at first, you cant tell from a distance) - I did question the design of the magnetic box, but, there is nothing to break (as in hinges etc) and its a handy tray for working with or else you can just put it under the main bit - the magnets are quite strong - I have dropped it to the floor and the lid came off but none of the bits came out of their holes
5.0 out of 5 stars Very good
Amazing set
5.0 out of 5 stars Great kit always finding new uses for it
Great kit well worth the money and i fix it are a great company to do with warranty wise. Having had one part of the kit break I emailed them with supporting proof of the breakage and purchase and within a week I had the new part in my hands! This kits got a great range of driver bits and the larger driver makes it far more verified for use on bigger stuff. It’s got most normal parts you would expect to find in any of these kits with the addition of some handy bits- the magnet bit is handy when screws get dropped down little gaps- the security torn bits are quite useful as slot of devices see to be using them- the star bits (you’ll have to forgive my stupidity I don’t know their technical name) well they are not quite star bits more cross like bits, these I’ve found are brilliant for really stubborn or rounded screws as they seem to grip that bit better than a normal star head and even on a 70% rounded head can still Marge to get grip to budge itI would highly recommend as I don’t know how I survived without this
5.0 out of 5 stars About as good a screwdriver set as you will ever get
I used this set to repair an iPhone 8 as I was missing a the required tools in my existing set of screwdrivers. This set seems to have about every type of bit required for anything you have that has some sort of security type of screws. Obviously we are talking about small screws here not large screws. All tool bits and the drivers are extremely well made. The case is a bonus in 1. it keeps all bits in one place and 2. can be used as a tray to keep the screws in that you remove. All in all a fantastic set, yes seems pricey and we would all like it cheaper, but as I say buy cheap. buy twice, so that will not be and is not with this set.
4.0 out of 5 stars Exception drivers, great bits
Other people are reporting these bits as magnetic and they are not. At least, the set I have received are not They could not even lift a tiny screw no more than 2 or 3 mm in size. Someone has kindly pointed out that they are designed this way because some electronic components can be danaged by magnetism.Read the description carefully it says "aluminum screwdriver handles with magnetic bit sockets". It's just bad english. They should have said "aluminum screwdriver handles with magnetic bit-sockets". The hyphen makes all the difference. The driver sockets are magnetic (to grab the bit), the bits are not.But the drivers are really exceptional. They are very smooth and the best quality I have ever seen. In this set there is every bit you are ever likely to need. The bits are still very fine quality, very hard and strong. I'm disappointed that they aren't specifically magnetic but they are still great bits.In case you where wondering, trying to hold the driver vertically with a screw on the end does NOT work. The screw will likely just fall off; and tiny screws can be difficult to find!In terms of its quality, this is still the best kit I have ever owned.
5.0 out of 5 stars I Love This Kit
The media could not be loaded. Over the years I have accumlated a range of screwdrivers to help me repair PCs, open up laptops and fix things around the house.I recently did a thermal repaste on the CPU and GPU on my laptop and did not have any screwdriver that opened up the heatsink.Step forward the Manta kit from iFixit. This set had all the screw drives I needed to safely open my laptop up and apply the repaste. The kit is a combination of the iFixit Mako and Mahi kits and contains 112 bits. These screw drives will help you in just about every situation. The kit is contained in a nice plastic box and the casing doubles as a screw tray. A nice touch. The two drivers are 4mm and 1/4 inch. The bits associated with the larger 1/4 inch drive are only slightly magnetic, which is a little disappointing giving that all the bits for the smaller 4mm driver are magnetic. It's not a dealbreaker and it's something I can give as the large 1/4 inch driver is fantastic. It's larger size and weight means that it is super powerful and even tough screws can be removed in seconds. You will find a lot of cheap generic kits around the £10 to £15 mark. I am not going to tell anyone not to buy one of those kits as I have had one of those sets myself and used it for years and been happy, however the quality of the Manta kit is a step above and it makes screwing and unscrewing screws a lot quicker. If you're looking for an all-in-one precision kit that will last you for years, this is it :)
Great product from great company.
It includes so many hard to find bits, has a life time warranty and is organized very well. The all aluminum drivers are very well made. I know this more than a lot of other precision bit sets on the market but you get what you pay for. Pay once, cry once. Support the right to repair and all the repair guides from iFixit and purchase this set, you won't regret it.
bueno pero...
Tiene muchas puntas, se sienten de calidad los mangos para desatornillar, el plástico de la caja no es tan bueno, con el transporte de rompió un pequeño pedazo, nada grave pero si debes tener cuidado si se te cae.
I’m absolutely, extremely pleased that I purchased this tool kit! Amazing!
Alright, fair warning this may be a little long but I’m hoping my review may help someone decide on the purchase if they were just like me and on the fence whether to buy it or not. All in all, I’m beyond satisfied with this tool kit! I literally use it for EVERYTHING and is one of my favorites! Which says a lot as I easily have a hundred grand worth of tools in my shop.Anyone looking to do electronic repairs needs a tool kit of some sort, I can’t even count how many I have owned over the last 20 years. I’ve used kits for less than $10 and others upwards to $250. The biggest issue is so often you lose a bit or bits and now you may as well get a new one. I was absolutely torn between purchasing the Manta or going with other kits on Bolo for around $25-$30 having a similar assortment as this one. I kept asking myself is it really worth the price tag? Even my most expensive electronics tools didn’t have much of a difference from the cheaper ones. I read many reviews for both the iFixit and the less expensive ones. Both were held in very high regard, these tools are basic and honestly the less expensive ones will perform just as well. But a lot of the time the less expensive ones may not feel right or be as precise as more expensive ones. I’m the end what sold me was the bits in the collection, the handles, and importantly the case!If this is your first tool kit purchase you may not be able to relate as well but anyone that has owned lesser quality kits I can guarantee that the case they come in is cheap and leaves you wanting more. Yes they hold your tools, but it’s amazing how easily parts fall out of them and poof, they’re gone. From my experience they can be in a folding/rolled up canvas or in a plastic case with very cheap plastic that breaks super easily when force is applied. I honestly have more duplicate bits mainly because pieces would fall out of the cheaper kits. The other problem is, well, the cheaper quality. I have a lot of bits that wore out and sometimes very quickly. And if that’s not a major issue, the bits don’t have a great fit and if your not careful you strip out your screws. Based on the reviews it has very good quality steel, they are extremely precise, and has the best case I’ve ever owned to hold it all in.I recently purchased a mint like new PlayStation Vita 1101 (3G with OLED). I honestly believe these consoles failed so miserably due to the proprietary flash memory. With the 3G model you can mod it by removing the 3G card and replace it with a microsd board and get massive storage! This device is in such good condition, 9.99/10 so I really didn’t want to damage the screws, I want it to look brand new forever. The iFixit bits are very precise. They easily grab the screw and there was no real wiggle between the bit and screw and the screws came out so easily. Not a scratch or imperfection on any of the screws. In addition, the handles are amazing. A lot of people say “the kit is so expensive because of the metal drivers, why pay extra if the do the same thing?” It’s so easy to explain, plastic ones are very light weight, a lot of the times you need to put a lot of pressure on the screw to prevent stripping. These drivers are solid and have a perfect weight to them. I barely had to put any pressure on the screw and they came out so easily (screws never came out since it was manufactured). Not only that but they feel really good in my hands, bery ergonomic. The best part is the top, it spins so smoothly and easily and just saves time and effort. I’ve never used a driver that moved this smoothly seriously. That right there was absolutely worth the price tag. Also with the added weight it’s so easy to torque the screws down without over tightening them! The bits themselves are a joy to use, they just grab the screw and sadly on less expensive kits I’ve had the bits start to show wear after one repair! I know these are going to take many repairs but what’s best is that they’re backed by a lifetime warranty! Literally, you will never have to replace them again saving money. The whole kit functions so well but I honestly have to say the best part is really the case they come in. First the magnetic top is simple and it won’t break easily. Cheaper kits have a cheap plastic latch or rope to close the case. With this you just pop it off and boom, you’re at your tools. Not only that you can put it underneath the case and the magnets attach it the the bottom so easily. But there’s more, the top has sections that you can use to organize your screws while working on your repair (I still use a magnetic sorter however haha). Simple design but extremely useful, it should be common sense to design it like the Manta kit. The magnets do a very good job keeping the case closed and I tested it a lot throwing it into my bag and it never opened on its own. Lastly is the tool storage on the inside. There’s just this sharp foam and the cutouts are made in a way where your bits can either go straight up and down or you can lean them forward. Basically it just makes it easier for me to find the bit I need. The cutouts are done really well for the bits and driver handles. They are a very snug fit and the parts just do not fall out for me even when shaking them. Just for looks the foam is a two tone so it’s just something more for visual clarity. The last thing was people wished the pressed image/label for the bits should’ve been painted or made a different color. Honestly I’m glad they didn’t, when you find yourself using the kit for just about everything that paint will come off and if they’re not depressed now you have to figure out what bit is what. I think it’s very well done, very simple and again it will last longer over time with use and abuse. I honestly like the case a lot better than my Wiha set, I wish it had something similar but I’m missing some tools from that one too. The case was just well throughout and the entire kit was too. It has every bit I could possibly need to do what they claim, 99% of all repairs. So the question remains, is it worth it to purchase? In my book absolutely, this should be the last kit I’ll ever need. It’s precise, strong, and very comfortable to use. If your on a tighter budget then maybe it may not be for you but in reality that warranty makes it a better bargain! In my opinion you should wait a week or two and get that extra cash and go with this kit. Trust me from experience you won’t be disappointed. Metal driver handles are SO much better than cheap plastic. I also live supporting iFixit, I’ve been using their guides since they first started. A lot of what I’ve learned was simply through their guides. It’s a total package honestly. If you can afford it and just want to save some money, I can’t recommend it. Your case may break, pieces may go flying everywhere, and there’s a good chance the bit heads won’t be precise. Lifetime warranty! How can you say no to that. It will literally be your last kit you’ll ever need, spend the extra you won’t be disappointed. With this kit I’ve done my Vita 1101 psvsd mod, fixed a PS4 Pro/PS4/PS3, Xbox One/S/X, Nintendo 3DS/XL, iPhone 11/12 screen replacement and battery replacement, Apple Watch 5 battery and screen, my fathers glasses, an alarm clock, built a custom 3D printed vape mod… you get the idea. I fix a lot of stuff as a hobby and it’s had everything I’ve needed for all my repairs. Again I couldn’t be happier I went with the iFixit Manta vs these less expensive Bolo/ebay offerings!
