5.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable and Looks Smart

I bought this chair to replace an aging office chair which was no longer comfortable.I am fairly heavy (18st or 112kg) and I am fairly tall too at 6ft2, with a large good amount of that weight being in y upper body. As such, I can't just pick up the first office chair I come to as they more often than not can not support my upper body when I recline (the back snaps or comes loose).I chose this chair for multiple reasons, it states it can support my weight, it looks good (not just bog standard black) and it is fairly priced (heavy duty chairs are expensive). It took me a little while to assemble alone, mainly due to an awkward part where you have to attach the arms and back at the same time. For some reason, the bolt on the one side didn't want to screw in and took a little wiggling. 10 minutes later and a whole bunch of grumbling, I finally got it to screw in properly.Once assembled, I adjusted the firmness of the recliner, and sat in the chair. It is very comfortable and the arms are the correct height for me. They go up and down, but I don't think they stay in any position in between the up or down position. My feet just about touch the floor when it is the lowest height setting when reclined back. Shorter people will likely find their feet leave the floor when reclining. The head rest is comfortable and adjustable. The chair does not creak or make any noise when moving or reclining.Overall, a good computer chair and I'm very happy with it. It goes very well with my new desk also.

4.0 out of 5 stars Turns out it's worth spending a little bit more.

Based on the reviews left by other buyers (thanks everyone) I decided to go ahead with this chair and I'm glad I did. Going to try to clarify some points that have surfaced in other reviews and give my thoughts based on my experience so far.Not having the largest budget I have generally tried to get away with cheaper chairs in the past and this hasn't really worked out. In the last few years I have developed arthritis in my hands and I find using a desktop PC much more comfortable than using a smart phone so I am now spending more time at my desk on my PC and less time in other places and as a result I needed something that primarily was comfortable for extended periods, gives me decent posture, does not have armrest or has armrest that can be moved out of the way as I think they exacerbate my issues with my arms, hands neck and shoulders and isn't too ridiculously expensive as I am on a budget. Based on other reviews I settled on the Songmics chair as I thought it fulfilled all of these criteria. So it was on my wish list for a while and I eventually pulled the trigger late last week.Assembly: The box it arrives in is fairly large, may be two and half feet by two and half feet by 1 foot and is reasonably heavy, the deliveryman said it was heavy and if delivery men say things are heavy then they generally are. I ended up just pushing mine along the floor rather than trying to pick it up but that worked okay. I read that assembly is an issue for one person and I would say that that is both true and not necessarily true depending on how you look at it. Let me clarify: most of the assembly can be done fairly easily by one person however there is one key stage that is very fiddly with just one person and you will need somebody to assist you. It's easy to assemble the base, add the column and the bottom part of the seat that you actually sit on, however the way the back attaches is via the armrest assembly and holding that in place and bolting it onto the seat at the same time really is very tricky so you will need the assistance of someone else for about five minutes, the rest can relatively easily be done by one person who has a decent understanding of assembling furniture. I certainly wouldn't say this was difficult.Impressions: My first impressions were not necessarily the greatest, I found that the packaging was rather inconsistent on the base, I found that some of the parts weren't in the absolute best condition, I couldn't tell if this was maybe because this has been returned and sent out again or if it's just that this is the way it comes from the factory but there were some birrs on the edge of metal parts that I removed and generally speaking the parts aren't necessarily the quality I would expect from something that is absolutely brand-new. The seat base and the chair back had some kind of markings on them that look like the same kind of markings as if you had spilt juice on it or something like that. There were only a few flecks and I did give the surface a good clean with a baby wipe but I'm not sure that really took them away 100 percent. That said I don't think there will be any breaking issues down to quality, the parts all feel plenty solid and I can imagine this chair still being very sturdy in ten years time. So first impressions I was thinking hmmmm but I ploughed on regardless.Comfort: Once the chair was assembled and the armrests were conveniently moved up out of the way I gave it a try. First impressions are that the base is a slightly odd shape but once you get used to it I find it very comfortable. I spent 4 to 5 hours and last night without even really noticing and then stood up and was like "oh wow"! Normally in similar situations my butt/thighs have gone to sleep but not in this chair! So that's a plus. Previous reviews have mentioned that you need to be taller to find this chair comfortable. I am 5 foot nine and strangely for a woman have more height in my torso than average rather than in my legs. I find the chair to be very comfortable but I find I do need a foot rest (which fortunately I already have and use) otherwise my feet would not quite touch the floor fully flat comfortably due to the long length of the seat. The backrest I find supportive all the way up to my shoulder blades and then my natural sitting position means that the top of my shoulders, arms and head are supporting themselves rather than being propped up by the chair and I find this is a very natural, comfortable and ergonomic position to be in. The more I sit in this chair the more comfortable I find it and the more pleased I am with it. I will update my review once my other half has had an opportunity to try the chair for an extended period as she is 5'3" so that should be a good comparison.Overall I do find this chair very comfortable and for that it accomplishes the main goal of buying it and I am pleased with my purchase. Aesthetics wise it looks like a black faux leather-ish sort of chair, it's not the most elegant thing in the world, it looks almost like a car seat in a way, more gamer chair than executive chair but that doesn't bother me too much, I'm more concerned with the comfort and functionality. It certainly doesn't look bad, but I find it doesn't look high end either. That said, for the taller person I would absolutely recommend this chair if you value comfort over everything and this fits your budget. I will try to update this review as time goes on and I have more information to share.Update: I have now got my other half to try the chair also. She is 5'3.5" and she finds the armrests are too high and the back and shoulder support is in the wrong place so it seems like this chair is best for people with longer backs, so probably designed around men rather than women for the most part. A week or so later I'm still finding this chair very comfortable, although I do find it pushes my shoulder's forwards and I need to be mindful of my shoulder position if I don't want to end up with some aches.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the assembly and great for tall people

    A.P. · 20 April 2022

I shopped around for ages and even bought a few others before this which I sent back. These are first impressions so I may update later, but for now I am definitely happy with the chair. We'll see if it starts making me sore as time goes.I will admit that the assembly is finicky. 2 people is definitely preferable but I managed on my own. I did also give support 4 stars (but overall still 5). Deducted 1 for support because at first it doesn't feel super supportive. That said, this chair is replacing one that was making my back sore because its support was too pronounced, so this may turn into a positive over time as I adjust to it.The most important thing to note is that this is a great chair for tall people. I am 6'2" and have a very hard time finding chairs tall enough for me. So many "high back" chairs claim to have padded head rests which end up around my shoulders. There are also a ridiculous amount of chairs which outright misrepresent the size of their products. But I am happy to confirm that this one does not misrepresent. The adjustable head rest is perfectly in line with my head and isn't even on the highest setting, and in fact is usable on the lowest setting. So I can imagine this working even for people a fair few inches taller than I am. The seat is also high enough off the ground that I don't have to stick my legs way out in front or tuck them under, another thing which is very hard to find. And again, this too is not even on the highest setting.First impressions of comfort are good. The chair is very well padded and feels quality. I've seen some reviews complain about the plastic arm rests because they look metal, but it's very solid feeling plastic and at first I wasn't really sure whether it even was plastic or if it were metal. So definitely not a cheap feel at all. To me, not worth deducting over because it still looks and feels very sturdy. Some advice on the assembly. As I said I will admit that it is finicky. But it's not too bad if you really take to heart the instructions' advice not to tighten the armrest and back screws until the very end. And I mean the VERY end. Having as much wiggle room as as possible is absolutely necessary to get everything lined up in the last few steps, otherwise you end up like that guy who said he ended up just drilling new holes.

    Fantástico en todo.

    Comfortable stable and good quality

    Comoda in tutti gli aspetti

    A.D. · 28 July 2019
