This purchase was absolutely perfect for my needs. The product was well packed, no missing pieces, easy to assemble and arrived fast with Prime. The product was able to completely dry all the clothes in the pictures to a standard kind of "tumble dryer feeling" (all the clothes literally felt hot afterwards) in 2.5 hours after a "60 ECO" wash in a samsung washing machine which has a spin drying cycle of about 20-25 mins (I think) . I will be trying a shorter drying cycle, perhaps with 2.25 hours (2:15) or 2 hours, but in general 2-3 hours for all those clothes were reasonably cost effective for me for a weekly wash/dry (I live alone). I actually tried another load which was similar and dried "pretty well" in 1:50 mins (accidentally stopped the motor 10 mins earlier), though not as dry as the one in 2.5 hours. One thing that I definitely recommend you to do is to remove (or not install in the first place) the intermediate bar that is closest to the top as seen in the pictures given I can confirm what other reviewers have said about the space between the 2nd and 3rd bar (bottom to top or viseversa) being too short for you to be able to hang adult clothes there. I realize that this may affect the structural integrity a bit but it didn't seem to have any problem with the load that I put and also, it improves the experience of hanging clothes as you normally would rather than using the little "extra" hangers that the product comes with. Moreover, I think hanging the clothes in this way, rather than using the extra hangers gives you much more space in general, and I assume this also improves the flow of air. Indeed, the other dry I talked about (1:50) didn't have this modification which makes me think the clothes would normally be dry on 2 hours or less. If the system was somehow unable to hang the clothes normally like this, I would not recommend it, as the process with the extra hangers is a bit annoying. I think the manufacturer should realise that more space is needed in that middle area to hang normal adult clothes, and that it should provide us with a system that has appropriate structural integrity such that I wouldn't need to "test" whether it supports the load on that upper bar without the middle one or not.Another thing that I also recommend if you want to make the most out of it is to avoid constantly checking whether the clothes are ready as you would with normal drying rack. This is not helpful because when you open the rack a lot of heated air escapes which affects the overall process. I would say the best way to operate is simply by time and based on usage/experience with it. For example, start by putting 2 hours, let it run and check the state when it finishes (not before). If for that particular type of load you think it was too much or it needed a bit more time, then adjust it the next time you use it. In general what I am saying is... DO NOT PEEK and let the machine do its job!!!Last bit. The product can fold easily, BUT I found it very likely that it will fall off with any small disturbance to it (when vertical), not to mention that it can also "unfold" quite easily meaning any small disturbance can unfold it which will most likely cause it to also fall in the process because of the overall dynamics that would emerge, so unless you have it against something, I wouldn't say is the most stable. However, for me this wasn't a problem given I found I nice place where to keep it unfolded. Now, I do have to say that even open, the product can lean backwards and forwards quite easily because of the folding mechanism, meaning the product has the freedom to reach +/- 30 degrees from the vertical axis with that mechanism which can also be annoying as it just feels more unstable like that, in particular, when it is not loaded. Nonetheless, the product comes with a couple of "fixers" that you can use to add stability in case you want to keep it unfolded like me, and they definitely improved the overall stability feel to it. Maybe if there was a way to also "fix" it when folded it would also be nice.So that's it. Overall I am extremely happy with my purchase, and I am certainly looking to use my product a lot!Good luck with your decision...
4.0 out of 5 stars Good product
So after reading the reviews I was slightly apprehensive about this item but I have been pleasantly surprised.Lots of the reviews said it was difficult to put together and had sharp edges. Well all I can say is it was relatively easy to put together, instructions not the best but with a little common sense it was straight forward. I came with safety gloves but they weren't needed. I didn't find any sharp edges.I also have a Dry Buddy. It doesn't dry as fast as my Dry Buddy, but it is double the size so that is to be expected. However it's better than having wet washing on an airer for days and it's alot cheaper than the tumble dryer. It takes about 3-4 hours to dry a full load. You do have to hang it correctly for effective drying. It has to heat settings high and low and a long digital timer. It's fairly sturdy. I haven't folded it as there's no need for me to. And it comes on wheels which is handyAll in all it quiet and the pretty cover makes it look better.Would recommend
5.0 out of 5 stars Saved A Fortune
Bought this to help reduce the cost of drying from my tumble dryer and it’s definitely done that. (My smart meter goes straight into the red when I use the tumble dryer but stays in the green when I use this).Yes I admit that it’s a bit of a faff to get the clothes in there (its def quicker and easier with a tumble dryer) but the results are so worth it.I invested in two sets of hangers, one normal and one with clips to hold trousers and I’m delighted that a) it uses far less electricity and b) it reduces the amount of ironing! I can fit an entire 12k wash into the airer and it takes around 2 1/2 to 3 hours to dry a full load (that’s been spun on 1200 spin) but you do have to ensure that you leave adequate room between the clothes to get them fully dry.I use the hangers provided with the airer on the top row for pants and socks, then the middle row for tee shirts/shirts/jumpers and the bottom for trousers/leggings which I fold in half at the legs and use the clip hangers to secure, just make sure the bottom row clothes don’t cover the fan!The bottom bar does stop most tee shirts from draping freely but I alternate them with one draped over the back of the bar and one draped over the front. For dresses I use hangers and then just use the bar at the top at the back (flat against the wall of the airer) and it dries them beautifully and not creased.I have has this for a few weeks now and can get it fully loaded in around 5 minutes.I do think it’s trial and error though but perseverance pays off.One tip is to stand it on a towel as it can cause a bit of condensation but it’s manageable and not a big issue. The other tip is that if you want to check if the washing is dry don’t open the airer, just feel the outside, if it still feels tepid the washing isn’t dry but if it feels quite warm it means the moisture has all gone.It does take up a bit of room but I have a utility so it’s ok for me and I’ve not tried to fold it down like it says you can.The fan is quieter than my tumble dryer so noise isn’t an issue. For the price I think it’s an excellent buy and highly recommend!😃
Great solution for apartments
I didn't have a dryer hook up and they are not allowed in my building, however, this gets around the rules and works efficiently and effectively. My clothes are dry and clean and it reduces my need for the humidifier in winter and less heat. The part did arrive damaged but the company was great to work with and sent it out and a few other extra parts should I need it. Great buy!
Stopped working after 2 months of use
I purchased this in September and started using it in late October. It seemed to work well in the beginning. I would use it about once or twice a week. It did not dry clothes in 60 minutes which is the default setting. Last week, however, I discovered that I could set it to run longer, so I have done a few loads at 120 minutes which is about how long it takes to get socks and dish towels almost dry. The problem is that I think when you run it that long it overheats. As a result after the third time of running a load for 120 minutes, it started sputtering and stopped blowing out heat. It still heats up; it just doesn't blow heat out, so it is not useful for the intended objective of drying clothes. I figure I have done about a dozen loads before it broke so at $65.00 for the dryer that comes out to $5.42 per load. That is very expensive. I would like to return it, but it only has a 30 day return (except if you buy it now, because of the extended Christmas return policy.) Disappointed.
Worth every Penny!!
Worth every penny. I don't even hang dry the clothes before using it and after a couple of hours everything is perfectly dry. It isn't too loud; it runs behind my couch as I watch TV. So happy with this product was compelled to get online and rate it. For those who are t permitted to have washer/dryer units in their apartments, this is your solution!!!
Gets the job done!!
You will not be disappointed using this product. However, take my review with a grain of salt, because everyone's living situation is different. For me, I purchased this product because I didn't want to use the same washers and dryers everyone else was using in my apartment complex (i.e Covid-19 concerns). Please take in consideration that this product does not function like a regular dryer, meaning it's not quick and the heat is mild. Then again, it gets the job done! I have a three product/system I use. After all the clothes are finished in my portable washing machine I use in the tub and I've rung all the water out by hand, I transfer the clothes straight to the clothing dryer and whatever clothes I have left, because there wasn't enough space, I place on my portable drying rack to hang dry. Depending on the clothing material will determine how fast it'll dry from my experience. I've dried long sleeve shirts, tank tops, socks, personal under garments, king sized sheets, pillow cases, waterproof pillow cases, jeans, sweat pants, and workout shorts and pants. This product does produce mild heat, which is fantastic. As you can see, I placed my clothing dryer on my balcony. There is no reason for me placing it out there. It just works better for my set up. One thing to note, that maybe a concern for some, the drying machine unit, which produces the heat, is a bit loud, but not too loud to cause concern. I do live on the second floor, with a downstairs neighbor who is hypersensitive to noise, but so far my neighbor hasn't complained once, which is a surprise because on my laundry days, I've had this Clothing Dryer unit running for 8 hours straight sometimes. You may also wonder if this product adds to your electric bill, I can safely say, at least for me, it did not! This product didn't even put a dent in my PG&E bill. Overall, I highly recommend this product!!! I hope this review is helpful!!
Pleasantly surprised - works as described!
Right off the bat I assumed this would be a headache - but decided to give it a try.I am very pleasantly surprised and very happy about it! This works as described and really does dry my clothes in about 2-3 hours. The instructions (for me) helped 0% - I looked up a couple of youtube videos then used my own common sense to put it together. What I couldn't figure out was how it folded (up or down?), eventually I settled on it folding UP, in the way that an umbrella folds DOWN, this was reversed. Overall it took me about 20 minutes to put together without too much of a headache. The "dryer" with remote is easy enough to install, the bigger part has two "legs" that fold out and sit on top of the bottom metal rods and the remote hangs (a little too loose for my taste) on the top left of the dryer-closet.It is also SUPER quiet! After I pressed power, I heard the dryer turn on and was surprised at how quiet it was! I thought it would be loud like a hair-dryer but it wasn't. It even has 2 additional settings that make it quieter. Overall I am really super happy with this dryer! On my first try, I put in 4 t-shirts, 1 polo gold shirt, 6 pairs of underwear, and 2 shorts. After 2 hours, everything was 90% dry, so I put it in for another 60 minutes, but 25 minutes in, I checked the clothes and they were all pretty dry. But I let it run its course and removed the clothes after 60 more minutes (3 hours in total).I was concerned that the holes on top would let out a lot of hot air into the room - since I had set it up in the living room, I was expecting the room to get hot, but it didn't. You can definitely feel the warmth if you step up about a foot closet to the dryer-closet.Pro tip: I put in 2 dryer sheets hanging between the middle rods under clothes hangers - and the clothes caught the scent and came out fairly unwrinkled.
