5.0 out of 5 stars Not cheap, but great quality

    S. · 9 October 2024

As per all Hue stuff, this light wasn’t cheap, but very nicely made, and comes with everything needed to use it (it is an extension to an existing Hue outdoor light system, so does t come with the power supply).Dead simple to install (big spike at the bottom which holds it firmly in place in the flower bed) and to add to the Hue system. Looks great lit and unlit, and easy to configure in the app.

Great investment in your garden, being able to play with various colour moods is brilliant.

5.0 out of 5 stars Costly, but worth the money.

I've relied on solar lights for my garden for years. They're great in summer, but worthless in winter when you really want that dark space lighting up. I'd started investing in Hue Smart Lights in the house, so the move to installing them outdoors was a natural progression. We took a deep breath and spent a decent lump of money on 6 spotlights bought as two seperate base units (see later) and two extension pedestals, . They were dead easy to instal. We followed the advice of others and set them up on the Hue app simply by plugging them all together indoors (and thus making sure they all worked). We created 2 seperate "zones" to put them in (ie 3 spots and 1 pedestal in each). Then, we just disconnnected them and reconnected them outside. Now spread around the garden, they look fabulous at night and the option to create different colours on a "per bulb" basis is just a lovely addition. Cabling is simple to connect from our outdoor electric sockets. It now needs us to just move them around, over time, to highlight the different parts of our garden that we want to. We also bought an additional 5 meter extension cable, but this is unecessary. The spotlights come with 3 x 5metre lengths, so you have plenty of cable to work with. And, there is enough cable from the plug to the first light to ensure there is no need to buy extra cable.Note that these lights do need a Hue Bridge (connected via eternet cable to the wifi router) to make them work. Note also that you must purchase at least one "base" unit as that includes the plug and transformer. In the case of our purchase, the two pedestals were classed as "extensions" and, again, come with plenty of cabling but, as extensions, do not include the plug and transformer. I really like the fact that, once you've made the commitment, it is extremely easy to add lights to the maximum allowed "per cable from the plug" by Hue. That is 5 lights or 35 metres of cable. So, we're nearly at the maximum unless we add more base units, but as it stands right now, I doubt we'll need to worry. The lighting is bright enough to create good effects, although once you move into colours rather than white, the power of the light is definitely less. But, that is, I think, a good thing as surely use of colours is more for effect than you may use white light for?I'm very happy to give these a 5 star rating. It's unfair, as some have done, to mark them down because they're expensive (which they undoubtedly are). As with everything, you get what you pay for and if these bulbs last for the expected 6 or 7 years, then I think the annual cost is quite acceptable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Can leak if not installed with care

    t. · 14 May 2024

I’ve taken apart a failed one of these units (1 of 5 that I own) and the construction and design looks very good. However, the fact remains that in some cases water ingress is possible and that can lead to failure via corrosion and shorting on the internal LED strip. I suspect this can occur if the unit is not completely horizontal, and so I will be making sure that my lights are screwed down so they can’t be knocked over by wildlife. It’s a shame that a product that seems to have such good quality design intentions is let down by poor execution, and that a £160 investment (RRP) is rendered useless by the failure of parts costing less than 1p. I shall be replacing the internal strip with some cheap wholesale equivalent and resealing with lots of silicone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the XL version

    T. · 18 April 2023

We’ve had a set of the larger Lily XL lights for over a year now but when I spotted the smaller version at almost half RRP on Bolo recently, I treated myself to a set. I have to say that they are more discrete and sleek than the XL version and though not as bright, are still plenty bright enough. I would probably choose these over the XL as the extra output isn’t worth the bulk in my opinion. We have a whole house and garden full of hue kit and on the whole we are very happy with it. Yes it’s pricey, but you are paying for the build quality and reliability…it all just works seamlessly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Used as decking lights

    S.S. · 5 January 2022

The media could not be loaded. I thought I would write this review in case anybody was thinking of doing something similar. I took the plunge buying these lights after months of dithering and glad I did!I wanted to illuminate my decking area in my garden but didn’t fancy hard wiring lights and I have an outside socket that I could easily plug these into. I attached all three lights to a plinth (ie a piece of wood I managed to pinch from work and stain before bolting to the wall). They throw a decent amount of light onto the space and I love that they can be synced with my Spotify account! (Fairly shoddy video demonstrating - looks better in real life!)Usual Philips Hue quality and unfortunately that means usual Philips Hue price tag! I think it’s worth it. Eventually I will tidy up the cables…

I have 5x Philips Hue Amarants, and not only are they easy to install but they are uncomplicated in their operation and their function is limited simply by your mind on choosing how to use them.Fully interactive with Bolo Alexa and I have mine as coming on lights, mood lights, security lights and Eve built a feature where they all go green so that takeaway delivery drivers can find me easily at night!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice addition to our Hue lights

    R. · 25 November 2022

I bought these during a Black Friday flash sale and they’re really good additions to what we already have.In terms of installation they’re really simple to install once you get your head round the logic and technique of the cable and connectors. The way the lights themselves fit to the stakes is good. They’re very sturdy and nothing like the normal cheap lights you get which are solar powered, which can break easily. The lights themselves are great and really add an ambience to the garden. Would defo recommend!

Incroyable. Très simple d’utilisation et d’installation

Erstklassiges Produkt und vorbildlicher Service vom Hersteller

    T.W. · 15 March 2024

So weit so gut.

The media could not be loaded.
