5.0 out of 5 stars Far better than I could have expected.
Bought this after my beloved SteelSeries Apex M800 died after 5 years and finding a replacement was not happening, and I'm really glad I made the jump to Razer.Pros+ The feeling and the click of a keypress is the most satisfying on any keyboard I have ever used. Really a delight to feel and hear.+The response time is incredible, one of the fastest I've used.+The build quality is solid and doesn't seem to mark.+Very easy to clean, even getting cat hair out is a quick half a second job.+Keyboard itself looks really nice.+RGB appearance and high amount of customisation is top-notch and nothing else comes close.+Incredibly comfortable to type on, and the wrist rest is also one of the comfiest I've ever used.+Dedicated media switches have been really useful, not just for listening to music on Spotify, but been using in games like Warcraft and Starcraft 2.+Razer Synapse software has come a long way and is much easier to use, and has a lot of built in functions.Cons-No media or USB passthrough like on the Blackwidow Elite, though it's definitely not a dealbreaker as I wouldn't really have used it personally.-No Macro keys, the only thing that for me stops it being a perfect keyboard, though it's again not a dealbreaker as it just means a short bit of tweaking in the Synapse software to use key combinations to swap macros rather than a dedicated button. All in all, it's been a really nice keyboard to use so far, definitely a worthwhile investment and far better than I was expecting.
5.0 out of 5 stars Expensive but definitely worth it if you like clicky keys and type a lot.
Firstly I'm not a gamer. I type and code a LOT every single day. I'm a big fan of 'clicky' keys because of personal preference and it's what I'm used to. I find it satisfying and because I'm used to it I it makes me type a lot faster and more precisely without having to bottom out the keys leading to sore fingers. I've gone through 3 cheap 'clicky' mechanical keyboards in the last 4 years because keys have failed or become unreliable and each time I was gutted that I had to replace it. When my ESC key stopped working recently and I needed to replace my keyboard yet again I started looking at higher price points and this and even more expensive Corsair K100 caught my eye. Having tried both I can say with certianty that the build quality of the Razer far exceeds the Corsair. The Corsair was abysmal for coding, frequently freezing, lagging and the software crashing and text macro's not working reliably. This one on the other hand is rock solid. The software is great and I've had no problem programming long text macros to keys I don't use often which speeds up programming enormously. Unlike the Corsair, the macros type INSTANTLY! The clicky optical switches in this thing are brilliant and should last a really long time as they don't rely on electrical contacts.Having done extensive online typing tests with this keyboard my accuracy and speed has improved on this keyboard significantly. It looks cool too, the LED's make the keys easy to read but I wouldn't say it looks as good as the Corsair. For work though, it's brilliant. The volume dial on the side is fantastic. I'm really pleased with the keyboard and it's significantly cheaper than the Corsair k100 but I would say the corsair does have the edge when it comes to appearance. I wouldn't say the wrist rest on this keyboard is uncomfortable but it's not as comfortable as the Corsair K100 wrist rest. I spend so much time at the computer ergonomics are really important to me but this isn't proving to be a problem after a significant amount of usage. If you're a pro you can't go wrong I think this is the best you can get. It's definitely the best keyboard I have used. If you're a gamer it's good but you might prefer the look and feel and extra buttons of the Corsair K100 more.
5.0 out of 5 stars Solid build quality with satisfying click!
I bought this largely for the opto-mechanical switches as I've gone through two mechanical keyboards in the last three years so I decided to buy something that will last a little longer. I'm not a gamer so I have no need for all the macros etc. but as a software engineer I'm hammering my keyboard all day every day and this has an excellent build quality with a comfortable arm rest and very satisfying clickiness. Also having a volume dial is a nice touch!I've only had it for a couple months so I'll see if it stands the test of time but so far I'm impressed!
