Confirm whether you carry the DQ2.5*02 genetic variant, present in 90-95% of coeliac subjects and the DQ8, *0302 genetic variant, genes associated with an increased risk of coeliac disease.
Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA)-typing is used to confirm or exclude the possibility of coeliac disease. Test DQ2.5*02 and DQ8, *0302 genetic variants
Negative results for both genetic variants make a coeliac disease diagnosis highly unlikely. The negative predictive value is greater than 99%.
DNA testing will work irrespective of your current diet. A gluten free diet is not required to take this test.
Needs only mouth swab samples, no blood required.
Results provided in 5-7 working days from receipt of samples.
NOTE: This is not a diagnostic test. Even if the test results confirm that you carry the genes known to increase the risk of coeliac disease it does not mean you suffer from it, or will ever develop it. If you do not carry the genes you will not develop coeliac disease.
The sample collection kit contains 2 x sterile mouth swabs, welcome letter, step-by-step sample collection instructions, client registration form, consent form and return envelope.
Instructions
Collect cheek cells by rolling the tip of the sample collection swab firmly on the inside of the right cheek and under the tongue for about 30 seconds. Be certain to move the swab over the entire inner cheek surface. This action should be firm but not aggressive and should not be uncomfortable. Light pressure is adequate. This procedure is totally painless. Repeat with the second swab on the inside of the left cheek.
Place the swab envelope, plus the completed consent form, into the return envelope. Then simply return to us.

This is not a diagnostic test. The standard test (with 2 markers), in case of positivity, requires confirmation with a serological test or an intestinal biopsy. The extended test (with 16 markers), on the other hand, gives the attribution to a risk class ranging from high to very low. If the result is negative with the extended test, this can also be considered as a diagnostic test and not just a screening test.
Your test results are solely for informational and/or educational purposes only and should NOT be used for making medical, health or any other decisions without consulting a medical professional. Always speak to your doctor and seek professional help before taking action. The test does not replace a visit to a doctor, nor the advice or services of a doctor or other qualified specialist.
