As much as we love the outdoors what we hate is the nasty little biting insects. Deet was always the thing to fight them off but we’ve had to be careful with deet sprays as both my wife and I seem to have developed a rection to anything with deet in it and TBF most of the deet spray are limited to 10% deet so later in the day they don’t appear to effective. It’s therefore nice to try something that’s formulated with natural ingredients rather than chemical ingredients.Ok so it’s expensive for what is it but at least it doesn’t smell as badly as some of the deet sprays, infact we felt it was quite pleasant smell, more like a perfume or and aftershave.Bearing in mind the issues we had with other sprays we did try a small amount first. My wife didn’t have any issues but it caused a small amount on irritation my skin (less so than the deet based products) – I think this is due to essential oils – perhaps I used to much?It comes in a glass bottle not a plastic bottle so it’s easily recycled (another good thing) when empty and with it being 50ml you can take it in hand luggage.£34.99 is quite expensive but then so is Dr.Hauschka (another natural ingredient product) sun cream and that works a treat for us.The proper test is going to come in a month time in Aruba – and so well revisit and update if it does what it claims on the listing, but in the meantime we think this item deserves 4 stars.

When I saw this I had to get it for my daughter for her travel as she’s always getting bitten by mosquitoes but she doesn’t like the insect sprays but this one has been great as it comes almost like a scented perfume but with the benefits of a insect repellent spray, it’s been tried and tested many times and my daughter found it to be really effective.

I am spending time this summer in the Outer Hebrides and am hoping this Alfresco Power Fragrance Spray, Anti Bug Bite Insect Repellent Spray will help to deter the midges there. The bottle contains 50ml and it sprays on like a perfume. I have tried the spray on my skin and have had no adverse reaction to it. I thought it would smell a lot stronger than it does and the fragrance it does have is very pleasant and according to the listing is has a blend of 14 sustainably sourced essential oils in spray. I like that it is not too strong and will be interested to see how it deters insects. It is good to have an insect repellent that does not contain deet. The bottle contains 50ml which will not go very far really although it is a fine spray which will help it to last. It comes in quite expensive for the amount you get however if it works well, it is well worth it. I rather like it as a fragrance as well and look forward to the 'bug' season so I can wear it.
