The Subcold Ultra 15 Mini Fridge is beautifully designed, so quiet that the sound is almost non-existent. Testing for an hour on the mains, it is powerful enough as it cooled in that time more than I expected. My only very slight criticism is that the two flimsy plastic shelves are difficult to move around and re position, there being a very limited choice where you place them. You would have difficulty making anything else to use instead. I would not worry about that though. I am being picky.I had wanted a mini fridge for a while, having thought that one might be useful in the car when I go on a road trip. I do like to eat out in the countryside when away, not pay a lot more and over eat indoors. However, I did not purchase one because most are plastic designs like a cool box with some space taken up by the cooling unit, rather clumsy and cheap. Most are quite heavy and you cannot use them unless the engine is running to avoid flattening the battery, so what's the point?However I recently had a few days away and the B&B where I stayed had a mini fridge in the room, albeit much smaller than the Subcold Ultra 15, but otherwise it served its purpose and was very useful to me as I mostly prefer not to eat my evening meal out while away, or at least feel freely able to decide when I do and do not. The mini fridge on that occasion had a fan but was quiet enough not to keep me awake.So I bought the Subcold Ultra 15 Mini Fridge to use on the mains in my room, thinking if in the car it is useful too, that will be a bonus but I probably will just resort to my Coleman cool box there and use the min fridge only in my accommodation. The size is perfect and the handle makes it easier to move around. The 15 litre size is perfect to keep food fresh for my lunch and cold dinner and have some choice from day to day. I would prefer it to be a little smaller and lighter but then it would be a little cramped inside for space. The door is held closed by a magnet which quite strong but I have stitched together a bit of webbing into a loop to place over, so as never to be at risk. The 15 litre size feels quite heavy but not excessively so.I have not mentioning anything about using the unit to war things up. That is not something I would ever want to do with it.

Update:I just took a star off because this failed after just over a year - just out of warranty. Annoying, but having looked at all the alternatives on Bolo, it's the one that suits my requirements best and is best value for its features. So I'm ordering another.The instructions say it's not intended for 24/7 use. So this time I'll turn it off more frequently. I did do that occasionally with the old one but not very often. Maybe that contributed to it's failure.This fridge gets a puddle of water in it after a few days. Looking at reviews, this is a common complaint about mini fridges. I simply soak it up with a cloth.Another down side is that in very hot weather (last summer's heat wave) this mini fridge can't cool very well. (Again, looking at reviews, this is a common problem with these mini fridges.) But it's still better than having to drink water at sweltering room temperature. And nothing ever went off if I ate it within a couple of days.Original review:This is used in a bedroom and when we travel. Medical reasons mean having cold water and basic nutritious food on hand is essential.Remember to leave a little space around the back and sides for ventilation - don't jam it in between other furniture.This mini fridge has two leads, one for home use and one in the car, making it extremely versatile.The food is definitely as cold as in a normal fridge and I haven't had anything go off - not even dairy. I even noticed some build up of frost/ice on the inside back wall after using it constantly for a week. This is easily removed with a plastic ice scraper that most fridge/freezers come with.It's compact enough to fit most places and not be too heavy, but big enough to hold: a pint of milk, 500ml pot of yoghurt, a 500ml water bottle, small cheese and small fruit/salad items all at the same time.We haven't used the keep warm setting yet. I expect it would be good for takeaways or going to a pot luck supper.You have to experiment to see what foods fit where and which shelves to use and how much to fill the door baskets, otherwise things clash and the door won't close.You also have to to ensure you don't put food beyond the internal line, or the baskets clash with it and the door won't close. Also, if you pile things up in the top basket, it clashes with the top shelf. Experimenting before travelling is essential.We took out the shelf in the middle so that it could take taller items - both on the floor of the fridge and in the bottom basket. Eg 500ml water bottle.A single pint (plastic bottle) can be fitted in the bottom door basket when the middle shelf is removed.We put an adjustable suitcase strap around the fridge when carrying it with food in (eg from car to indoors) just in case the magnetic closure wasn't strong enough if the food fell against the door.REMEMBER TO TAKE THE MAINS POWER LEAD WHEN YOU TAKE IT ON HOLIDAY!!! We'd been so careful to find the car 12v lead and set it up in the car, we forgot the mains lead! The company were very efficient when I contacted them in a panic by email on our journey. They referred me to their website so I could order a spare lead. (Depending on the payment method you can use, they were willing to order it for me and send it immediately, just as a result of my email - very impressive service!) But I had to order from their website. Even so, the lead arrived at our holiday destination within 48hrs, so we were very pleased.This product has been a godsend and I wouldn't be without it.

This fridge is great keeps drinks really really cold wish I bought it sooner. I bought it for my bedroom as I always take cold drinks up to bed was using a cool box which you put ice blocks in. There is a slight noise but not a problem very quiet and I have it placed on the floor next to bed where my head is and I am a light sleeper, this does not bother me. There was a small build up of ice in fridge after a few weeks, but just turned it off for a little while and it defrosted, there are 2 x metal screws inside and that is where the frost comes. Well worth the money. Not tried in car yet or not tried the warm setting
