5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent tool
I have always been a tool fan since I was an apprentice toolmaker a long time ago. I purchased this as I began making some walking poles and wanted to do some carving on the handles - designs, names etc. I found the tool itself with the extension was ideal for my purpose. Some of the bits are not very good quality and soon become useless, but I bought a carbide bit, suitable for what I need and does the job very well. It looks like it will be a long lasting piece of kit and well worth the money.
4.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE this tool
I bought this rotary tool to help with DIY and crafting. I’ve used it a couple of times and so far I’m very impressed. I couldn’t afford a more expensive tool and was skeptical of whether this one would work, but so far I’ve been able to:- Use the rotary blade to cut through wood planks- Use the extender attachment for more precision cuts- use various drilling tools to make holes in plastic- use the sanding attachment on wood cutsPositives:- The tool is very versatile for the price, with multiple speeds and a variety of attachments to choose from- The Chuck feature adds security to the attachments and is easy to use once you get the hang of it- The extender attachment enables more precise cutting and handling, with a solid enough connection that you don’t lose power- A wide verity of attachments are included as part of the kit, with a list of which can be used for what materials in the instructionsNegatives- The chuck feature is a little fiddly when you use it at first, and it feels risky attaching created cutting wheels, as you have to thread them onto a screw attachment first. That being said, I’ve found using tweezers to build the attachment and wedging the tool in place to add it into the tool has worked well.- The instructions are limited, and I had to watch a few YouTube videos to understand how to attach some tools when I began using it- As the tool is mains powered and the speed switches sit across the centre without a shield, it feels risky switching attachments when it’s plugged in, so I’d recommend keeping an extension lead nearby.- While there is an attachment at the side of the tool to hang it up when using the extender for more precision work, it doesn’t come with any hanging apparatus. I ended up with the tool on my lap, as I needed access to the varying speeds and was worried about it rolling off the table. I’d recommend buying a stand separately if you intend to use the extender attachment.Overall, I’m very happy with this tool. I wasn’t expecting much for the price, and it’s provided exactly what I need to get started with Rotary tool crafts and DIY.The only reason I have given 4 stars instead of 5, is that a more comprehensive instruction booklet would be really appreciated.
5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant wee tool
I like the variety of attachments, though may have to buy more. They seem to cover all I need at the moment.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great value for money
I needed to do delicate work on glass . The attachment that enabled me to hold machine like a pen was real easy to attach and worked brilliantly. Seriously great tool
3.0 out of 5 stars Great value, but gets dangerously hot
I thought this product was excellent value and perfectly good quality. Sadly I had to return it because the flex shaft attachment got dangerously hot after only a couple of minutes' use. It literally left me with a burn on my finger, so I didn't feel it was safe. As the flex shaft was the primary reason I bought the product, I paid more than double and ordered a Dremel instead (its flex shaft doesn't overheat).
5.0 out of 5 stars Very good multi tool - Lots of accessories - Fitted Case - Good value for money - extension included
I bought this to replace a now dead Dremel multi tool. I don't use these very often, but main purpose is too polish a shotgun barrel action and also to remove scuffs and marks from a MacBook casing. The Dremel I had for years did the job fine, but considering how little it was used (prob once a month for 2 minutes) I was surprised to see it fail, even though its always lived inside the house away from moisture etc. I have been buying cheaper Chinese brand equivalents products and always buy on the basis if its no good I will send it back - no need to with this. It was delivered yesterday and I used it for around 30 minutes last night, doing the polish on my shotguns first, no problem, possibly more powerful than the Dremel it replaced. I then polished the sratch marks on my iPad, again, no bother, done what was needed easily. I then spent another 25 minutes messing round with some old bits of metal and wood. This comes with a shed load of accessories and even grinding guards. All very impressive for the price, but Im probably most impressed by the extension lead that moves the bit away from the main unit meaning lower vibration and great precision in awkward jobs. The plug is a decent UK CE spec plug and the switch is nice as it has several fixed positions rather than a variable wheel which was the failure on the dremmel it replaced. If you think you can get more for your money if you are paying less than £25 you must be mad, got to be £60 if it had a B&Q sticker on the front... I think for a hobbyist user, great product with everything you need. They even include new bushes for the electric motor! madness!Ps, instructions are brief, but its all pretty self explanatory!
4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant for craft projects but the instruction booklet is useless!!
I have bought this as I have a few projects that I want to craft for Halloween ( MDF tombstones bought last year in the sale), I have never done anything like engraving before so at £28 (it was half price) I couldn’t resist. The rotary tool is very very good (altho I am a newbie) but the instructions are very poor. It is as though it is for someone who knows already how to change the attachments and what each attachment does!!!!! All I can say is thank god for google and for Halloween Craft Facebook pages or I’m sure I would still be swearing trying to attach the burr (the correct name, which a lovely lady told me on Facebook). It does come with alot of various attachments (more questions for Facebook Halloween group ) but I have ordered a finer pointed burr so I can engrave the fine detail in the letters easily but all In all this is fab. Just a shame tbat the instructions aren’t really good at instructing.
