5.0 out of 5 stars Top quality soundbar
I am a keen audiophile and bought this soundbar to improve the sound from my midrange tv’s speakers as I live in a flat and therefore cannot have a sound system that sounds like a home cinema anymore. For the price I am very impressed with the quality and it does punch above its weight for the price. For music its not as good as a £100+ bluetooth speaker in terms of sound and the power and definition on the bass more to the point, but it still sounds good and delivers a clear sound that sounds fuller and better then tv speakers. People have noted however that it does not sound better then their tv’s speakers, but if you have spent decently on your tv it will come with good to outstanding speakers and bass tweeters and therefore you should not expect a £30 soundbar to compete, stop being a cheap skate and spend more. (music tested was various albums/ songs/ compositions by : metallica, pantera, arch enemy, slayer, queen, 80’s compilation, classic rock, motown and 70’s disco, bach, vivadi, wagner). The sound is much better for films and tv as they do not require the wide dynamic range of of music and are encoded differently, but film themes do sound enlivened and fuller with richer, open sound and things like gunfire/ explosions sound beefed up and have weight to them. The dialog and higher frequencies are still audible and it really does do its job to enhance the television experience. (films tested were a mixture of blu ray and dvd and include: die hard 1-4, most of the star wars films, indiana jones and back to the future trilogys).Other soundbars I have tried have had either overpowering bass or only start to ‘come alive’ when the volume is turned up loud enough that the neighbours will complain which renders them useless if you have pets and/ or children and can’t have a massively loud or bassy soundbar on, especially in the evening.I have not tested the bluetooth or the (frankly aweful looking) component and 3.5 jack cables that came with it. For people wanting the best audio experience should only consider buying a good quality optical cable which can be bought from many places including Bolo for £5. This should be the ONLY way you connect your soundbar for the best audio experience, as the bluetooth module you can expect in a £30 soundbar will be pretty pathetic and the supplied cables are garbage so please discount all the reviews that use these methods as I am not surprised they are getting playback noise/ interference, cut outs and generally sub standard audio. The bar does have a couple of quirks which are not deal breakers but I feel just things to bare in mind. The first is that sometimes when the soundbar is turned on after the tv it does occasionally make a moderately loud static noise for about 1 second. It doesn’t always do this and it has no effect on the sound whatsoever after using the soundbar daily for 3 months. The second is that when you turn it on it always reverts to full volume so you MUST remember to turn it down as it does go what most people would say is quite loud and is obviously jarring when your not expecting it. These points are really minor and it does become very easy to remember these things. This soundbar would be great for people looking to improve their audio quality on a budget and for people living in flats, with kids, pets etc... who want more bass and audio response and richness but can’t have it sounding like Metallica are playing live in their living room. Do not expect miracles and if you have a tv costing £1000+ then you cannot reasonably expect a £30 soundbar (which is 3% and upwards of the price you paid for the tv) to blow you away or be better. I do think if you are looking for a soundbar mostly for music and can tell the difference between high and low quality sound then you may want to spend more, unless you listen to modern chart music which has a very low frequency range because its awful in which case this product will be fine for you. But for an improved audio experience on a budget especially for tv and films that you can have on all night and really improve your your audio/ visual experience then this is quite frankly a bit of a bargin.I usually go for brand names and been stung either by poor picture or poor sound. My lg tv is poor for sound but bought this to give it a go and I wish I had of done it earlier. Much easier to hear the TV lovely and clear. Great value for money.also comes with additional 2 year warranty when you register product.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's fine but has a couple of tiny flaws
The soundbar itself works fine although the bass isn't quite up to anything too heavy so sorry drum and bass fans. Too much bass and it distorts the sound but tweaking it seemed to work although this was trial and error as I couldn't see how high or low it was (see minor design flaw below). Easy set up using optical cable in my case but does come with aux cables and a headphone jack for input/output, the sound is better than the TV speakers so that's a plus. Reasonable price too. I bought this as my previous soundbar stopped (probably designed to fail) so I will be chasing this as it's inside the warranty. The difference between that one and this one is small but annoying nonetheless.Firstly I don't know how loud the soundbar is. There are no numbers/scale on the TV to show you if it's near maximum/minimum or middle.Secondly once the soundbar turns off, either through no input or manually and you turn it back on it resets to the internal default volume of the soundbar so I'm turning it down every time I turn it on.Niggles in the design rather than faults but for £50 what do you expect!?
