5.0 out of 5 stars Does the job with less chance of stabbing yourself.
Would have liked a sharper point to get under smaller stitches. Good item less chance of stabbing yourself. Very good at seam ripping.
1.0 out of 5 stars Completely Useless - returning
Utterly useless product clearly designed by someone who does not sew. With 50 years sewing experience but always keen to try something new I thought I would try this... big mistake!1.The diagram is misleading, you need to hold the blade out to use.2. Nothing like sharp enough.3. Blade is too big.4. Does not cut button holes - it just chews the fabric.5. Ridiculously expensive (this was a birthday gift to myself)Stick to the 60p cheap ones and replace often, to be honest something from a Christmas cracker would work better.
4.0 out of 5 stars Non locking blade
Good product but needs to be held in place to use.
1.0 out of 5 stars Blade tip way too thick to slip under small or medium sized stitches, so fairly useless.
This was an expensive item but a waste of money because the blade tip way too thick to slip under small or medium sized stitches and you need to do that to open enough of the seam to run the seam ripper along it, so this item is fairly useless. I am so disappointed, feel I threw a lot of money away.
2.0 out of 5 stars package image misleading
The media could not be loaded. Image on package shows blade stays extended without using the slide button. (i.e.holding the barrel either side) this is not the case. You have to hold the spring loaded slide forward whilst using. This is not easy to do when ripping seams. the ergonomics mean holding the barrel at an angle that does not allow you to hold fabric taught at the same time.
1.0 out of 5 stars Unusable!
The blade is so thick cannot actually be used.Waste of money
4.0 out of 5 stars that you have to hold the blade down
I thought by having an expensive knife this would really be good , and couldn't wait to use it . But i totally miss understood , i only used it once as i found it so difficult to hold and unpick my sewing at the same time . when it says it retracts , i just thought you pressed the slide and it popped up and stayed there , and you pressed it again to retract back when finished for safety . Wish i had bought the other choice now .
2.0 out of 5 stars Too hard to hold blade open
Could not use it, too much pressure was required to hold the blade open, blade too large to unpick finer stitching
Love this tool! So easy to use and is safe around the kids!
This tool was the perfect replacement for my old seam ripper! With the kids around, I didn't want anything sharp in the house that they could get their hands on. I also love that this one is auto-retractable, and so I don't have to worry about the blade being left out by mistake. You can also order the Manual if you prefer - this is the orange handle. It is great for arts and crafts with the kids too - they can use it without me worrying they'll hurt themselves! Definitely recommend to all you moms!
War soweit ok.
In Ordnung!!
What I wish I knew...
I hate to leave a poor review but I wish I had known a couple of things. The "blade" is very thick and wide. It's not ideal for a tight or small stitch. The "blade" also automatically retracts so if you dont keep your finger on the slide mechanism that pushes the blade out, it will retract into the handle. There's no lock or way to have it stay out. This limits how you get to hold the tool because the only way to keep it functional is to keep pressure on one spot. The blade is fine, it's nice that it's not sharp enough to stab yourself and it cuts well as long as you hold it correctly and use it on the correct sized stitches.
Not for me
Auto retractable is very clumsy and hard to use for sewing. Blade wobbly and hard to keep straight. Maybe good for packaging.
Safe seam ripper
Bad choice for me. The curved blade is too thick to be effective and the automatic retracting blade is hard on the hands on larger projects. I bought replacement blades that work much better. I carry it in my sewing kit for quilt group and doesn't puncture anything.
