Outside material is durable and high-quality PU leather, that can be cleaned by a wipe with a damp cloth or a tissue. I ordered the brown and red one. They are smaller then I expected. However, the quality on these little journals is FANTASTIC! I absolutely adore these...They came in a small plastic bag. The colour, finish, quality is brilliant. Really pleased I ordered these. The paper on the inside which makes up the journal is of really good quality....giving the journals a very 'old' feel...superb! The little 'charms' add a very 'writing by the sea' touch. The stamps in the leather are of the compass points....my only thing is....is it NW? or WN? As on the compass it is stamped as WN? Over-looking these minor things...I could give them more then 5 stars.....the colour on both of them is deep, not the tacky kind. Huge thumbs up!!

This is a really nice journal at a fantastic price. I don't know if it's real leather or not but it doesn't matter as the cover itself is of nice quality. The only thing about it is the smaller flap (shown at back left of the photo) has small cut out sections that seem to serve no real purpose but this can be tucked inside the outer flap when it's closed so it's not seen anyway. The pages are nice thick quality and I like the tea stained aged effect of them. I also like it is has a ring binder inside so that when the pages are filled you can easily remove them to add more and continue using. I had actually bought these for my children to use as journals to record thoughts and memories in, so since the pages can be replaced once full I can easily bind the used ones for keeps and add new ones for them to fill with more memories. The postage was quoted at up to 28 days (they come from China) but it took roughly 9 working days and my daughter asked me each and Every one of them where her journal was so I was a happy Mummy when they arrived!

On the whole, its rather a lovely little notebook - but it's quite small and not as pictured, and so loses stars for being misleading. I expected A5, based on the space between the rings in the picture and some reviews, but its actually more A6 - and there's no spacing between the rings. There's also no cut-out sections on the smaller flap (which the A5 version does have). I'll need to buy another in the A5 size I needed, but will get some use out of this one.

I liked how small the notebook was and the small design imprint on the leather cover. It makes a good spellbook for my DnD boardgame sessions. I also liked the metal ring binder feature where you can attach and detach hole-punched A5 paper notes.
