5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Value For Money

(function(){ P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function'){ A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })() This monitor has a decent picture, refresh rate and Gsync making it a great gaming monitor. I have a 3090 graphics card I care more about a consistent frames per second than having a stupidly high resolution. QHD is a great compromise for me in that there’s a much higher pixel density than HD but I can still run modern games on maxed out settings - this will depend on your graphics card though. There’s some useful additional features such as ‘training mode’ where you can get the monitor to display a target on the centre of the screen. This is useful for some shooters when the game doesn’t display a target and you have to use gun sights eg allowing you to accurately headshot when firing from the hip. Overall I think this a great monitor for the money

5.0 out of 5 stars Reliable and Smooth After 5 Years of Use

The ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ has been my go-to monitor for five years, and it’s still performing well. The 1440p resolution delivers sharp visuals, and the 155Hz refresh rate keeps gameplay smooth. ELMB Sync and G-SYNC compatibility help reduce motion blur and screen tearing, making fast-paced gaming feel fluid. The IPS panel offers great color accuracy and viewing angles, making it solid for both gaming and general use. HDR10 support is there, but it’s not the most impressive HDR implementation. Build quality is sturdy, and the stand provides good adjustability. The only noticeable downside over time is some minor IPS glow, but it hasn’t impacted performance. After years of use, this monitor is still a reliable choice for gaming and productivity. If you want a well-balanced 1440p gaming monitor with longevity, this one holds up well.

5.0 out of 5 stars In comparison to my old 4K monitor

I had an Acer Nitro VG280K, which was similar price, similar reviews. It served me well but got broken. Now I have an ASUS TUF Gaming VG289Q.So I'll compare this to that. Acer or ASUS?SETUP - ASUSYou just screw the bottom to the rest and you're done.Mine came with both an EU and UK plug, but at first I only saw the EU plug, so spent hours researching what cable or adapter to get, only to later find the UK plug. However, I don't remember the exact process for the Acer, but I do remember holding it where I shouldn't and the monitor sliding off and crashing onto my knees. Because it SITS in, using gravity to secure it. It's not screwed in.But with the ASUS, you don't have to worry about where you're holding it and it flying off. It's screwed together.PRESET MODES - ACERIf you're somehow averse to adjusting things yourself, there are a few presets. ASUS has a cool, almost monochrome one, though I'm not sure why you'd use it. Acer's presets had better pictures though.USER-ADJUSTED PICTURE - ASUSIf you go into the user mode and change things yourself, you'll end up with better contrasts and a more striking image than my Acer, and not just because that was 'matte' while this is 'glossy'.Just whack the brightness up, tweak the contrast, and nudge the sharpness up one to remove the blur, and the picture is almost perfect. Colour-on-white, like the yellow buttons on Bolo, can look a bit 'oversharp', but the pop your image gives when gaming or watching something pretty far outweights that.SWIVEL - ASUSThe Acer could swivel back/up and forward/down, but the ASUS can swivel around, and the screen itself can be turned to vertical, giving you viewing options but also the ability to 'store' it away and lower the risk of it getting knocked over.LONGEVITY / ROBUSTNESS - Acer?I've only had the ASUS for a few days. But my Acer did survive crashing onto my knees and a bit of abuse, yet only suffered minor backlight bleeding in the corner. No dead pixels.OVERALL - ASUSThe fact is, once you've nudged the settings, ASUS' picture gives more of a pop, and the swivel and vertical option is neat. The conclusion: a great deal for £200-something.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic choice for any gamer.

Before I review the monitor I need to mention that I had to return my first one due to stuck pixels as such I have took away a star but for this reason only, Bolo replaced it quickly without any fuss, And the replacement has arrived without any defects. As the monitor has a IPS panel it does have a slight amount of IPS glow but this is minimal and isn't really noticeable under normal use same applies for ghosting its subtle but not noticeable. This monitor looks acceptable with HDR on I have had a HDR400 monitor and that this one looks far better.Text looks clear, colours pop and contrast is what you would expect from a 1000: IPS panelI Currently have it connected via a DP cable and as it is display port 1.4 I haven't noticed any bandwidth issues that can occur when a 2k monitor with HDR is connected via DP 1.2. Speaking of which there is a option in the OSD to change cable type from DP 1.2 to 1.4.Freesync premium is flawless on this display even at 144hz, 10bit colour space with HDR enabled. You cannot enable 10bit colour with any refresh rate over 144hz so you have to compromise colour over framerate but I find 144hz is enough. The inbuilt speakers are what's to be expected, At only 2w they are extremely tinny with bass being non existent, They are fine if you have nothing else but I recommend buying a set of satellite speakers. All in all I am completely satisfied with this monitor and would recommend it to any one even after the first one had stuck pixels.
