Our MacuShield Original Plus Chewable formula combines all three macular carotenoids and also contains vitamin B2 to help maintain normal vision. MacuShield Original Plus Chewable is a food supplement for eye health which also contains lutein (10mg), zeaxanthin (2mg) and meso-zeaxanthin (10mg), and also contains Vitamin B2 which is proven to help maintain normal vision. Scientific research shows that these three nutrients are found at the back of the eye, at the macula, where they form the macula pigment (yellow colour). Meso-zeaxanthin is particularly concentrated at the centre of this pigment. The macula is a specialist parts of the eye that is responsible for detailed, central vision. Lutein and zeaxanthin can be found in fruits and dark green leafy vegetables and meso-zeaxanthin is present in some species of fish and seafood. The macula carotenoids in MacuShield are obtained from marigolds (Tagetus Erecta), specifically grown for this purpose. MacuShield Original Plus Chewable contains vitamin B2 (riboflavin) which is scientifically proven to help maintain normal vision. MacuShield Original Plus Chewable is an easy to take chewable tablet. The tablets should be taken once a day, with food or a meal. MacuShield Original Plus Chewable tablets are blister packed, gluten free, not tested on animals, and manufactured in the UK. About the Manufacturer, MacuShield Original was first manufactured in 2006 where it was launched in the UK market. Since then the brand has grown from strength to strength and is now sold in many different countries across the world. In 2015, MacuShield was acquired by Alliance Pharma PLC Group. I started taking this 3 or 4 days ago and haven't had any high blood pressure or heart pounding feelings since. I didn't buy it for that reason and had no idea this was the magical ingredient I'd been missing. I have tried so many supplements, vitamins. herbs to try and stop this pounding, which was getting increasingly worse. I used to feel it in my entire body but then a few months ago I started really feeling it in my head.It's just gone. I googled other benefits of lutein besides eye health, and they do mention cardiovascular but again, I tried so many other supplements that are supposed to lower BP and they did nothing. I do know that anemia can cause high BP and heart rate, and one of the things lutein does is help a specific iron storage protein. So maybe that's it because it shouldn't be a magic bullet for blood pressure over every other herb and supplement I've tried, unless there's an unusual reason for mine being high and lutein just happens to have solved whatever that is.My legs have also stopped twitching and seizing up at night and anemia can be a cause of restless legs which makes me think it's the iron protein connection. Here is the paragraph I found online about that."The mitochondrion also possesses iron storage capacity by mitochondrial ferritin, which provides protection against oxidative damage. In this study, we examined the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of lutein in the presence of H2O2 in BV-2 microglia and its possible role in the regulation of iron metabolism. Based on our results we suppose that lutein acts against ROS production and decreases inflammation by reducing TNFα secretion and increasing IL-10.Lutein influenced mitochondrial iron homeostatis by increasing mitochondrial iron storage protein levels and by modulating heme and iron sulfur cluster syntheses."

My husband started taking these just after his last eye injection ..he thinks there is some improvent but will know for sure this Sat when he has another check up & injection..The injections over the last 2 years have improved the condition but the last bit has remained the same over the last few months..it will be interesting to see if doctors see any improvements, he will tell them after they check him that he has been taking a supplement.

Product arrived on time but box (packed in Jiffy bag) was bashed around and blister packs of tablets a bit bent. Fortunately none of them had been split, but maybe should be packed better in future?

I was diagnosed with macular drusen and the doctor recommended I eat large amounts or dark leafy greens and many other foods I love. The problem is, they are also high in oxalates which help my body produce kidney stone so he recommended MacuHealth supplement as a way to slow the progression or stop altogher.Upon research these are the same supplements but they are distributed in Europe and MacuHealth is distributed in North America. They take a bit to arrive coming from Europe but well worth the price!
Coming from another country I think and so order weeks in advance before running out.
A friend did the research a few years back and thought this was the best one for continuing eye health.
