5.0 out of 5 stars Essential for Constipation!
If you have chronic constipation, like me, you know how scary it can be. Like "Yikes, am I going to have to call an ambulance?!" kind of scary. I researched the heck out of this problem. Turns out iodine plays a VITAL role in keeping things moving. The problem is that the best source of iodine is seaweed, which I loathe. I made a valiant attempt at eating seaweed straight: in sheets, in flakes...UGH! Just couldn't carry on. The amount you need to take when using that method is discouraging. So then I tried these pills. Salvation. I am very sensitive about sizing in capsules, and I really struggle to take a lot of capsules that other people can down with ease. These don't give me any problems. I really like this company's focus on getting their stuff from actual foods instead of lab modified.I am able to correct the constipation issue with a three prong approach: 1 of these iodine pills a day, some prunes, and some whole grain cereal. The prunes lubricate waste matter, so even if it's dry and hard, it will slip through more easily. Critical for constipation sufferers, because the longer your body stores it up, the dryer things become. I can easily go weeks with no urge to go...and I eat plenty of food! By the time my body finally sounds the alarm, it's like trying to pass cement. Horrific. That's where prunes literally save your backside. You also need fibre in your diet. Fibre (aka roughage) tickles the sides of your intestinal walls, triggering muscle spasms, which give you forward thrust. No fibre, no thrust, no movement. In summer, I use salad. In winter, I use whole wheat fibre rods on my cereal. You can use anything that you like, as long as it has high fibre. Then of course water is essential, but I'm not great at drinking loads of water. A moderate (not crazy) amount of caffeine (eg, a coffee in the morning) is also commonly recommended. But the iodine is VITAL. Bizarrely, I don't have much salt in my diet, which is where I think I got into trouble, as a lot of salt has iodine added to it. I like crisps as much as the next person, so I just assumed I had plenty of salt coming in, but when I realised I didn't, it made sense that my iodine levels were too low. Just one of these pills makes all the difference. The packaging this company uses are tight little paper envelopes with zip seals. I find them a hassle to use, so I always transfer the contents to dark coloured pill bottles I've saved up. I also have to use a strip-style pill box, with the days of the week marked, or I can't remember if I took my pill or not. But with the help of the right pill box, these are fantastic. One packet lasts a month for one person, taking 1 capsule a day. Would definitely recommend for anyone dealing with constipation.

Good stuff, I’ve been buying this for years instead of kelp which breaks me out horribly. I have a tad of a sluggish thyroid and this seems to bring it back to normal, where my feet and hands are not cold all the time.

I take them on a night before bed. Haven’t really felt a difference yet. But haven’t been taking them that long and not even sure if you’re supposed to feel different 😂
