5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic rice cooker, 10/10 recommend
I absolutely love this little machine, it's so simple to use and clean. The first few tries were trial and error until I got it going and now it's perfect every time. Some top tier tips and general musings of mine to help those who may also be new to rice cookers:Wash the rice, wash it again and wash it some more until the water runs clear to get the starch off. Buy yourself a strainer to simplify the process. Basmati and jasmine will still retain a nice stickiness even when washed thoroughly so don't be afraid to really go for it.Follow the guideline notches INSIDE the pot itself. 1 cup of rice does not necessarily equal one cup of water. Use the water lines properly, don't be tempted to "add a little extra water" to stop it from burning either, your rice will turn to pure gross mush. Trust the guidelines they're pretty spot on.Once the rice is cooked it will automatically flick into "warming mode" DO NOT REMOVE THE RICE STRAIGHT AWAY. This was a mindblowing revelation for me lol. Leave your rice in for at least 30mins if you can AFTER it's finished cooking, just give it a stir with the included rice spoon as the way the moisture and cooking process works leaving it that bit longer actually lifts and releases any rice that might initially be stuck to the bottom.Put about half a teaspoon of table salt in with each cup of rice to get a nicer taste. Stock cubes can also be added in at this point too and gives a lovely tasty rice that can be eaten alone.Soya sauce is a great way to add a bit more saltiness and improve the general flavour after the rice has been cooked. It is much better absorbed than salt at that point. The medium is a small tidy size that would easily do a couple but tbh a family could do with a larger size. There's an on/off switch on the righthand side where the plug wire also comes out, easily missed. The cooking switch doesn't make a dramatic noise when done but it's a substantial click that you would hear from another room and as I said above it's definitely best to leave your rice settle and slow cook for a while to really get the best out of it.All parts are dishawasher safe - lid, bowl, steam pot and spoon. The main unit itself is very easy clean, just wipe with a cloth. If cooking a large amount of rice it can be helpful to put a towel beneath the device as it can on occasion boil over. I have noticed though that this is actually very rice specific. It never boils over for me with jasmine or long grain rice for example but it boils over everytime with basmati for some reason. That's all I can think of to help atm. I'd genuinely 10/10 recommend this device. I struggle to make myself eat a proper dinner a lot of the time and this has taken so much stress and effort out of the process for me, I love it. For those interested there are also recipes available online where you can use your rice cooker to even make the likes of pasta and soups/stews. That will certainly be my next venture when I feel brave enough to strike out again lol. For the price it's worth every penny, buy it now and thank yourself later over your fluffy perfectly cooked bowl of rice.
5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and high quality
Great product - simple, good quality, does the job reliabily and consistently. It's mechanical so very little to go wrong (it's a heating plate mechanism, no microprocessor found in the fancy cookers with hundreds of settings). Still my go to and worth every bit of space it takes in a crowded kitchen. One button, set and forget, perfect rice out. What's not to like.
4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad
I bought the medium one which fits two full measuring cups of rice based on my experience. I quite like it in that it makes my life easier and it's ready in about minutes. It took a bit to find out how much water I need to avoid a toasted crust forming at the bottom and 2 to 1 ratio works. I am definitely converted to a rice cooker!!I do however have 2 issues:1. It says it's dishwasher safe however I only put the bowl in the top rack once and it came out discoloured so I'm hand washing it from now on.2. The lid has a little steam hole and when the rice is bubbling all the starchy water escapes and makes the surrounding surfaces gross as well as the actual ricecooker itself. Even with tiny portions of rice (1 quarter of a cup). I find that quite annoying so I will definitely be buying a more expensive rice cooker that does not have a lid per se once this one breaks. All in all, it's a very useful tool and it does the job!! Great rice cooker for beginners like me who aren't sure if this is something that they definitely need.
5.0 out of 5 stars Life changer. Beautifully cooked rice every time.
I always wanted one of these so after reading the reviews I choose this one. I love it! It is as they say trial and error to find out what works for you. Half a pot of dry rice is nice as part of a leal for one cooked in 10mins, thus a whole pot for two and took about 15 ish mins. Ive not made more than one pot but shared between 3 as part of meal which was fine. I began experimenting and adding an onion at the beginning, then added frozen peas.. this did increase the cooking time but expected. Cleaning is super easy and I'm happily making rice when having visitors as love it has an internal timer. It did stick to the bottom of the pan to begin with but i will stir when nearly ready and have avoided it since. I was concerned about the liquid coming out of the steam escape hole and was dabbing it one the first use, then trusted the process and although liquid stillcomes out it runs down the lid and back to rice with no traces at the end. It is a really good applance that gives beautiful rice which i am delighted to own. Freshly cooked rice beautiful everytime ❤️
