Rarely do I feel compelled to write a review but this gift for my beloved six year old grandson was a total success. He was kept busy (and amazingly quiet) digging away for almost two hours and was delighted with all the goodies inside. Then he had to wash them and proudly put them on display. He was totally absorbed in the process and I could not have been happier. Hoping others have the same results and would gladly recommend.

Kid loved it, I felt its pretty expensive for what amounts to a lump of plaster with stones stuck in it. Kept kid entertained for hours.

My children (5 and 2) have had hours of fun with this! With 20 gems and fossils to find, getting them out an identifying them has kept their interest and they have loved finding out about them all from the booklet. Well worth it!

Seven year old grandson delighted with his dig, assisted by his five year old sister they didn't stop until they had got all the samples out. They looked great when washed and cleaned up. They couldn't believe they were really real and not plastic! Amazing to keep two really quite small children hard at it for nearly two hours.
Niece loves them
This was a gift for my 8 year old autistic niece.Kept her occupied and focused and she has made stone collecting a hobby!Also was lots of fun for her.Great variety of stones as in the actual image on the box.Great value for the price!

Family time or me time?
My son and I enjoyed many f_'ing hours digging the fossils out. Basically me digging, son supervising lmao. Jokes aside, it's great value even if as a parent you'll end up doing MOST of the digging. I really got into it and my son enjoyed it too.

Perfect for Curious Minds
I bought this for my 5 year old because she was obsessed with dinosaurs, fossils, and gems. I figure this covered all the bases and was an easy gift. She absolutely loves it.It's definitely a messy project, so either do it outside or put it in a pan. That's part of what makes it fun, though.The project isn't something that you can get done in 20 minutes. It's perfect to teach that patience gives rewards. It also comes with a booklet that tells all about the pieces that are dug out and most of the words are simple enough that a newly-reading child can get through it.Unlike the other 3 sets that we've ordered in the past, this one was actually easy enough to get through without soaking in water or having to get adult help. They're easy to clean off, easy to find, but still require time.If you're looking for a gift whether for boys or girls, this one is definitely worth it.
