Doublebase Dry Skin - clinically proven, high performance emollient for problem dry skin including eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis. The natural oils in healthy skin form a protective barrier which keeps moisture in and irritants out. People with dry skin conditions, such as eczema, dermatitis or psoriasis, can have a shortage of these natural oils. The end result is dry, chapped, flaky skin which is more prone to irritation. Many eczema creams, psoriasis creams and dermatitis creams have a high emollient oil content. Doublebase Dry Skin combines the high emollient oil content of a cream with the easy absorption of a gel. It also contains glycerol which is a humectant (it helps to hold onto water within the skin to reduce dryness). This combination helps soften, moisturise and protect the skin by trapping moisture and restoring its natural protective barrier. Doublebase Dry Skin's innovative gel formulation breaks down when it comes in to contact with natural salts in the skin; meaning it's easily absorbed in to the stratum corneum (top layer of skin) and provides a lasting, protective barrier of oils, even after gentle washing. *Wynne et al (2002)

I wash my hands many times a day due to my contamination OCD which caused my hands to be very dry, flaky, and sore with peeling skin. I started applying this moisturiser after every handwash and after just a few days I noticed a big difference. And then after using it for a few weeks, my hands were no longer peeling, flaky or sore anymore. This moisturiser really helps your skin recover and helps your skin to retain moisture. I use quite a generous amount when moisturising my hands (about the size of a grape). When you first apply it, it first feels quite stiff and un-spreadable, but after a few seconds it's as if the moisturiser warms up and you're able to spread it around easier. I don't have eczema or psoriasis, so I can't comment on whether it helps with those conditions, but I would definitely recommend this product to anyone suffering from severely dry hands.
