5.0 out of 5 stars Another beautiful product from Peak Design
I find PD products a little like Apple products; addictive to buy and expensive, but beautifully made! This tripod is expensive but made to a really high quality. It’s lightweight, compared with similar-sized tripods, and incredibly compact when closed down. I’ve owned cheap, similar-sized tripods before and they don’t compare. What I especially love is the quick-release from the head, and also the ball-and-socket joint that the camera fixes to. Previously I’ve found I will compose an image with other tripods, and when I let go of the camera it moves very slightly meaning the image is a couple of degrees off. Not a big deal, but with this tripod tightening the head and letting go of the camera leads to no movement of the camera whatsoever. Even with a Sony A7iii + 24-70mm lens attached. The phone grip hidden in the centre column is also incredibly useful and a great addition. If money isn’t an issue, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a quality tripod.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great piece of kit
I don't often write reviews but am so impressed with this I thought I should. Perhaps not quite a rigid as some other slightly larger travel tripods when all the legs are extended but not far off. it makes up for this in portability and fast easy set up. The lower last stage of the legs are a bit thin but it keeps the overall package size tiny. But it is generally very rigid. I was concerned that the centre column was a bit thin but in fact it is very stiff and is fine.I guess if I was a pro at the top of a snowy mountain in gale I might want something more substantial. But I doubt I will ever be doing that and even then it might be fine ! But if I was a pro I guess I would be hauling around more gear and lenses etc so a small tripod might not be an issue. For an enthusiast traveling light its perfect in my opinion. If I was a pro I would have a second larger tripod for more critical work, but for my purposes and everyday stuff it is petfect.Because of its size I will always bring it with me now or at least leave it under the car seat, where as I would tend to leave bulkier travel tripods at home. Have done long exposures and its fine. In conclusion its a lovely piece of kit which I love. I think it is very well thought out and a pleasure to own and use. Very simple head to use once you have practiced a while. It has limitations comparedto a traditional ball head but I find I can work round this. There is no pan so not so suitable for video, but you could add a cheap small round panning unit with arca swiss on top and bottom to keep in your bag in case you need it. I have noticed that for product photography when you need the camera pointing straight down its hard to get the camera perfectly vertical, so I think I will buy a small AS Pan head for about £25 to clip on top of the Peak Design head for this kind of work. The phone clip I thought was a bit of a gimmick, but having said that its good for Facetime or Skype etc, when you dont want to hold the phone. I would have preferred to have seen the wrench tool hidden in the lower centre column ( but it doesn't fit there) or it would be good if it was more securely fitted. The wrench is OK clipped into the leg but can easily be knocked out and lost, I have attached a thin cord to so it wont get lost. Reviews have mentioned that to remove the lower centre column for low level work with the supplied wrench takes a while and is fiddly, but I find it fast and simple once you get the hang of it. The wrench is well made and handy but a bit harder to use while its attached to my cord. I will probably try to find a cord with a clip so it can be detached when needed. Using it with Sony A7III and 24-105 f4. Have also used same camera / lens with addition of 360 rig Nodal Ninja 3 mk III. I previously had a Gitzo series one Traveller, the Gitzo is very nice, legs are stiffer and is a similar weight but its much bulkier when folded down, it is also more long winded to deploy with its folding design.Update after 6 months: I now take it everywhere as it fits nicely in the outside water bottle pouch in my sling bag, with the help of an elastic strap on the top of the bag. I keep a small arca swiss pan head in the bag for occasional use. It a pleasure to use , having got used to it now.
5.0 out of 5 stars Lightweight and great functionality
This was a big upgrade from the bulky, heavy tripod I used to use. This is incredibly lightweight and perfect for moving around with. It's multi-use in my household: my husband takes it out with his Fujifilm XT4 for landscape photography, and I use it at home with my Google Pixel 6 for taking photos for my art social media. I love the little hidden phone clamp!
5.0 out of 5 stars Virtualfoto are awesome and so is this Tripod.
Great tripod that’s been really well thought out. Instead of sticking with the same old Peak Design has pushed the boundaries and produced something that’s a stand out product. Very expensive when compared to other Carbon fibre travel tripods but that’s expected when you look at Peak Design in general. They produce designer, high end photography equipment. Virtualfoto are an awesome seller too and would definitely recommend them to anyone. Don’t be put off by them being in Italy, I ordered and received the Tripod within 2 days and that’s during the pandemic, they’re great.
4.0 out of 5 stars High-end tripod
A lightweight, stable tripod if not on the expensive side. Nice design and relatively light, though after several hours walking it is heavy enough. Advise on getting the universal attachment and a spare tool as I lost mine on one of the first outings, the clip does not hold it in as well as it might. A good asset to your photography packing list.
5.0 out of 5 stars Carbon-fibre Masterpiece.
This exquisitely designed, beautifully engineered piece of kit has to be the best travel tripod on the planet. Expensive? Sure, but hey, you get what you pay for. If you want to save a few pounds, buy an inferior model, but if you want the best, it has to be this carbon-fibre masterpiece by Peak Design. 'Nuff said 😉

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing
Its a revolution I take it every where and as a result in low light or creative situations my photography has been improved, pricey but well worth every penny, so easy to use.
Excellent Portable Tripod
This is my second Peak Design Travel Tripod. The first one was apparently so nice that an unnamed TSA agent decided it would be better off in his possession than mine. That said, it was such a well designed tripod that I was willing to purchase a replacement immediately, which says a lot considering the price of this thing. It's not cheap, but its worth the cost to me.First, it's important to understand what this thing really is. It's not the most stable tripod in the work. There are much heavier sturdier tripods that are great for studio work, or if you don't mind lugging something four times heavier around with you. However, I have yet to find anything even close to as sturdy as this item is that is as easy to carry with you, or that is so well designed. This extends all the way down to the travel case for the tripod, which is a little padded fabric sleeve that keeps the tripod protected without adding an ounce more weight than necessary, and has handy attachment points for clipping to whatever other gear you have.Collapsed, the tripod is small and maybe more importantly well balanced. Its not overly top heavy or awkward to carry. It fits in water bottle pockets on backpacks (top will extend out, of course, good to have a strap too). Personally I usually clip it to the bottom of whatever pack I'm using using the reinforced loops on the travel pouch. In use the tripod is great. Its sturdy and very adjustable. Stability is greatly enhanced by hanging your backpack or other item from the hook on the center post, but even without that I had no issues and I use some pretty big lenses. Again, there are sturdier tripods, but this is meant for travel and easy carry, and considering how light it is I'm very impressed with the stability. The swivel mount is also well designed, but be aware it's different from a typical ball-mount tripod head. It has a lot of adjustability, and I really like using it once I got comfortable with it. But I'm not sure it's quite as adjustable as my Sirui. It's possible to mount a third party head on this tripod, but that requires the Universal Head Adapter from Peak Design, an additional purchase. Finally, there are a few additional nice touches with this tripod. It has a built-in mobile phone adapter. Yes, I'm guessing most people buying this tripod have "real" cameras to use with it, but it's a nice touch, and there are some uses for being able to easily mount your phone at times. It also has built in storage for the only tool you need for adjustments, a little allen wrench. The head is reversable, so you can actually mount your camera between the legs to get a really low shot. All in all, it's the best portable tripod I've found, and I've looked around a lot.
Excelente !!!
Great for Travel
This tripod has been reviewed in minute detail in many reviews. The basic feature important to me is that it takes minimum space in my luggage and weighs a minimum amount for a travel tripod. It supports my Nikon Z7 with 70-200 mm f2.8 lens and all smaller ones easily. The quality is outstanding which matters to me. The ball head is not the best in the world, but doesn’t need to be.
